Something I forgot to mention is that the TVS on top was ordered by Tom Oberheim. I showed it to him last year at a synth meet in Alameda. When I walked him out to his car he asked me how much I was selling it for, I told him, and he said "send me an invoice!" I intend to deliver it in person before I drive back to Illinois. Hopefully that works out. Anyway I appreciate the kind words here in the chat but I don't think I'll ever get a higher compliment than that.
With Dave Smith gone, yeah, this is the peak compliment any synth designer can get. Amazing. Honestly, even at $3300 this thing seems like quite a deal - certainly something I'll be saving up for!
I’m amazed at Suit and Tie Guy. He is a one man operation but he routinely collaborates with folks like Amos Gaynes (former Moog firmware designer and now Oberheim), Tom Oberheim (who actually bought one of the Vanilla Synths), and even the late Gene Schott (not sure about the spelling but he was the former Moog tech for Keith Emerson). The dude is dedicated to his niche and has fans at a high level. I’m super happy people like him still exist.
Love all of this. Presentation, Musonics sound and quality and the fact that I feel like Penn Gillette is showcasing this for us. And happy to see Amos in the crew. Love it!
will you do more demos of this new version ? because you only played the Arp , no knob and filter action on this demo , thanks, and congrats on this beauty
Agree, only 4 minutes on the Vanilla. Would love to see a video series on this beauty, or a good Livestream. Guess I'm considered an investor and longing for more.
Always love seeing STG. The passion and effort he puts into his synths and into knobcon makes the music world a better place. I own a ton of his modules in two formats and they are all special.
I have watched all of the Sonic State videos from this year’s NAMM and this guy is by far the best presenter. He is so knowledgable about his products and does a great job keeping me (a drummer) watching a video I couldn’t have cared less about as somebody who has never used modular.
The guy was over excited and exuberant with his produce Amos the Moog genius behind this Expect some magic when the product is finished If Amos gave Moog the best I expect better here ❤️❤️❤️
I'm roused about the Vanilla synth! Would like to see what it looks like now on the back. Does Gate/Pitch on the back give you an additional 2 sets on the front? Love the balanced output, and own and love the Vanilla mixer...would that be a total of 3 normal outputs? Amos mentioned a fundamental sine wave after the filter for added girth. How is that mixed in? Continuo looks cool, but I'll wait for the final version. Thanks for the video.
You are correct, in utilizing the Studio Interface module on the backside, one can override total normaling by summing voltage and gates into the front panel modules' inputs. If you have the money, this synth sounds top tier, as to be expected from any product that this gentleman builds.
@@oldnikix Could you expand on this? I have one on order and I’m not exactly sure what you mean. I ordered this as my first modular synth so I’m still learning. While I was waiting I ended up getting some 4u stuff as well lol.
Thanks for speaking for the "international world". Yes, we were so saddened by the actions of this suit tie man. Let's hope they will address this at the next WEF.
so last year it was THROUGH HOLE and cheaper (by the way sounded phenomenal) now it is SURFACE MOUNT like all Behringers are but they ask 3300$, what the heck man 3300$ for a surface mount synth 🤦🏼♂️, no thanks i ll go for a STUDIO ELECTRONICS they still make it Through Hole
@@suitandtieguy U did a massive job last year and your Through Hole blow away all other synths, your key selling point was Through Hole and Tone to justify the price, now you are just another one of thousands of Surface Mount “hyper precise” boring metallic tone like every behringer or what ever of the shelf mass production (at least behringer is cheap for cheap to build sourface mount).
@Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND electrons don't care. I'll put my engineering against anything else in this market regardless of the shape of the components.
@ well last year you thought differently and you were FIRM and PROUD to tell that Vanilla was 100% THRU-HOLE, the question is was you a less good engineer last year?! Gene Stopp was Keith Emerson's longtime tech, and a dear dear friend. RIP. Heaven got a synth genius angel, and planet earth lost...
Great video! Loved the shoutout to the “investors”. Really excited to get mine! All the best in your endeavors.
Thank you so much for your support and patience!
Loved my STG envelope generator that I owned on my old eurorack setup. Simple yet creative and effective, lots of respect for suit and tie guy
I love this interview so much -- I want my modular system sold to me by a used car saleseman in a suit and tie and I want my beta buggy goddammit!
Get him on you podcast he's the best showman of NAMM.
Thank you for all the coverage.
Big fan of STG. A madman in all the right ways.

Dream synth I want that ob filter sound with all those bells and whistles 🤩
Great demo, very passionate about his creation, could talk to him all day
Eric, is always innovating and creating magic.
The guy obviously had a double espresso before the interview LOL
.. every five minutes
I don't think Eric needs caffeine to express excitement for his creations.

Love STG! Always great to watch his presentations! Vanilla synth looks and sounds lovey!
I almost audibly gasped when Suit said "Moog Format"
Sorry man. I fucked up.
Lol
Awesome gear and man!
Looking forward to this sparking an Audiopilz special presentation.

Very flattered. Thank you.
Suit and Tie guy is the man! I wish i could afford one of these!
Me or the synthesizer?
@ both!
Damn, if a sheet of blotter paper was included I'd be all in!
But seriously cool synths, seriously good marketing, seriously good energy. 11/10
this guy is a maniac...so much energy and potential alcohol. love him!
I told my late mother I worked like a maniac to make her proud of me. Thank you.
The continuo seems amazing. Love to join the beta
That thing sounds good.
I cant wait to get mine im so psyched thanks suit and tie guy hope to hear from you soon
Great stuff Eric! More than worth the money. Great idea to think about a Roland style arpegiator module as well as the step sequencer function...
Thats a nice arpeggiator/sequencer.
I am getting a bit seasick watching this. 🙂
Needs a keyboard with wooden side panels.
That vanilla synth sounds pretty great!
"Don't Panic!" :P
Synths sounds gooood!
Love the velour suit and comb forward... and the spiel - Classic used car salesman !
Dude that's velvet not velour
My favourite presentation so far. I'm getting GAS watching this and will investigate further. 😁

Un bel pasticcione
So, surface-mount components and highly stable oscillators now. I guess some people might like/prefer that … ? Plus it costs about 30% more now …
Nothing vanilla here.
