In this How parkour tutorial we go over the Dash Vault. The Dash vault is one of the fundamental basic vaults we are going to learn at the beginning of our training for parkour.
The Dash vault is an efficient and fast vault we can use to go over obstacles and maintain our speed during our run. This vault is also known for the unique look and style it has when it is performed.
The key points to think about while performing this parkour vault is the jump, the technique with the legs while in the air, hand positioning, and maintaining your speed throughout your landing.
One of the biggest reasons people struggle with the dash vault is they are lacking the core strength and flexibility to perform the vault. So if you have trouble or don't feel very confident with this move then you might need more core training.
Some exercises that are great for developing this core strength are butt scoots, leg lifts, and knee raises.
Another trick that will help with learning your dash vault in parkour is to use progression steps. If you watch the video above you will see towards the end, 2 great ways to progress into this move.
Don't forget if you want the extra training drills, advanced round off/ blocking techniques, and the specific muscle/coordination building exercises for the round off, join our Parkour Academy here: parkouracademy....

True story
that's funny that it's not parkour
Haha you made my day
dam son
Aw man I wanna smash that thumbs up. Went out last training wanting to learn this... turns out was only move I couldn't find the courage to do, cause I only had short walls (knee height) or rails, and couldn't break the mental barrier.
one thing that helped me was trying to just jump over the obstacle. After that it was much easier. Thx for The awesome tutorial!
Thank you very much bros. now I have it pretty much clearer than yesterday. Just have to practice, practice, practice, strenghten and practice again.
Thanks again, you´re the men.
Thank you for showing a few approaches for progressing towards the move. This is the biggest issue for me when I'm learning a new move: finding the right progression steps for me to slowly get to the move I am targeting at.
Once you have something that you can gauge the object with and that shows you that you should be able to do the move where you are trying to do it, the mental aspect becomes a much smaller problem.
Thanks for all the vids, today was my first parkour atempt, which means just running around sliding over things jumping and falling of course, tomorrow im going more prepared. Thanks again.
So... You wrote that about 11 months ago, do you still do parkour? Have you gotten any better at it?
thank you very much guys...you are great and friendly and sincer..i was looking and searching to learn about parkour, but in turkey just a few people are interested in parkour..i have backround 11yrs taekwondo but but after waching your videos..i decided to learn parkour..couse i like jumping and moviment and action:)and your parkor videos are very good and helpfull and in details...thanks for not hading skills..and your videos gives me power and wishes to learn that..hope you will share more videos..wish you the best..i wanan ask you some thing, is it ok making body boulding for parkour.or it is not good for parkours flexibility .thanks for your lessons ..one follower from istanbul..
i'm not sure which video i watched to help train the lower abs for this, but it was really helpful that you guys explained alternatives to help with the v-sits, it is extremely hard to maintain a v-sit if you dont commonly workout your lower abs, but the butt-scoots really make it easy to build up to the level of strenght, and also realizing going through all your videos and trying to learn all your techniques, a strong core will definitely make performance much easier. thanks Tappbrothers for all your time and patience! looking forward to see more o you guys perform freely and some POV shots.
No body care's what you think with your Chinese stank a$$
Well I'm glad to know you're one to smell people's a$$, as well as how perceptive you are to know I'm Chinese, not to mention my a$$ does smell, especially after taking a massive dump.
Only been doing parkour for 2 months, so happy I learned how to do a dash yesterday
You still training?
a nice tip for doing these on rails is to grab the rail with one hand facing forwards, and the other one pointing backwards
Some tips from me: don't forget to pull the leg ,you're thrusting with, up; try doing the vault slowly on a low and relevantly soft obstacle so that you feel comfortable flying with your body almost leant backwards and then relying on your hands to stabilize you. After I realized those, I did the vault!
Great tutorial! One question I've always had is what are the functional differences between the dash vault and the kong vault? What situations are best suited to each? It seems like anything you could clear with a dash you could also clear with a kong, but I'm not sure the opposite is true.
I learned parkour like this:
I Played Mirror's Edge
Was that an attempt at humour?
I have found their techniques very helpful and now i am able to jump from 15feet in the air
just a tip for this trick: if you have two such containers side by side with a 75 cm between them with a gymnastics mat against it, you can also learn this trick, without pain. if you mis, the mat just falls on the ground.
Gonna try this one
What kinda of situations would you use the vault in? The only time I would use this vault would be if there is a drop, but again I could just kash. Would it be if for example your in an alley way and you need to tac over a fence then vault over it?
Thanks coaches
The one with the fadora looks kinda like Chuck Norris
haha yeah that was Jonathan, he's growing out his beard and hair
+TappBrothers my name is Jonathan =D lol
+Oscar Harvey Jones don't worry because you're not the only one
AwesomeCheesePanda1
Johnathan was styling with that fedora.
Hi TappBrothers, I have problem that if the obstacle is to lower and my jump is too high so its just become difficult for me to place my hands. Thanks for your help.
Thank you!! I did it!! You're great:D
Valentin Wiese thank you
Did anyone else notice the spelling mistake at 8:06??
progrssion??? I think you mean *progression
These don't usually bother me, but I have seen so many in your videos. Please proof read.
P.S love what you guys are doing. You guys are just plain awesome!
Did you understand what he was trying to say and show you? Then stop acting like an ass.

You are cool, dont stop making videos.
I will always like tappbrother videos
u make it look so easy
im going to try this progressions :)
this is really useful thanks
Hey guys, when i'm practicing this move i tend to lean to the side of the foot i push off of and that hand hits the object first and my hands aren't hitting at the same time...any tips?
Great video!!
Somehow the dash vault is my nemesis, stumbling block! But this lesson has a lot of helpful suggestions. Would be cool at least ones to practice with a good freerunner ...anyone in vicinity of Santa Monica pear?
Nice presentation
the way i learnt the dash vault is by having the speed of a speed vault but slowly putting my one hand behind me, eventually turning it into a two hand behind me. Landing with a split foot with the dash is more effective than landing with both feet, unless you want to go into a front flip.
Really good tutorial! :)
I tried this yesterday and i cliffed in the wall so i landed on my head really hard xD
Nice tutorial
Who knows where to get a vaulting box like the one in this video?
you can practice vault at bench
curbstone
and some..uh...
table?you can do some wall climbing or some normal climbing
I know that but I want a vault box for my house because I'm building my own training area.
build it yourselve then =='
I thought it was part of some skating ramp or half pipe.
aussiehypebeast Amazon that's where I got my one. :)
hi tapp brothers thanks about all the tutorials. and please can you do tutorial about the speed vault
+Hanna Amal Abu Rahmy I think they have, if not look at jesse la flairs tutorial

You guys are the most adorable Ginger Ninja's around! ;)
Suzy Wilson thats what i thought!!
:D Great minds...
He looks like the pikey from "Snatch" at 11:31! XD
good video
Ur sooooo awesome!!!!!
dear tapp bros can you make a wall climb video?
I have a problem; I can't even sit with my legs stretched and at the same time have my back straight, let alone touch my knees with my head. Is it even possible to bridge that large a gap by just stretching, or is my body just screwed?
yes it is possible
Done ✅
When you wanna practice parkour in your backyard and your backyard is just useless that has nothing useful to practice with •_•
BUT WHYYYYYYYYYYY😭😭
Hey im really interested in this sport but i dont have the conditions to start. What kinda exercises do you recommend?
Stop calling it a "sport" and you'll understand what it means.
I have kinda short arms when I try to do this vault I hit my butt. I am just starting out. Is this something that I should be able to overcome with training or should I just skip this one?
There is a fact that I learnt the kash before the dash... OMG
Do we have to kick with bout legs? because I feel more comfortable kicking with my left leg, I feel like I don't lose as much momentum, but I don't know, maybe I'm doing it wrong?
Why on earth is there a dislike button on this video???
There will always be haters, ppl that just need to be ignored
Why can't they have the same like comments? So you can't see them.
can you help me ?
Every Time i am trying that move i cant touch the wall because im jumping way to high. is there a way how to get the jump just as high as i need ?
nice
were do you buy those vault boxes?
I'm new to parkour. are there any vaults for something higher than your jump, but with no walls to run up?
gate vault, turn vault, reverse vault, kong vault, lazy vault.... but these require a gate, a rail or an other obstacle.
That’s crazy how easily he goes onto an L sit. Fit bastard
Do you have to take gymnastics to do parkour? Like is it a 'must' in order to do parkour??
No. Alot of people who are very good at free running never took gymnastic classes. Like Ronnie Shalvis. And I don't think the tappbrothers or Jesse Laflair have either.
The Tapp Brothers did not go to a gym or anything like that. They learned Parkour all by themselves
I am a 12 year old kid wanting to be on American ninja warrior and I want you to know that you help me out so much
Thank you for that and I hope you respond back
hi Tapp brothers
can you help me with my dash vault I have 2 concerns
1. my legs don't come together after jumping and when my right leg lands my left is still somewhat parallel to the ground (i jump off my left)
2. im always only vaulting with my left hand
are these problems and how can I solve them?
Hey.. Ive been trying this trick for more then 2 weeks and im able to jump and get to the other side of the wall, but when i jump i can place only my right hand on the obstacle and my left hand goes upwards. How do i fix it. Please help.
please tell how to do diving speed vault
FYI, height does not have an extra "h" at the end.
Where did you get that vault box?
+TappBrothers u have to be able to hop over it to even start right
I can do it but I can't seem to keep my legs straight and can't kick out when placing my hands.
+trapp brothers so you have to be able to hop over enable to even start
I am very short (under 5 foot) and physically my arms arn't long enough to even do a video sit. My question is if I would even be able to do this type vault being as short as I am?
how many tall are you in Centimetres
Whoops random "many" there lol
147. Something
+Callie Whitmore just practice, makes perfect
Callie Whitmore yes actually you just need to lift you hips up when you plant your hands so you don't hit your butt
How do you get so much volume in your hair?
Side flip :D
Do you have any flexibility exersizes?
Where can I purchase a vault box? I know I can make one, but I'd much rather purchase a good one.
I want it too but i dont know where i can find it
How tall are they. I'm 6'3 s there any problems with that. I mean besides all the ledges being so small
It feels like my hips get stuck between my arms while swinging through. I can kong but this one's tough.
You spelt progression worng but pretty good video
where did you got the vault box??
THANK GOD I HAVE GYM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear tappbrothers can you help me idk how to get a vault
haha I was practising this today On a big oak log and hit my hand a Bit too hard On the corky surface and now it hurts like hell
i wish do i can do those parkour stuff, but i can t because i m little bit fat and i m training rowing which will give me strength
+DJ Point™ Just keep it up man and you can do it!
Vape Bros but i am fat and of course il keep rowing
Well just try to be confident
Vape Bros okay :D
Do you know why Everytime I do the dash vault there is much impact on my arms
Camera Guy From Outlast Does Dash Vault
Who new Abraham did parkour
@TappBrothers I've got the dash vault down but I've noticed that with constant practice I'm getting lower back pain, any reason why I'm getting that??
Its Because Your Body Isnt Used To Doing Continous Training. Just Dont Mind It, If you Practice Practice More, Your Body Will Slowly Get Used to It
+Ghost Is same here
hey,i have an idea for you:
take a boy who doesn't know how to do parkour then start making videos while you teach him .
Why does it have to be a boy?
v6 Colin Why do u have to make this a gender issue?
do you need to know the dash vault if you already know how to do a kong vault?
+Cara Manolache it depends on your intention of doing parkour. Either, you wanted to learn more different kinds of vaults, or having only those necessary moves. It's great cause you already have your kong vault, but in my opinion, it's pretty awesome to learn both dash and kong so that you might have an option of vaulting an obstacle depending on your style.
+Hugh James-Berry thanks
+Cara Manolache Dash volt is not that usefull but it looks awesome, just as a front flip looks awesome. And you can learn either kong or dahs pretty independently
Jean-Michel Content Indeed... I myself, haven't learned the dash vault yet, but i do have my kong so there's nothing to worry about
*dive kong
Alot of the time when i dash i end up just jumping over and my hands just brush over the obstacle
I get all that, but what's the way to overcome the fear in your head of failing?
do it on something safer and just fall on your bum a few times :) then your fear should slowly disappear
try doing it on your bed. place a pillow which will be your obstacle and try doing the dash vault over that. I used to be able to do this move a few weeks back but I injured myself so I can't do it on a high obstacle now. so back to bed. lol
LOL.
Thanks for the Help BTW. :)
Abdullah Adil sure thing man :)
How do you make a box like the one in the video?
Get a few panels screw them together and cut a few holes for handles
I have the same shoes
I have nowhere to practice the dash however I do have 2 styrophom blocks that are about knee hight but I can't do it on them because it's so short :(
How about a bed
make a box
I have seen other tracers sort of bend down a bit before going into the dash to get over lower surfaces
Matthew Sansom stack em
Hey do yo have a parkour academi in Puerto Rico
I so hope so
i worry about hitting my feet... what do i do?
chachacakes turn off your brain so you don't worry about anything
Hey I been doing the L-sit and the V-sit work out and my core hurts. What does that mean
It means that your muscles are getting bigger and stronger
So it completely fine :)
That's a good sign, that means your muscles are growing to become stronger
+GHOST-DTOWN_303 it means your abbs are getting stronger
Umm I don't get how you lift up wih your core...
Knee tuck.
+ADogGoezWoof. it will be hard at first but just sit on a pole and place yor hands beside your lap and then try pull up and hold for half a second, and then improve that time you hold it up for
