    I spend at least 2 hrs a weekend soaking up the wisdom of Dr Mcgilchrist and this is the best synopsis I have heard so far of him describing the roles of the right and left hemispheres. It's a privilege to listen to a podcast like this.❤

    A wonderful conversation. When you were talking about education and how we have gotten so far course was spot on. I am a homeschooling mom, who educates under the class tradition of the trivium and the quadtrivium, which talks about geometry just as you were talking about it. Using the 7 liberal arts. Thank you for this interview can't wait for the next one.

    I would love to know what the beginning Theme Tune is with the piano? I love that. Also a great listen, thank you.

    I had hoped there would be a conversation between you both, and what a wonderful conversation it was, with many rich threads. This is what I imagine a real education is; drawing something out of the individual rather than pushing something in. I look forward to the second conversation. Many thanks

    This was otherworldly! This talk changed my life! I wish I knew how to proceed in crossing over from left to right and back into the whole. There needs to be a school based on this discussion!

      Blake I would suggest sitting with yourself on a regular basis. We live 2 lives and one of them is internal. I hope you get to where you want to go on this path

    Loved the bit about the syllogism, which reminded me of the one about the dog:
    No dog has 6 legs; a dog has 4 more legs than no dog; therefore a dog has 10 legs. 😉

    Even cultures can shape your perception of reality. As you learn to appreciate certain attitudes and concepts and discard others. Could we inherit traits or ways of thinking about the world we see?

    • @maxsterling8203
      @maxsterling8203 2 роки тому

      Yes Mr. MacSkimming , if you research the video description you’ll find a button named show transcript. I love mentioning this as a first comment on videos I am fortunate enough to be the first commentator on. People love it because it’s very common for them to be unaware transcripts are usually there. I hope it helps you

    Brilliant! This talk makes so much sense it's not even funny especially the part where you said the left brain doesn't know what it is which seems to be the case for most human beings

    Such a great conversation, and finishing on an exciting note - but surely you both don't really think "god" is a "boy", do you?

    • @plekkchand
      @plekkchand 3 роки тому

      Yes, they actually do believe "god" is a "boy"- a 7-year old, in fact, living in Indiana who enjoys video games. When I learned this, I discounted their whole approach.

      Great left brain question and thought.

    McGilchrist has taken the theories of Julian Jaynes to an extended or in som aspects refined and clarified level I would say. Still Janyes´ theories on consciousness lingers unaddressed or ignored or undealt with. McGilchrist deals with the function of the brain and awareness. Jaynes´ focus and mission was consciousness. Jaynes is a hard problem for the consciousness community to allude to Chalmers.

    True Holism must include Reductionism, otherwise it's a "Reductive Holism" rather than "Holistic Holism"!
