You should point out that the little engine with the turbo works well for commuting. The power is available low down in the RPMs, which is perfect for stop/start driving.
ALL DAY LONG! Even Chevy is shocked at how well the Cruze has been selling. The reliability has improved across the board on cars. I would take a look at a good low mileage unit if you can find one. Thanks for watching my video :) Tony
thanks for watching my vid and for the input. I saw the 2013 model fly by me on the highway yesterday - it looks like they've lowered it's stance a bit. keep pushing PLAY!
I bought a 2012 in July 2011, and have had NO problems. Only one recall, for a minor issue. Cruze Eco with the manual transmission. Very quiet, smooth ride, and I have gotten 40.1mpg, over 13,000 miles, mostly commuting. This review is spot on!
That's a good question. The better your score the better deal you can potentially find in terms of financing. the best deal sometimes is to get your loan from a bank or credit union prior to visiting the dealer. there are lots of tools on the internet to help you through the buying process. I'll look around to see what I can find for you.
great review! i'm heading for college here in about 16 months and have been looking at small sedans that are good on gas. college is gonna be a tight budget so the last thing i want to do is buy gas for my vehicle all the time. I currently have a 2001 chevy blazer and plan on buying a cruze as my daily driver and college vehicle but keep the blazer for winter months and when i'll need its off road capability. cruze has great review, great safety rating, affordable, great car.Cant wait to get one
I love my Chevy Cruze. Actually it is my wife's. A great ride and good fuel mileage. In cold days the heat comes really quick. I love the radio and music controls on the steering wheel. The only complaint I have is with my big hands I have some difficulty clipping in the drivers side seat belt between the seat and the storage compartment between the seats.
I'm looking for a new car to buy and I looked up the Cruze and test drove one yesterday. It was the LT model. I most say, I was really impressed and it's at the top of my list. BTW, very nice review, one of your best to date, loved it.
the Cruze is more refined - smoother ride and less engine noise. The Focus has a more sport or athletic feel. Both are good choices. The Focus hatch-back is the way to go If you want to lug more stuff around. Let me know what you decide to do! Tony
Just bought this car and so far am extremely happy with it! Love the way it drives, and the design is fantastic! I do a lot of traveling so I think it's perfect for me (:
Yes I still love it! It's a great drive and I feel very comfortable driving it, I used to never want to drive but I love it now after I got this car (:
Kristina Wheeler You mentioned travel..long distance? For example a trip I would love is SoCal. to Oregon, is this a good first time "affordable" car for that stuff?
I have that exact model minus the RS package. I love my car but I've had 3 recalls in the last year on it. Mind you, mine is a 2011 model so I believe that chevy may have rushed it's introduction in to the west prematurely. Warranty covers everything although it can be an inconvenience and it ways on my mind when thinking of resale value if I do decide to eventually sell. Other than that the Cruze is a great car. Everyone who rides in my car is thoroughly impressed.
H had one of these as a rental for 3 day weekend... and i have to say I was very impressed. Far better than my girlfriend's Civic in every way. It didn't feel cheap at all and seemed like a big upgrade to a lot of the economic type small sedans out.
nothing is perfect my man! The Cruze is a nice little vehicle. BTW - I picked up a slight touch of Poison Ivy during that shoot - that'll learn me to be a tree hugger lol -- thanks again for your friendship and support!
i find it funny how you say "watch your head as you go in the back" because when i went car shopping, i went to sit in the back seat and MASHED my head on the stupid roof. the salesman got a good laugh from that :D
I miss the Cobalt name badge, but in many ways this is a great car! I notice them and can say I think Chevrolet is doing good and I hope they continue to push out cars that will compete in this segment. Like always, great review!!
@@averageguytested Paid mine off last year after 6 years of driving it. Holds up, minimal issues with it. only have 82k on a 2012 because I use it sparingly so hopefully I'll be able to use it in the years to come.
None of the Chevy Cruze (at least to my knowledge) have an interior trunk release button, it is actually on the trunk. It sits right under the back plastic chrome part.
Thanks for the kind words! What other cars are on your list? I've done reviews of the Focus, the Elantra and the Jetta. Check them out if you have the time.
If the Cruze had 200hp I'd be in one today. I have a Cobalt SS Turbocharged and my cars greatest asset is the performance, everything else is below average. I've modded my car and it has 350whp, but I've kind of outgrown it and want something nicer. I wish it had 200hp or more. I want an automatic, so it's looking like my only choice is the GTI.
4:03 That sure does look like poison Ivy, 3 round leaves with pointy ends growing from single stems. Did you get a rash after you uploaded this video???
Car is trash. I spend over 1500-2000 a year on constant failure problems. Leaks. Cam shaft. Interior damages that spring out of nowhere. Twice on motor. Engine light comes on every year! A hard pass. Buying something else.
only certain interior color models have the leather on the dash, as far as i know the brick leather and the cocoa interiors. I've seen both in person and i really like the brick leather model, its not very common though, none of the 8 dealerships near me stock it. I saw it at the LA autoshow and it looks very sporty.
No one can steal the Cruz the driver carries the door and ignition sensor in their pockets the car responds to the sensor when the door handle is opened the ignition won't work with out the sensor also you must push the clutch in aswell and then push the button to start the engine!!
Hey it's Ryan I backed out like u said to many ticks on the ford explore so he has a Chevy cruze 2012 la with a 6 so manual but it only has 27,000 but wants 9995 is that a little to high thanks for texting me back your a cool reviewer and honest
Years ago I rented a PT cruiser which I had been hoping to one day get to drive, there was so much wind noise that it made the experience really bad, I remember it had triple seals around the doors and even then it was noisy, It was puzzling!!!
Love the car, an automatic that is also manual. Feels great to drive but starting from 0 it feels odd but atleast I can't heavy foot the gas and spill drinks
I was thinking the same thing when I reviewed it! shame. maybe the 2013 model will change that detail. I saw one on the road yesterday and it looks like they have tweaked the exterior a bit.
i'm buying a car this week. budget is 13k and i've been looking at several year old altima's, should i seriously consider this car? how's reliability? i know ford has really gotten their act together and stepped their game up but chevy??
im wondering the same thing. i have 2 kids in car seats but also babysit one child through the week..im wondering if theyd all fit. we cant afford an SUV or minivan at the moment..we are in our early 20's . unless anyone could reccomend a cheaply priced suv
Adam Ramsay The trax might be a good choice. It has the same 1.4L Turbo and it's about the size of a CRV. The dash and center console are like the Sonic's for better or worse.
I plan to buy a used 2012 Chevrolet Cruze of over 196,000 km mileage, what do you think because I was told if the mileage is over 100,000 km and also its durability and maintenance cost. Thank you
I’m am planning to buy a used one that’s currently over 140k KMs , what will be the maintenance cost per month . Do you recommend it ? (I’m a student) Please reply

That man just hugged a tree full of poison ivy/oak haha
Just picked up an LTZ cruze Thursday I'm 6'3" coming from a Yukon xl and I love this little joker I have all of the leg room I need.
thanks for watching my vid and for the input. I saw the 2013 model fly by me on the highway yesterday - it looks like they've lowered it's stance a bit. keep pushing PLAY!

it was a bit noisy to me, but I LOVE the Cruze!! Thanks for watching my video and for the input on the Civic!
funny. I got poison Ivy from hugging that tree :)
I'm looking for a new car to buy and I looked up the Cruze and test drove one yesterday. It was the LT model. I most say, I was really impressed and it's at the top of my list. BTW, very nice review, one of your best to date, loved it.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed how much these cars like windy roads
👍🏽👋🏽
I agree the Cruze is no joke my friend :) even the folks @ Chevy are amazed @ how well it's doing
I do too! and it took me a long time to find one to review! the model that I had was smokin' thanks for watching my vid! Tony
thank you! and thanks for watching! Tony
Loved your video on the Cruze. It was very informative and humorous. As long as these videos keep coming out, I'll keep pressing play! :)
the Cruze is more refined - smoother ride and less engine noise. The Focus has a more sport or athletic feel. Both are good choices. The Focus hatch-back is the way to go If you want to lug more stuff around. Let me know what you decide to do! Tony
What an honest non biased review. Kudos to you brother!
Thanks for watching 👋🏽
Just bought this car and so far am extremely happy with it! Love the way it drives, and the design is fantastic! I do a lot of traveling so I think it's perfect for me (:
If you don't mind me asking are you still loving your Cruze? I'm looking into this same one and looking for advice. Thanks!
What are your thoughts 3 years later?
Kristina Wheeler question? Do you still feel the same way about this car?

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles with the steering - that stinks! hopefully it will be fixed during the second visit - let me know how it goes.
H had one of these as a rental for 3 day weekend... and i have to say I was very impressed. Far better than my girlfriend's Civic in every way. It didn't feel cheap at all and seemed like a big upgrade to a lot of the economic type small sedans out.
Autumn Metallic and it is awesome! thanks for watching my vid!
nothing is perfect my man! The Cruze is a nice little vehicle.
BTW - I picked up a slight touch of Poison Ivy during that shoot - that'll learn me to be a tree hugger lol -- thanks again for your friendship and support!
When you gave up Facebook for Lent, but it's okay to Keep Pushing PLAY!! Great review!!
I’m behind on replying to comments. See you back on FB soon.
thank you and congrats on your new CRUZE!
you can't go wrong with either car - in fact my favorite review was of the 2011 Elantra - I'll send you the link to it! Tony
Just bought the LTZ with RS package...love it. Getting 31-32 mpg in the mountains as well. Too many pros to list
i find it funny how you say "watch your head as you go in the back" because when i went car shopping, i went to sit in the back seat and MASHED my head on the stupid roof. the salesman got a good laugh from that :D
Yeah just wait until the warranties up. Then the fun begins.
Thanks! I'll keep 'em coming!
sorry to hear about the recalls - were they minor things? I loved the driving the Cruze! enjoy yours! Tony
I agree, I'm sorry that you have been having this issue. Has it been resolved?
I miss the Cobalt name badge, but in many ways this is a great car! I notice them and can say I think Chevrolet is doing good and I hope they continue to push out cars that will compete in this segment. Like always, great review!!
I agree - get it in and be forceful! You don't want to be stuck holding the ball!
I hit my head getting in the back seat too! :) Thanks for watching my video!
I'm thinking of buying Chev Cruze 2012 model. Nice review!
Thanks for watching- love that body style better than the new one!
@@averageguytested Paid mine off last year after 6 years of driving it. Holds up, minimal issues with it. only have 82k on a 2012 because I use it sparingly so hopefully I'll be able to use it in the years to come.

Great review, fast and to the point with a bit of comedy at the end.
Thanks👍🏽
Thanks for the kind words! What other cars are on your list? I've done reviews of the Focus, the Elantra and the Jetta. Check them out if you have the time.
Awesome! Chevy is back!
those big wagon wheels and rubberband tires are naturally gonna transmit more road noise and hash, as well as ride harder.
Yup
Thanks! The Cruze was a fun little ride!
I just bought a 2013 omg when I drove it its very smooth i drive it Teutonic instead of automatic you save more gas driving it manuel
Thanks! It was fun to make!
cool! i have a '97 Subaru Outback Sport with over 200k clicks on it! Good luck with the Cruze - LOVED it! Let me know what you decide to do! Tony
Love the Cruze! It's on my top 10 list for 2012!
If the Cruze had 200hp I'd be in one today. I have a Cobalt SS Turbocharged and my cars greatest asset is the performance, everything else is below average. cool, and CONGRATS! the Cruze ROCKS!
Looking at a used 2012 now - thx for the review
Good luck!
Great review , great reviewer
Alton Washington thanks my friend
no silly faces today :) have not driven the Forte - the Cruze did have some tire noise, but I love the car! Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the Cruze.
I was the 2nd to view. Wow...
Very thorough review. Plenty of polish. One of your best ever.
Another solid Video Tony.
Thanks my man! the Cruze was fun!

I love the CRUZE, but the new Malibu is supposed to be rocking - we'll have to wait and see - so I would test drive both :)
No one can steal the Cruz the driver carries the door and ignition sensor in their pockets the car responds to the sensor when the door handle is opened the ignition won't work with out the sensor also you must push the clutch in aswell and then push the button to start the engine!!
Interesting 👋🏽
I almost never have anyone in the back seat either. Funny. Thanks for watching my video!
Keep pushing it!
I didn't actually lock the trunk - the magic of the camera :)

Seems like a reasonable price, but I'm skeptical about the miles. Make sure you do a car fax to check to see if it's been in any accidents
theMediaMart ok media Mart will do
👍🏽 good luck my friend.
This guy is absolutely adorable
Which guy? 😂
Youuuuuu 💗
Thank you. 😀
Man you've gotttta hit me up!
Could give you my number, lowkey.
Years ago I rented a PT cruiser which I had been hoping to one day get to drive, there was so much wind noise that it made the experience really bad, I remember it had triple seals around the doors and even then it was noisy, It was puzzling!!!
the CRUZE rocks! - testing the Cadillac ATS now - OMG!!!
Just a question. Are there any vehicles that you have driven that you have given a thumbs down to? Just curious. I like your work. Keep it up!
I did - I'll send you a video that I made about that tree hugging experience :) thanks for watching my video! Tony
probably because it's a 2012 model - before they started to roll out the mylink across the board.
Love the car, an automatic that is also manual. Feels great to drive but starting from 0 it feels odd but atleast I can't heavy foot the gas and spill drinks
👍🏽
:) Thanks! Keep Pushing PLAY!
Great video. Thumb up! :)
You know what the car finder need to watch when they do research for their car. GOOD!
I was thinking the same thing when I reviewed it! shame. maybe the 2013 model will change that detail. I saw one on the road yesterday and it looks like they have tweaked the exterior a bit.
I'd go with the Cruze!
One the panels you zoomed in on doesn't match up with the panel next to it. I think it was the glove box. I always hate that about GM.
i'm buying a car this week. budget is 13k and i've been looking at several year old altima's, should i seriously consider this car?
how's reliability? i know ford has really gotten their act together and stepped their game up but chevy??
Thanks - it's my most recent one so maybe I'm starting to get the hang of this gig? :)
thanks for the input :)
This was a great review. No doubt about it.
Thanks for watching!
im looking into getting one my concern is will there be enough room in the back seat for three car seats? all forward face 2 of them booster seats.
Adam Ramsay I'd say it would be pretty tight - but I think that most vehicles would be too. have you thought about and SUV or even a minivan?
im wondering the same thing. i have 2 kids in car seats but also babysit one child through the week..im wondering if theyd all fit. we cant afford an SUV or minivan at the moment..we are in our early 20's . unless anyone could reccomend a cheaply priced suv

Adam Ramsay The trax might be a good choice. It has the same 1.4L Turbo and it's about the size of a CRV. The dash and center console are like the Sonic's for better or worse.
I can't wait to test drive the Trax
great review
the GTI is a good choice!
You just hugged poison ivy lol!
I think you just hugged a tree that had a poison ivy vine on it!
I agree!
yes indeed!
An average guy would have critiqued the sound system right?
You got me there. And I never have in any of my 350+ auto reviews. Boring average guy 😂
Love the Cruze! go visit the peeps @ Schulz Automotive Y'all!
power packed little car! enjoy it!
I have this car is really beautiful i loved it so much...
It is a sweet ride!
That was poison ivy my friend
Ricky Spano is was :( the worst two weeks of my life came shortly after I became as tree hugger - that'll learn me...
I plan to buy a used 2012 Chevrolet Cruze of over 196,000 km mileage, what do you think because I was told if the mileage is over 100,000 km and also its durability and maintenance cost. Thank you
That’s a lot of KMs. I’d probably look for something with much less- unless you are getting it for next to nothing.
I’m am planning to buy a used one that’s currently over 140k KMs , what will be the maintenance cost per month . Do you recommend it ? (I’m a student)
Please reply
thanks! You know - I got poison Ivy from hugging that tree LOL :)
Thanks!
