Stayed at Carpe Diem during Covid, and me and my partner Kayla became good pals with Pete and Aemsira - they are great people - good hearts and great fun. Carpe Diem is a lovely place in heart of Lonely Beach, with lovely rooms (great showers) and a nice pool. The bar is good fun and we usually had a BBQ/party there every week. Hope they have a super busy year now the tourists are coming back.
Yes you can see they're a really nice couple. I've been wanting to go to Thailand and they made me feel like I'd be very comfortable staying with them. Thanks for posting. Time to escape from New York!
New subscriber here found it by chance. What an excellent place and nice hosts who deserve a busy season after covid. I really liked your style of interview allowing them to tell their story so well done on that. Hope to watch some more many thanks.
Greatly appreciate your feedback and encouragement. I have an improved audio system now, just need to make time to go chat to some more business owners in the area :)
I spent 2 weeks at their place in spring 2021 just as Thailand shut everything down. I went to meet them in the spring of 2022 and made a small video for my channel.
I listened to this heartbreaking story of selling the family business and difficulty to find work . Finding your home in Thailand with your lovely wife . One day I will visit koh Chang and stay in your lovely guesthouse. Wish you both peace and love ❤
Nice vid, subb'd from Issan. Ko Chang ive always regarded as Simply Paradise, been many times but never stayed out lonely beach way. But for sure will look it up on our next visit.. Cheers Big Cee
You see it all over Thailand and it's heart breaking .I wish this lovely couple all the best and hope they get inundated with tourists wanting to stay there🙏
I'm coming to Thailand in February, I've been koh Chang a few times,im really thinking about coming up from rayong for a week,if I do I will definitely look at staying here if available,it looks lovely 🇨🇷👍💯
Great story & I admire them. I wouldn't buy a business anywhere in Thailand or anywhere else at my late 50's age. I'm packing my lifelong business up soon to retire, travel & relax in Thailand.
@@horsetrader6154 Na I had a guest house in pattaya in the late 80s through to mid 90s .Dont need a girl attached to it .I formed a company .it's quite easy with the write solicitor .Definitely don't need a Thai partner.
Good on him 👍 Australia has gone down the toilet, especially in Perth, Western Australia with so much crime and drugs everywhere on the streets. Best thing I did was leave Australia!
@@experiencekohchang NP, you have a good style of interview, very empathetic and upbeat. Think you were possibly lost for words for a second when he came out with it's for sale at a reasonable price but handled the whole thing well. It was only after watching this and making my initial comment that I seen the channel is relatively new and person to person interviews aren't a common thing. I think you could build a following if you create a general theme for the channel. So maybe consider talking with more owners, ex pats etc and I'm sure you're channel will grow. Best of luck with it.
Appreciate the feedback and that is certainly the direction of the channel. Just need to save for a microphone and then good to go. So interesting to learn people’s stories and I’m trying to shine a light on Koh Chang too! :)
Really appreciate that and everyone’s contributions via comments, likes, subs really is helping get this video out there for people to see. Thank you 🙏
Agreed. On top of all of that, I can't believe the interviewer asked her about how they met in Pattaya and about what work she was doing. No point in rubbing her face in it or forcing her to lie in this face-saving culture. I appreciate Peter stepping in and whitewashing it.

Thanks for that. I like how the owner thinks and how honest he is. It'll be our destination when we visit Koh Chang.

You can see the concern for her happiness in his eyes. Hope they have a banner year.
Yes you can 😀
I’ve just checked out Agoda for the early January 23. Fully booked
Perfect beer menu, Leo or Chang. Delicious.

Been living in Thailand for 12 years, probably been to Koh Chang like 50times. Off to there for New Years.
Pete looks like Rod Marsh 😊
Played darts here 2020 as the pandemic was kicking off. Back in Bangkok now considering spending a couple weeks back in Koh Chang!

Yes it has & what a shame.
It's nothing like it was even 20yrs ago.
Absolutely no longer the lucky country

Greetings fr Malaysia. Your voice system is Not Clear!!!! All The Best....
Now have a new audio system and planning next interview. Thanks for the feedback :)
Good people
Is this on Big Koh Chang or little Koh Chang? Are you on the Andaman or Gulf of Thailand?
Gulf of Thailand. Does that mean it’s big or little Chang?
@@experiencekohchang That is big Koh Chang.
@@experiencekohchang 212 sq compared to 18 sq.

Hi. Can I ask how much per night and per week please
Best to reach out directly to Carpe Diem. You can also find them on Booking.cm

Stupid question is it early to crack a beer lol ,not for an Aussie.
Indeed that was a stupid question 😂
be careful authorities or snitches to authorities don't see you do any kind of work!!!
Over age, over experienced, under qualified..... didn't realise it was a real thing until it happened!
Very stressful running a business.
That’s for sure!
