You just can't beat the looks of a well-used old radio. They have a warmth and charm modern products cannot compete with. As a family air loom, it should be restored one day with the replacement of tired old components to give the best possible sound. Its wooden case came up beautifully with a bit of tlc. Very enjoyable video, thank you.
I am so glad that you went down the route or keeping the original hardware for future restoration. I almost felt like I was going to go off on a rant about destroying perfectly good, restorable, radios only to put in modern garbage. At least you didn't paint it white and beat it with chains to make it look 'better'..
Exactly. I do many of these, and this is a great video explaining how. Now anyone can change the materials, etc, but make sure not to damage any old parts. That way, if someone wants to restore to the original, they can.
I use a simpler method. I simply connect a small portable Bluetooth device, with a cable, to it’s record player input. 30s 40s and 50s models use a socket that is compatible with a standard modern European electric plug.
Excellent video! I love how particular and detailed you are, mixing vintage electronics and a bit of woodworking and restoration all together! We could be brothers!! Really enjoyed
you know you can just tap into the radios tube amplifier section with the bluetooth module. You can even put a toggle switch to pick radio / bluetooth.
Or just pick a frequency switch already in the board and rewire that for bt, since half the AM stations mentioned on these world radios are already gone.
Good morning, I would like to do the same thing with an old radio that I inherited... but I'm not very expert, is it possible to have the connection diagram between the transformer and the light bulbs? How did you connect with the old PC transformer and the amplifier power ? thanks so much for your help.
Very nice. It probably wouldn't be hard to get the radio to work. Change out all of the capacitors and check the resistor values, change them out if necessary. Probably fire right up. That broken dial cable will probably give you more grief than the electronics. I hate those things. Some wraparound several knobs and pulleys, make 90* turns... Just a pain in the @$$.
What a truly amazing job, congratulations! My project these days is converting a B3X70U Philips Radio (1957) to bluetooth. I was wondering if you could post the eletronics/wiring details? Did you keep the old electronics working? Thanks!
You mean to connect wires to the power supply? I used simple lever wire connectors similar to these www.amazon.com/Connectors-Conductor-Combination-Assortment-Connection/dp/B07SFCCPZ6/ref=sr_1_7_sspa?crid=ZIYFWO3E2RAR&keywords=cable%2Bconnectors&qid=1705874214&sprefix=cable%2Bconnectors%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-7-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&th=1
I am doing similar project and would love to see the wiring details and the bluetooth amp that you used to buy the same. particularly interested to understand how you use the one power source to power the amp and the lights as I am looking to do the same, thanks Paul
Unfortunately the Amazon link for this product is no longer available... By the way the name of the ampli is KKmoon TDA7492 Wireless BT 4.0. Dual channel 50+50 W
Thanks for a great video. I am very new to this subject. I am thinking of a modernising a vintage radio to play 30s and 40s music from websites directly and maybe play old recordings in mp3 format by artist. This would give it an authentic feel. I would like it to play music and choose stations from websites wirelessly directly, not just Bluetooth through my phone or tablet. Is this possible at all? I gather there is a way with a couple of modules that I can fit together myself. I’ve seen video’s but as a newbie not understood the programming of pi or arduino. Is there any cheap pre programmed modules out there? Regards
can i ask a question? I followed your video and have converted a couple of vintage radios now and they look and sound great, but when you switch them on and connect to a bluetooth device the volume of the connection sound is so loud!! is there any way of turning this down so it doesnt scare me to death?
My question is Why to convert a vintage tube type radio to a receiver with modern sound resources ? For me the value of these converted radio is zero....
Les fils de tissus auraient ete plus vintages a mon avis. Hormis cela, j ai apprécié le travail de restauration de qualite. A supposer que les anciens HP sont incompatibles avec la moderne tech...
This isn't conversion. You discarded everything except casing and dial glass. Bluetooth module will become obsolete in few years... Proper way is to reuse radio (and restore it) and then add a BT

How do i do this

Great job and beautiful unit 😎👍
You can allways attach an external bluetooth device, to your radio input sockets.
No need to make modifications.
Brilliant enjoyed the video what a lovely radio
Superb work!
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing!
I think it was a fantastic project
Would it be possible to attach a list of items that you purchased to make this happen? Thanks!
Nice, although a light bulb makes a poor replacement for a magic eye tube.
I agree!
I don't think he even knows that it was a magic eye.
Brilliant job, sure he would proud have a nice day friend !!!. Brian UK !!!.😀😀👍👍!!!.
Thanks Brian !!!
Are the original internals still working along the electronics ?

자연스러운 개조 아주 좋았습니다...
I’m looking to do this with a old unit as well, thank you!
Have fun !!
Good job 👏
Wow! A good work and a beautiful video!
Thanks Gianni!
usually old speaker elements are way better sounding than anything modern avaliable...
Also see: *Jim Burns* He does full restorations.
how did you get power to light?
How is the laptop power supply maintaining power to the bluetooth module? Is it plugged into power somewhere? Please advise
H, yes the laptop power supply is powered by the 220V home power net
Question: you clicked on a remote at the end, where did the music come from? Your phone? A flash stick? This is where I am confused about these.
Hi ! Music comes from my phone via bluetooth

Hi, sure I can send u a simple scheme. You can write me a mail to woodoogarage@gmail.com
Hi!! Can i have these file too?
At 4:10 you put bulbs in some power string. What did you use?
Hi, do you mean the bulb holder you see at 05:10? I used the original ones that were in the radio
00:55 WOW what a beautiful old radio. I would love a Ducati tube radio.
1:20 SAY WHAT NOW!!
NOOOoooooooooooo...........
How did you connect the bulbs to the power supply? Looks like you cut the wire and used some plastic gizmo? Sorry I'm a real newb

Same here. I found many similar videos but this one is the only one that wires the old lights into the BT system
super video and radio ❤
Could you kindly put the link of the chip? Nice work and well detailed video

Whats with the freaking eternal intro?
Great video. It's a brilliant job. Could you please tell me how you powered the light with the amp?
Tu peut ajoute un port USB

Hmm... I'd like to know more about how you wired the lights to the PSU.
Hi
Can you send me the Radionette
Great job.
Hi, can I ask you the abbreviation of the Bluetooth device you purchased for modification and where did you buy it?
Hi, it's a KKmoon TDA7492 Wireless BT 4.0. I bought it on Amazon for around 16 euro
@@woodoogarage9931 thank u so much
I would like to know more about this project. Do you have a parts list of the components you bought to convert this radio? Thanks in advance
Just a quick question, are you utilizing the tube amp? or the solid-state amp? You did an amazing job I absolutely love it.
Hi thanks! I am using only the solid state amp. The original tube amp needs to be repaired
@@woodoogarage9931 and it is mono, too.
Any chance that you can show how you wired the on / off switch as well as how you wired the lamps to the amp. Please !!! Great job
Hi and thanks for your feedback. Sure I can. Just send me a mail to woodoogarage@gmail.com and I'll reply with details on how I wired

Well if it is not working anymore and you got it for 30€ from Ebay, then thats a good option I guess.

The modern JVC speaker are not the best.
Hi, I agree with you. Also the amp is not super performing interms of sound quality but I wanted to stay on a quite low budget for this project

What! Discard or keep the old parts inside and just hook up an amp and bluetooth. That's the whole point. This is not a rebuild video.
Super 💖
Try using LED lights instead.
Очередной колхоз....
Если и делать такие модификации, то с умом и уважением к исходной технике.
now all you have to do is restore the old radio and not ruin antiques
AM and SW way past their glory days. Nothing to ruin.
Hi, and thanks for your vidéo. Can you send me power supply diagram for lamps and electronics, please? I send you my adress by mail
