    Magnificent work boys! I can not describe the joy when that engine started. I would just call myself an enthusiast, who loves automobiles. I have been planning to get a 4EFTE in my EE110 Toyota Corolla 1995 model. Your videos are an inspiration. Love from Bangladesh!

    Hey Matt, I have a question about your 300hp stock internals vid you did...we know them stock rods ended up bending, but how would the OEM 4E-FTE pistons hold up with say a set of Maxspeedingrods or similar connecting rods??? Did you ever try to work out the limits of the stock pistons yet? Love you so much it hurts.

    I love this! How long did it last? I have a question for you. I checked OEM numbers between 4efe and 4efte camshafts and they are different. What should I source to get a 4efe engine block and head like a 4efte? You already told me that the lower block is the same (block, crankshaft) besides the oil filter relocation bracket. What else should I be aware of? Thanks!

    • @MattBerrymotorsport

      Cams are the same. Even if they were slightly different in some way it is no benefit picking one set over the other. Spend the money and get a decent set, stock are junk

    Starlet never made it to the states in any numbers. We got the Rwd from the early 80's. They go for 8-10k US now. Fwd looks like such fun cars to tinker with. Someone needs to start importing them. Could make a decent profit off one and the right buyer.

    Do you have any inputs on using vitara piston or d16 ycp piston on 4e. Planning to build my engine next year but they say that vitara piston would have very low comp to our engine my 2nd option is the ycp p29 piston higher comp and nearly identical to the dimensions of 4efe piston. Ycp piston have good reputation in honda ranging from 400 to 600hp

    • @MattBerrymotorsport

      Ive heard of people using them in some of the Honda's however I can't get my head around how they are supposed to be a quality piston at only $25 each. It really makes no sense to me lol.

    So are 4E-FTE rods forged? How about 4E-FE rods, do they handle a small boost? I mean just like 0.8 - 1.0 bar? Is there some difference between 4e-fe & 4e-fte rods lenghtwise?

    • @MattBerrymotorsport
      @MattBerrymotorsport  3 роки тому +1

      I think they are, but the worry is the material they are made from. We don't know the quality for sure...

      I know it looks ridiculess but I actually use this method on my other engines, I use a cutting disc instead so the ring keeps its square edge and i take a lot more time so im careful. I end up getting the ring gaps within 1 thou of each other. Works really well.
      We didn't even measure the ring gaps in this episode and I still can't believe how smooth it runs with next to no blow by.
      But still, do it properly and take your time lol

      As you said in the video, the engine would probably last longer than other perfectly built forged engines 😂
      I am building mine. I bought Maxpeeding rods and wossner pistons. Fte cams and ARP headbolts. I don’t feel like notching the head to free space for the bolts. Is it so necessary if I aim 350 hp max? Also, skimming 0.2 mm the head what HG thickness do you suggest? 1.2 or more?

    • @MattBerrymotorsport
      @MattBerrymotorsport  2 місяці тому +1

      You will need to clearance the block anyway for the rods but don’t worry too much about head gasket sizing, it’s not really important if you’re running e85 or a high octane fuel. If you’re using regular unleaded fuel use a thicker head gasket to lower the comp

    • @djfrankieflowers
      @djfrankieflowers 2 місяці тому

      @@MattBerrymotorsportI would like to use both octanes. I mostly use e85 but I want to feel safe I don’t ruin the engine if I have to run lower octane fuel. I shall then get a 1.4 mm head gasket. Right now on my stock fte I have a shimmed 0.2 mm head with a stock 1.2 mm HG. I run 206 HP at 1.1 BAR. Temps are fine. No knocking neither detonation. I have a solenoid to run 1.3 BAR and it makes around 235 HP.
