    Just to let you know really quick, as a nurse and a patient, I've woken up during actual surgery on my ankle... That's part of the reason that the anesthesiologist is right there. They will monitor you health-wise along with the doctor but they're also there in case you wake up. They were already prepping the medication to give you as soon as they notice that you are awake. Also I recommend in the future that you let them know that you are nauseous after anesthesia it's a very very common side effect of anesthesia and what they will do is give you anti-nausea medication prior to giving you the anesthesia and when you wake up you won't have that post-surgical nausea. And lastly I just wanted to say thank you for getting a colonoscopy even though you are uncomfortable. It really is worth it going through it instead of having to deal with colon cancer. You're such a positive example. Thank you for everything that you do for all of us!

    I'm so glad you've been able to reconnect with your sister! My sister is my best friend in the world and I can't imagine life without her! We are both currently pregnant with our first babies at the same time, which has been very exciting! I am 33 weeks and she is 17 weeks, so it's been so wonderful to have this additional bonding experience.
    I'm so glad that Honor has not only given you the opportunity to be a wonderful mom but also to be close with your sister! How truly lovely.

    I don’t like forcing relationships. My sister was never a good older sister to me. 10 years difference. It’s my choice that we don’t have a relationship and it always bothered my parents. It’s unfortunate. I really envy you and happy for you, sincerely. I’m glad your colon is excellent!

      Same experience here. My brother is 9 years older and always a jerk. When I was 21 I realized “I’m a fucking adult, I decide who I have a relationship with”. No confrontation - i literally ghosted him. It’s been over 20 years and, tellingly, he’s never once reached out to me.

    • @JH-bx8lb
      @JH-bx8lb Рік тому +4

      My mum would always say “it’s just the age difference”. But my sister is 8 years younger than me and while we didn’t connect as kids, we’re very close now.

    • @wellhello1603
      @wellhello1603 Рік тому +4

      That’s how I feel too, family doesn’t mean we need to suffer from the relationship, I feel. Our whole family has weird vibe all together, but me and my sister especially, because although our relationship was sometimes good, mostly bad or non existent. She’s 5 years older than me. We don’t talk most of our lives, because we start fighting very fast and it ends in traumas. We just live our separate lives and neither seem to mind that we don’t aren’t in each other’s lives that much.
      The only hard part is hard for me- is that our mom tries to guilt trip me into doing something for my sister when she asks her to help, same with her. “Family always helps each other unconditionally”, like making me feel I need to participate in her life, do stuff for her and i always feel bad to say no, so I usually can’t. If I can’t find an excuse, I feel like have to do it. Ofc I’m always there for my sister or anyone in genuinely hard times with no one asking me to, but I always wonder if I’m being narcissistic that I try to wiggle myself out when it feels inconvenient for me.

    • @stephlyndsey3932
      @stephlyndsey3932 Рік тому +1

      @@JH-bx8lb Yeah after siblings get in their 20s or older I don't feel like the "age excuse" is valid anymore. Everyone is an adult and there's plenty of ways to connect if both parties are willing.

    I’ve lost count of the number of colonoscopies and gastroscopies (camera down throat) I’ve had. I’ve had stomach cancer twice as well as other illnesses caused by cirrhosis (due to a gene fault). I’m 35 and thankfully have never woken up during a procedure or surgery. Hearing stories where people do scares the death out of me! Happy yours went well eventually and nothing was amiss though. 😊

    You have mentioned the tumultuous sister relationship some years ago and her making nasty comments on your videos. I have been very curious seeing you say she sent you things for Honor. So happy the relationship is starting to improve. And so glad your colonoscopy went well. In 2020 my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer after a colonoscopy and what a crap (pun intended) few years that was. And while he’s much healthier now, he is permanently changed by it physically and mentally. I hope they keep lowering the age insurance covers one because so many people could catch a serious issue sooner. ❤

We decided to leave opinions and frustrations at the door and be friends. 4 years in she developed metastatic breast cancer and ultimately died of Sepsis, 2 years ago. So we had a total of 6 years of friendship. I am so grateful to have had the fond memories, talks and laughs. I miss her everyday!!! Good luck to you and Sister. Weird timing, my dad is getting his first colonoscopy this week! He’s in his 60s so it is HIGHLY overdue. My sister, my mom and I have been after him for years to get one! He is grumbling about the prep work which seems different from the one you had to do. My mom’s had a few done and her prep was similar to yours. My sister (around your age and mine, early 30s) had her first last year due to gastro issues and since they found polyps, she’s due to get one every 5 years now. (My mom and uncle also had them too, apparently super common). Sorry your experience was not great, waking up in the middle of the procedure sounds terrifying.
    And glad to hear Honor has brought you and your sister closer! Is she a parent too? I was wondering if that was maybe part of the reason you’ve been able to reconnect. I remember you mentioning in a video once you had a difficult relationship with her so you have discussed it briefly in passing.

    As someone who has an older sister, we're about 2 ½ years apart in age. I don't like forcing relationships when I feel that they're futile. We rarely got along. When we were younger, we often fought...now that we're older, she's the type to get quick to anger about things which makes her unapproachable, but as I also have a low intolerance, we both argue quite often. I'd like to be close with her, have someone I can confide in, but I can no longer trust her, since I can see what she's capable of doing. Maybe if we got older and her maturity levels shifted, perhaps so.

    Congratulations on reconnecting with your sister- that's beautiful! A friend of mine had something similar happen- she & her sister never had much in common & sort of lost touch with each other throughout their teenage years. Her sister married young & had children in her early 20s, whereas my friend became an engineer, focused primarily on her career & waited until she was almost 40 to have her 1st child... but once that happened, she & her sister suddenly had a lot more common ground & are close to this day (my friend's sons are now 13 & 11yo). You're right- it's never too late! I'm sure it's bringing your mom a lot of peace to know that her daughters are finding common ground & can be there for one another, as adults.

    So awesome for you to share your positive story about you and your sister. Im so truly happy for you:). I have 4 siblings and we are very close. My 2 younger sisters and I are the best of friends. My 2 kids (already young adults) do love each other but they don't talk much because they have completely different personalities & find each other annoying. So i, too, know that pain of watching my kids not really get along. I hope and pray they can someday be close and spend time together. I always tell them that in this world there are few ppl you can trust and rely on and a sibling should always be one of those ppl.

    I had a colonoscopy with no sedatives, it's just tolerable. I love that you're not cussing around the baby, sweetest thing. ♡♡

    I 100% get the envy of those close with their siblings. My brother was 5 years older than I. And we never really had a close relationship. He passed away a few years ago. So no rekindling is possible. But i do think of him watching over me :)

    It's kinda funny/concerning when doctors say they've done that many of a single type of procedure... unless that's pretty much all they do, like a specialist that does 10+ of them a day every day for 12+yrs ... then maybe it makes sense. 🤣

    I was about to comment when nick was chewing the apple for honor “nick noooo what if she has misophonia” and then you mentioned it! I have really terrible misophonia since I was very little and seeing him do that was a little triggering for me. But obviously little babies won’t have it, and that was a very beautiful and funny moment. I also love that misophonia is becoming more known as I’ve felt alienated almost all my life from it. I’ve watched you for years and adore your content!

    Julia, I am from Russia, my English is not very good and I don’t understand you like for 100%, but I glad to hear that you reconnected with your sister. I understand, how this important to you, because I also reconnected with my sister after 8 years of silence and pain without her. My sister’s name is Julia by the way 💞

    I think it's important for a girl to have a sister. I've always thought that my sister would have liked to have also a sister instead of having only two brothers, even if we three have always had good bonds.
