@@alvinsautos7527 it really does handle. I ended up running a new tune as well. I have the hypertech street runner EPROM which I really like. It lowers the engine temp by kicking the cooling fans on at 208°F rather than 240°F and changes when the torque converter lockup happens as well as the air fuel mixture for a bit more throttle response. With all that, I'm still getting around 22MPG. I agree with you, I like the look of the L98 engine and not having to work over fenders in the C4 is super nice.
The vettes from 84 to 91 had issues with the cats where they would fail and block the exhaust gradually causing overheating or block the exhaust entirely where they would need to be replaced. I had an 88 that always ran hot, I found out it was the cats so I deleted the 3 lower ones and it sounded awesome. The other two up on each header were not replaced but eventually did fail and the car stopped running. I sold it and bought a 95 that ran like a champ. Great cars all of them and fun to drive because they drove like a big car with a soft ride but when you wanted to hit the turns it drove like a gokart. Amazing cars.
There are so many base Corvettes. C5s are going for $15k all day. That's why C4s are $8-10k. It's a pecking order and C5s were hugely popular at launch so there always are a bunch for sale.
Most C4’s are very high mileage or abused and have lots of deferred maintenance…and no ownership or service history. This one is not that way and is in excellent condition with no excuses.

Yes, I've driven the manual, very nice shifting 4-speed (with the +3 "gears"). Good eye re the wheels...we knew the wheels weren't mounted properly but just left them as-is for the next owner to rectify.

The Bosh electronics under the hood were problem some, mass air flow, map sensors, vats key ignition problems etc etc not to mention the leaky intake manifold gaskets, hope you never have to remove the trans or rear diff.. ahh the good old days😄
That reserve is WAY too high for a "sunny day" car that has 58K miles. I bought a "brass hat" special '86 C4 in late '86 with 4300miles for $26K. I sold it after 12mo for $19K with 6500 miles on the clock, in Sept (bad time to sell a 'VETTE). This one in the auction could possibly pull $10k, but no more. The mileage is too high! Sorry to rain on your parade, but it is what it is!

Cheap plastic parts that get brittle and crack with age and the dash loses its mind whereas the digital lights are non performing after a few years requiring a rebuild. Then there was the manual with the overdrive that would go out, this Corvette is in great shape but as a collector I still would not buy it.. The early c4 are junk and really the only year a smart collector would buy is the 1996.
I have the 85 I purchased in 1991 at age 23 and I wouldn't trade it ...the later versions had too much bullshit like air bags ABS and opti spark. They're also very soft... mostly a touring car.. my 85 modded is a track beast with only fuel injection no unnecessary bullshit

In Florida with torrential down pours 😂and never had an issue.. the only time this car left me stranded was when the fuel pump blew a fuse I recently purchased it and I had limited mechanical ability as I was in my early twenties. These cars had 330 ft lb of torque!!!! Not much on the road at that time would touch it.. they turned almost a full G on the skid pad!! The car has almost 50/50 weight distribution !!! These cars were banned from scca events because they smoked everything from Porsche to Ferrari so they were relegated to a Corvette only event called the Corvette Challenge 😂 given the awesome ahead of its time suspension these cars are still very desirable as track day cars!!! The control arms and subframe are aluminum!!! Very easy to set up at home
It's 225HP, btw. Most SUVs on the road NOW, will NOT do 0-60 in under 6sec. FACTS! Don't see very many "Grandmas" driving "Track Hawks". Fyi, torque is MORE important for getting off the line. The 'VETTE has GOBS of LOW END torque!!

I was a Chevy mechanic in the 80’s and the 84-85 Vettes were very problematic. Leaky intake manifolds and bad instrument clusters
No such issues with this one...

This 85 doesn't have any issues. It's been in CA, having only two owners who have maintained it well. Yes, the 96 was a great car, especially the LT4.

By far the worst corvette ever made. Drive through a puddle and it will shut down. Electrical issues and was slower than a dodge omni.
With the "TPI" (not the '84), it was good for 0-60 in under 6sec. Not too bad for an '80s car!
Never had any issues with it. Regarding performance, a stock 85 does 13.9 in the quarter mile.
