Super ahmed it's the Vita. It was designed to bring console graphics to handhelds, and it definitely shows with this game, missing a few things but still retaining many graphical effects

It's a little more powerful than an original Xbox but with more modern shaders. It really didn't stand a chance against the 7th gen consoles or Wii U in terms of what it could do.

Back then on the first gen Vita we had the OLED panel which made the color contrast look good. OLED on TVs on the other hand was still very uncommon. Playing games on the Vita definitely felt special but I couldn't tell how, and this was probably why.
I had so much fun playing this on the vita.

Say what you want about NFS Most Wanted 2012, but you gotta admit 2 things:
1. For a Vita game, this was really good and fun to play
2. Multiplayer was one of the best
I dont get how the multiplayer was good. I was bored rather quickly and the connection was bad, even though my internet worked fine
I had so much fun in the multiplayer and the single player i wish they would remaster this game because I loved it I had all the dlc and everything and played it every day

Gravity Rush (which is getting a PS4 port), Killzone: Mercenaries, Uncharted: Golden Abbys, Tearaway (Also getting a ps4 port...), LBP Vita. what else? No name indies and crappy weeaboo games are irrelevant. 3DS has many AAA-grade games like Fire Emblem, Bravely Default, Monster Hunter, Smash and Kart, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Kid Icarus, Ace Atorney, Animal Crossing, etc.

do you not understand that the resolution on ps3 is higher? I mean ps vita's screen is simply smaller and that's why it looks a bit shitty, and if the resolution was fixed they would look 97 percent equal
xas444 It's not just about the resolution but the colours and other details like the sunlight, the buildings, the sky and the clouds... all look worse. And the PSVita uses the PowerVR SGX543MP4+ GPU, which can be consider outdated now with the arrival of Tegra 4, Adreno 320/330 and newer PowerVR GPUs.
yes, but the screensize of ps vita is smaller, thus it does not need to utilize all of its gpu's resources, and btw, it doesn't even matter both games will look the same from the players perspective
It is still amazing that something like this is possible on such a small device, even though it doesn't beat the PS3. But on a small screen like that you will barely see any difference.

Butterflies and Hurricanes over a Vita version of a Need For Speed reboot is a confusing mixture of nostalgia that I'm not sure how to process, but the algorithm has put me up to this challenge.
Everyone needs to replay this video about 5 or 10 times.
2012: Lets port the actual NFS to a mobile consol.
2020: Lets port a 2010 NFS cuz Switch can't handle a 2019 game port.

I hate it because the Vita has one of the same problems as the 3DS. The games could be so much better and larger if the developers would just stop underestimating the hardware and make it really good. 3DS could run Resident Evil: Revelations without even having to do that whole cutting off the internet browser and Miiverse; Revelations looks good and plays well; yet, Capcom is like the only developers to take advantage of the hardware. Vita had Killzone: Mercenaries and that really and truly was console quality, but developers won't put in the effort to push the hardware enough to pull out games like that.

PS Vita was excellent for what it was. Killzone:Mercenary looked awesome. It's just a shame Sony didn't give it much support or love. Sure mobile phones nowadays have more powerful hardware but touch buttons are not the same as having two joysticks and physical buttons. Can only imagine what the PS Vita would look like with updated hardware and a higher resolution screen.

Anti aliasing is a must for games to look remotely good. It's a portable console so it doesn't really matter.

Gerry Lecaros I now own the Vita NFS Most Wanted, and I have to say I'm very impressed. Everything is there on the Vita (except the DLC), and it runs at a pretty good fps for the size of the world and detail (especially with no loading times between areas). I actually like playing it on my Vita more than my PC, as I hate the terrible optimization of the PC port... (seriously, fps drops with a R9 280X at 1920x1080 is stupid :P)

The PS Vita is a beast and when your playing it on its OLED display at times especially with like Uncharted Golden Abyss you might think your playing PS3 seriously. I just bought a new one and I missed it soo much.
I just bought a hacked Vita last week and i've played Killzone Mercenaries. The graphics are gorgeous but i suck at the game lol. Gonna download Uncharted later

It will never look exactly like PS3, there's a huge difference in hardware, even though the Vita has way better performance on the games.
the Vita is around 50 Gflops or less, while the PS3 Cell CPU is more than 200Gflop's.
Now late this year, mobile phones\tablets will probably go beyond PS3\X360 hardware performance, but they will still not be as good as the consoles, because the software on them are still very little.
Even Nvidia shield has around 100 Gflop and all that power is not being used on anything on the android yet (but it's improving, and I guess soon we will also have better and more complete games on that plataform).

Very true. As for future mobile gaming, phones and tablets will still lose the battle against AAA core gaming titles and physical controls. Problem is, Sony is not making much of the Vita's potential (or making it more attractive to devs) and the Android and iOS market is leaping forward. Which makes me sad. I bought the Vita because I wanted to play games at least as good as Rockstar's iOS ports, Real Racing, Infinity Blade but with spot on button controls. Now I might have been better off buying a joypad accessory for a tablet. (Memory card prices, screen resolution, compatibility,..)
I do think it outdoes the PS3, though. The multitasking alone makes it superior. Not to speak of music player, party function and the PSN Store.

Yeah, same opinion here, but I don't own a Vita, but would like to.
HOWEVER, sonny promised they would never forget about it like they did on the original PSP, they also promised games this time wouldn't be just a step-down version from the real game (X360\PS3 version).
But as we all can see, most PSP Vita games have nothing to do with the real game like COD for example.
Then on gamespot sony said they are not thinking to bring GT5\6 to Vita, and they say it's using PS3 full technologies and the Vita is too weak to bring it.
THAT IS VERY STUPID. PSP original even had it's own GT version and was pretty good from what I saw (didn't own a PSP, but saw a friend playing it).
Vita can have GT too and it's stupid lying like sonny did claiming it has not enough power to run GT (also they could have gone with a better GPU on the Vita instead of going with current known smartphone hardware).
Anyway, Vita doesn't have much games that I like and lately it only comes out games like nintendo 3DS which I don't like much, anime\jap type of games don't appeal me much.
ps: I hope SONY WAKE UP and bring GT, MGS 4\5, Tomb Raiders, and all the good known upcoming multi-plataform games like watch Dogs, The Division...........
guily6669 Gran Turismo on the PSP was horrible. Graphics were far from what people expected and the game lacked any real career mode.
An easy seller for the Vita would be to release all the LEGO games (and Batman) in full quality. So far they have been nothing but higher res 3DS games. The PSP did much better. And there are just so many people out there who love to play these LEGO games.
If they lowered the prices for PSP and PSOne games, added more to the list, even that would have gamers buy the console.
I'd love to see the new, big games like WatchDogs on the Vita. That would be insane! Maybe things change after the Borderlands 2 release.

My only disappointment is that the Vita lacks the automated aero(speed-deployed spoiler) - this is something that I remember seeing in Need for Speed II on the PS1...!

Honestly the main thing holding back this comparison is the resolution difference (which makes sense for portable devices like that, lower-res is mitigated due to how much smaller the screen is).
I bet you if someone managed to get the Vita version of Most Wanted running in a emulator or something and match it's resolution with the PS3 version, it would mostly come down to a texture and sky/GI difference.

+Kala West no shit who would think it wouldn't , if it did then ps3 would be shit its a handheld and what a lot of reviewers don't even bring up is that the whole bloody city is there and that is amazing for handheld. sorry i own both and this video is horrible the vita recording looks down graded the cars in real game play are pristine on vita only the road and building are down graded so not sure what happened but to people who dont own both and see this they will think it looks way worse when in reality the cars look great as do the sparks and so forth.

It's really impressive considering that this game is published by EA and it looks great on the Vita...I'm sure that with more efforts the Vita version can even look better
I think the only game that utilized the Vitas full potential was KZ Merc. I think they could have done a whole lot more with this one and other tittles as well, Producers of KZ saw that and went straight with it, making it one of the best game for a handheld device. Now I think EA has a fair idea on what the vita is capable of, maybe they were scared the first time round, underestimating the vita. KZ will be an eye opener for any game developer who wants to create something for the vita. Hope.

On modded vita, you can use vitagrafix plugin and make the game run on vita native resolution which is 960x544. And boy, oh boy. It looks frickin' amazing!!

Which makes it even more impressive since even those engines from the PS3 are not optimized to run for the Vita. A handheld console that could do HD gaming and still have a decent battery life is remarkable.

Could have been framerate issues. Killzone and Uncharted are small zoned games compared to an open world racing game which has textures running at high speeds.
