Fun fact I actually did have to tell my friend samus was a guy to get him to play metroid prime with me when we were kids since he refused to play a game where the protagonist was female so this really hit home for me

Funny thing about that. Its super accurate. Loads of people in disenfranchised and poverty stricken environments develop horrible prejudices and preconceptions about the rest of the world, and then when they get out there and realize they were wrong they change their mind! But despite that, occasionally their brain chemistry gives them 'phantom bitterness' in a way. Like,
"I know I'm not supposed to have a negative reaction to seeing a black guy lead a movie. But I do. I KNOW I'm not supposed to and I'm wrong and the feeling goes away immediately but its there."

As a woman who worked in the video games industry for 13 years, I can confirm that a shockingly large percentage of gamer guys are like this. Why do they hate us so much?

I can't possibly imagine why the larger gaming community, mainly made up of white males in First World countries, who mainly play games as a form of entertainment and relaxation, may dislike companies, and to some extent the employees therein, who consistently and constantly seem to shit out Skinner Box garbage after Skinner Box garbage without fail, which never fail to find an opportunity, along with a great many of said employees (like yourself, in all likelihood) being radically left leaning quasi-activists, to projectile vomit shitty radical politics into their faces. Its a geniune mystery.
