I actually did this in a different way I unhooked all the tubes and speakers on mine and replaced the old cracked paper speaker with a newer full range speaker from the 60s. I screwed it in and also bought a 40 watt Bluetooth amplifier for 15$. It’s about the size of a playing card and it had a knob built in for on/off and volume so I replaced the volume knob with that and put the original knob back on for looks and the sound quality and ease of use is amazing.
These antique radios can easily be fully restored to original working order. A far greater achievement than butchering them tech that will never stand the test of time like these antique radios have.
I know, clueless people turn a nice radio that is restoreable into a BT amp holder. If they had a clue, they would have the radio restored, then add an 'input' so they can feed their BT receiver, CD player or whatever into the radios amp and play their music. A switch selected between the input and the radio. Just the look on this guys face, like hey look at me! I destroyed a nice vintage radio, but modernized it into a 'shelf' that holds modern junk. They need to repurpose IKEA furniture or find an old microwave cart and modernize it with a BT amp.
Hopefully you placed that speaker back inside the cabinet against the side, so that you or whoever inherits it next can bring it back to life. These old sets are still very good performers and as others have said, may still be outfitted with a Bluetooth receiver but retain the rest of the set. If you would like to properly restore this set, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
👍Good job- you can also use a bluetooth speaker while restoring & play music off your phone. For the grillcloth replacement, a good open-weave type fabric is ideal like the plastic fabric placemats they sell at walmart + dollar tree.
Hi brain : Many people can repair and restore the vintage radios, but very little technicians who can clean it properly and turn it into zero In the whole case and the backlit machine just like the China plates after geting washed ! Who can do it is a ginues ! Very very little technicians who can dismental to repair and clean the vintage radio machines and assemble em again , who can do that is a truly genius, do you agree with me !
you did not fix it, you removed the speaker and put garbage inside. How about you remove the chassis restore it by replacing the bad failed components. then replace the wiring and bolt the speaker back on.

Just my opinion....Don't ruin anymore of these join an antique radio club and learn how to repair these.
Grill cloths are available.
Forget the Alexa, Put new fabric and fix grill and speaker wires.
You ruined it man. That radio could have easily been restored. Could have been fitted with a Bluetooth receiver but kept original.
Nothing like destroying a beautiful piece of Americana.
Very cool 😎 Sherman

Poor radio....destroyed🤦♂️
LOL you didn't even need to cut the wire to throw that alexa thing in...

It's 1:20 in the morning and you just started my wife's proxy speaker off!! Lmao
Alcohol is running this video.
Could have been a nice radio once again, oh well another one lost.
Another one lost to the clueless.
Surely without Alexa speaker it woudnt be picking up much there nice but soon in the uk long wave and medium is being switched off
You have spoiled an antique.
I think that is an Ingraham cabinet as well. Tag on the upper back. At least the guy kept the chassis, so the next owner can restore it properly.
Aside from ALEXA, nice Radio cabinet.
It’s Alexa’s Grandma 👵
Awesome!

Right! Too much of this repurposing crap going on today.
