Hi Jake great to meet you and your brother the other day. You lads obviously love you fishing which was a joy to see. Did manage a big Roach in the end coming up in part 5 or 6 of this series.
      Tight lines.

Hiya mate I've been walking down that part of the river for years I've never fished it ..I live just down the road..most of the big chub I've seen are exactly where you are under the fallen tree just before the bridge..love to see someone enjoying this beautiful small chalk stream..keep the videos coming mate.👍

Thanks for watching, can't believe you've never fished it.
I need to have another go down by the horses under all the willows.
Have you seen any big Roach on your walks?
May see you down there sometime.

    Hi Paul
I've had a couple of better Chub from that narrow fast swim you tried, probably around 2 to 2-1/2lb
Big bit of bread flake freelined but from the bank keeping really low visually picking them out.Was hard but enjoyable, when they dissappear under the far bank cover they are completely hidden

Thanks for watching Dave, it's tricky to find the fish With so much cover and as you say they can easily slink under the rush and you'd never know they were there.

Really surprised that you used a waggler, in my opinion a most unsuitable float. You can't hold it back successfully and all the bulk of the shot is round its base. You should have a fairly heavy avon type float with the shot all along the line. Those floats are much easier to control in that very fast water, thats what they were designed for after all. If you're after big roach try a size 10 or 12 hook with a piece of bread flake. Perhaps you disagree but that's how we used to fish chalk streams back in the 1950/60s. Good luck.

Thanks for watching Tony, ive been playing around with a few different float stlyes. I like the bottom end only because they dont make much disturbance when striking, they tend to tangle less when only a small amount of weighr down the line.
Some times the water is only 6 inchs deep, most sticks are 4 inchs, when you put the weight under the float they tackle when ever you cast them. Im currently using the korum stubbas in 1.2/1.6gram and the dreenan bobbers in the same size. Stubbers winning at the moment.
I also dont often hold back.
Tight lines and thanks for the comment.
