Magnificent work boys! I can not describe the joy when that engine started. I would just call myself an enthusiast, who loves automobiles. I have been planning to get a 4EFTE in my EE110 Toyota Corolla 1995 model. Your videos are an inspiration. Love from Bangladesh!
Yo boys we have fixed the smoke problem click the link below!!

That exhaust manifold looks 🔥🔥🔥
Should've chucked them rods and pistons into a vibratory tumbler XD
Im surprised actually how smooth it runs haha
Man I love you videos!
We Enjoy watching your channel 👌 Great vibes , We definitely support big time 🥂😎
Supporting from Las Vegas
Thanks mate!!
Hey Matt, I have a question about your 300hp stock internals vid you did...we know them stock rods ended up bending, but how would the OEM 4E-FTE pistons hold up with say a set of Maxspeedingrods or similar connecting rods??? Did you ever try to work out the limits of the stock pistons yet? Love you so much it hurts.
Well done Matt, dodgy and good all at once!! XD
Just the way you like it Mick!
@@MattBerrymotorsport spot on mate!
Thanks for the instructions on how to make 74 mm piston rings of 74.5 mm :D
Haha don't laugh, it worked!
Love the vids Im looking to put a 5efe in my tercel any advice on what supplies i need to get
Really depends how far you want to go man. Check out my other videos for more info
We've all done it... the only difference is that you published it ha.
I knew there would be someone else out there pete!!
I love this! How long did it last? I have a question for you. I checked OEM numbers between 4efe and 4efte camshafts and they are different. What should I source to get a 4efe engine block and head like a 4efte? You already told me that the lower block is the same (block, crankshaft) besides the oil filter relocation bracket. What else should I be aware of? Thanks!
Cams are the same. Even if they were slightly different in some way it is no benefit picking one set over the other. Spend the money and get a decent set, stock are junk
@@MattBerrymotorsport which brand do you suggest? Thanks!
How much torque those bolt get
Cannot wait to see what it is really going to make on the Dyno lol
She's gonna go 300+ for sure
How did you go with your head gasket problem?
@@MattBerrymotorsport so for so good I am using 90 in the car now so just going to work with that and see
@@MattBerrymotorsport cannot wait to see that
Cool man hopefully your gasket holds together
I am curious, just super curious 😅
Starlet never made it to the states in any numbers. We got the Rwd from the early 80's. They go for 8-10k US now. Fwd looks like such fun cars to tinker with. Someone needs to start importing them. Could make a decent profit off one and the right buyer.
Yeah the rwd ones are worth a stupid amount here too. FWD ones are getting hard to find also. Fun and simple cars to work on :)
Nicks first car where the engine number matches the plate
nicks only car with matching numberplate too 😂
@@MattBerrymotorsport That really hurts my feelings.
Do you have any inputs on using vitara piston or d16 ycp piston on 4e. Planning to build my engine next year but they say that vitara piston would have very low comp to our engine my 2nd option is the ycp p29 piston higher comp and nearly identical to the dimensions of 4efe piston. Ycp piston have good reputation in honda ranging from 400 to 600hp
Ive heard of people using them in some of the Honda's however I can't get my head around how they are supposed to be a quality piston at only $25 each. It really makes no sense to me lol.
@@MattBerrymotorsport yeah iam also finding it hard to believe but ill give it a try hahaha ill let you know if its any good it may open a new budget setup to 4e🤣
@@rje1407 4efe pistons are already good for 300+hp
Let me know how you go it could be a great little upgrade for others :)
Hi Matt, cool build. Great to see some old parts come alive. As you said might actually last longer than expected.
Wondering if you managed to confirm the part number for the valve springs?
I had a look here performancesprings.com.au/46-cylinder-singles/ but hoping you can confirm.
Nah i havent yet, no reply. Ill try again.
So are 4E-FTE rods forged? How about 4E-FE rods, do they handle a small boost? I mean just like 0.8 - 1.0 bar? Is there some difference between 4e-fe & 4e-fte rods lenghtwise?
I think they are, but the worry is the material they are made from. We don't know the quality for sure...
1 Bar on stock skinny rods no worries :)
Funny enough ive never actually owned a genuine 4efte engine lol cant tell you that answer sorry man
@@MattBerrymotorsport Thanks a lot! This helps me a lot further in my project.
10:44 don't think ive ever seen that technique before lol
I know it looks ridiculess but I actually use this method on my other engines, I use a cutting disc instead so the ring keeps its square edge and i take a lot more time so im careful. I end up getting the ring gaps within 1 thou of each other. Works really well.
We didn't even measure the ring gaps in this episode and I still can't believe how smooth it runs with next to no blow by.
But still, do it properly and take your time lol
And what kind of coils those
Camry. The bodies are skinny and they are too tall but they still work fine
Hey Bro where is the Dyno video for the blue car
I have the same question, thought we were going to see the dyno video for the cars built in the upload before this one.
Hey man i had a last minute decision and ordered a new haltech for it and sold the microtech to Nick. Ill explain all that in a couple days...blue car engine is running great though :)
Well a haltech is a good upgrade so I wish u the best and will be waiting to see the Results. Cheers
@@trdja ecu has arrived and im just waiting for the new connectors to arrive. Hopefully wire it up this weekend :D cheers mate hopefully it all goes well

@@MattBerrymotorsport That's my kind of workplace😎 Love the vids and the starlets. Cheers
@@bluespinningdotinspace shit everywhere and we know where everything is? 😂 cheers mate
I didn’t see anything wrong until the angle grinder came out😂
Haha sometimes you need to break the rules!
Good day can dm you on any platform?
Was the old Engine was crashed? And when yes, why? Too much boost?
Too much boost, stock skinny rods :(
@@MattBerrymotorsport okay thanks, i wanna Build a Turbo in my starlet ep91, What do I have to install so that the engine doesn't break? Or only the Stock Engine and ecu with lowboost? For example 8psi? Thanks for your help!!!
You didn’t measure the ring gap after grinding it?
Absolutely not. Ended up making 410 hp on 30 psi
As you said in the video, the engine would probably last longer than other perfectly built forged engines 😂
I am building mine. I bought Maxpeeding rods and wossner pistons. Fte cams and ARP headbolts. I don’t feel like notching the head to free space for the bolts. Is it so necessary if I aim 350 hp max? Also, skimming 0.2 mm the head what HG thickness do you suggest? 1.2 or more?
You will need to clearance the block anyway for the rods but don’t worry too much about head gasket sizing, it’s not really important if you’re running e85 or a high octane fuel. If you’re using regular unleaded fuel use a thicker head gasket to lower the comp
@@MattBerrymotorsportI would like to use both octanes. I mostly use e85 but I want to feel safe I don’t ruin the engine if I have to run lower octane fuel. I shall then get a 1.4 mm head gasket. Right now on my stock fte I have a shimmed 0.2 mm head with a stock 1.2 mm HG. I run 206 HP at 1.1 BAR. Temps are fine. No knocking neither detonation. I have a solenoid to run 1.3 BAR and it makes around 235 HP.
I have 5 E it spin connectrod bearing
Unlucky. Just a question, what turbo and what boost were you running?
This seems to be a common problem with forged engines trying to make big hp with small turbos...
Doge live stream
Lol.....good value video
So much rambling 😂😂
@@MattBerrymotorsport yet so much useful information
