    Hey man. I'm Todd Magee. I'm the head engineer here at Dead Air and I really apologize our guys haven't returned your messages. I actually heard about your issue from Brian at Occam and will be working with him. I'll also talk to our CS guys and see what the issue is with them. Our CS guys are indeed short staffed, but the only issue we're truly dealing with is getting warranty repairs from the plant, and some are indeed maxing out past our normal quoted time. It's totally justifiable for customers to be mad about that and we're making moves to fix it. Thanks for your patience with us while we're improving things (new building, new QA processes, new vendors, and so on).

      Hey Todd, I am just curious as to if/when there will be any sort of official announcement with maybe SN ranges and a potential recall for the cans within that range? I know that it's probably a wide range/a lot of cans will need to be recalled but at some point it's nerve wracking as someone who has a S5 in jail, will be waiting for another 200+ days to get it and then I need to go run it hoping it doesn't die and potentially cause damage to the rifle it's being used on.

      Todd, do you know why it is taking so long for people to get replacement detent plates for the keymo system? I've been waiting a little over a month to get a new one, but I know guys that said they have been waiting since February to get one.
      I would love to be able to just buy one, but unfortunately they're not sold anywhere

    UPDATE 7/3/23: I have been contacted by Todd at Dead Air. I will offer an update as we progress. I am hopeful that I will be able to report in the near future that I am the asshole for painting Dead Air with such a hyperbolic brush. I'm confident that the right people are on it.

    They make one bad product and everyone wants them to practically go out of business. A lot of good that would do, lol. Every company screws up. I'm pretty sure they'll fix it, but making it right doesn't happen overnight.

      That is one of the bad sides of the internet. With the immediate availability of information and opinions, it seems people are quick to throw stones. They don't realize that this is most likely an issue that affects less than 0.1% of their product line and was most likely a simple issue with tooling that got worn out of spec. People also tend to forget that companies are just groups of people. People have lives and things happen in those lives. Sure, it's not good to have bad communication, but maybe, just maybe the person in charge of handling emails had a death in the family or their servers went down and they lost everything until it was restored.

      I've had a few issues but no problem with CS. I usually make a lot of corrections myself but haven't had to with the Sandmans or Odessa models. Hope it all works out. DA hasn't been a problem for me.

    DA always takes care of the customer. Todd is a stand up guy who stands by his word. Ship it in and it'll get taken care of.

    I'll throw in my case here. It's short.
    Bought my Sandman S June 1, 2022. It was approved October 21, 2023 (using the bullshit eform too).
    It has run fine through my 300 blackout for over 1k rounds of both subsonic and supersonic ammo. If anything, it is too tight on the gun and it can be a struggle to get it off.
    The safe bet is to not buy from them now until they have fixed their qc issues. But following this guy and being overdramatic with his clickbait "IS DEADAIR DEAD?!?!?!" is not the right way to approach it.

    I've said before, all some of these suppressor companies care about is selling cans. You'd better hope you don't have any problems. Surefire is pretty good I guess

    My Sandman S came loose after 4 rounds with a baffle strike on the 5th. Posted a video on it. Sent it in for repair and asked for an update a couple weeks ago. They said they are running 50-60 days on the repair side. 58 days in so far. Hope to see it soon. I think they might have some tolerance issues with their suppliers/contractors. But it’s just a guess.

      I would just suggest you dont put a KeyMo mount on it. I dont have any reason to not trust the DA direct thread stuff.

    Hopefully my Mask HD doesn't have issues, I was willing to do it only because it's a rimfire can, but serious duty use 5.56 SBR stuff I only go with SF. Just wanted to support a Utah company and take the least risk if it breaks. I hope things have gotten better and they've reached out to you and made things right.

      So far so good with mine. I've had it on my MkIV and 2 different 10/22s, no strikes or issues and it's pretty rugged and easy to clean.

    KGM makes Deadair silencers. Dead Air doesn't really manufacture anything that I know of. But i would say both are responsible for whatever is going on with the DA stuff. I'm hoping my Sandmand and mask don't end up with issues. I've got friends with more can's of theirs, we will see.

    Occam is everything you hope a company will be as far as quality and customer service. I had a weld fail and launch with a brand new Sandman S back in early 2020. Getting them to help me was quit infuriating. May be going back to Silencerco simply because of their customer service. Hope you get this resolved.

    I had send my Wolfman back due to baffles not properly aligned. I sent the cab out Monday and got can back on Friday will all new baffles welded on. Dead air paid for all shipping.

    My Sandman-S has been doing this for years and multiple trips back to Dead Air, still not fixed. I have written off the suppressor and dead air all together.

      @@toddmagee6722 This is also happening to me. I'm on my THIRD RMA.. Sandman S keeps backing off. Using the DA-301 on an 11.5 Radian Model 1.

    I sent my Sandman S in December. I had the same issues with the lockup coming loose. 3 weeks went by, radio silent. I got a little nervous sending an NFA item and getting zero correspondence. Long story short, they finally said they received it and was in que to fix. I emailed them at 8 weeks and asked what was going on. They said it was going to cerekote. Week 9 I emailed back and they said it was shipping out the next day. I arrived home that same day and UPS left it at my doorstep. Although the reconstruct is now perfect, They do need to have better communication internally and with their customers.

    Don’t sweat it. They’ll make it right. I’ve had a warranty claim with a rifle company take 6 weeks to get honored. Everyone is really busy with being short handed.

    Also, thousands of people with Sandman series that are extremely happy….think about what you’re doing before blasting people on SM….you have three parts there that could be the problem, the Muzzle Device, or the Suppressor, as well as the barrel

    Well know your feeling…… I have a Sandman S and my detent ring went bad less than a year of having the can…… I reached out a few months ago and been told waiting for them to restock…. They answer my emails but still no detent ring. I was told it was safe to use but I’m a bit hesitant do to the fact if it comes loose I may be more in the hole

    There seems to be alot of complaining about DA's CS. I sent in my sandman s in due to it coming loose and causing a front cap strike last month(shit happens). Ya i technically didnt get a notification from them when they received it other then my tracking saying it was delivered But a quick phone call, and I had confirmation that they received it.

    Can you be more specific about the problem, is the can direct threaded on the rifle, what mount are you using, This is awfully vague.Ive got a dead air wolfman in jail right now(5 weeks since Efile)

    Agreed, they have been sitting on my Wolfman for 3 months plus.... Never fired a shot out of it. Takes 5 or 6 emails to get a simple response! Massively frustrated, especially when I have the number of Dead Air cans that I do!!! I feel your pain, I am on 3rd can now that has had QC issues! NOT HAPPY!!!!!! Going to give new Huxwrx a try, their new Ventum will take all my Key-Mo`s.

      I have an OSS 556K (same company before they changed their name to HUXWRX) and love it. I dont think you will be disapointed at all. The ventum is looking mighty enticing, and it's definitely on my list of cans to get.

    Emailed about a detent ring that was no longer clicking but still holding the suppressor on and asking for advice and they sent me a detent ring almost a year later but still haven’t installed it as the old one has held on even with a 300 win mag.

    Is the muzzle device coming loose or the Qd mount? I’ve had a friend use their warranty amd it was a 2 week turnaround for a baffle strike that was his fault and got fixed for free

      The QD mount is what's coming loose... not the muzzle device.

    Thats insane to hear. Ive always heard such better things about Dead Air QC and customer service. Thats why i went with them on my first can. Updates on how things have gone since? Im looking at this as my next can... hope their back on their stride.

    At least Dead Air addressed it on here and hopefully got you sorted out. I have a can from TPM that I have a Video on here about that I have had in my possession for a good bit now with no luck on a call back or email. I made a video of the issue and they commented on the video yet still didn't help me out with the issue. After they were called out on it they deleted the comment.

    I bought the keymo hybrid from blackout defense just to put the sierra 5 on my ar and then i see all this bs people are going thru including the actual sierra 5 from da exploding on people ! I hope they fix your issue.

    I just received my first cans not long ago, dead air K and S. I noticed them coming loose after a few rounds too. Not sure if I’m just not tightening them enough or if there’s an issue, but this is disappointing to hear if I do have to send anything back.

    Well I have been thinking about buying a Surfire warden and sending it off for the conversion so I can use it on my sand man k but after reading all this about detents and loose cans I think I’ll
    Convert the sand man k to a SF mount the muzzle devices look better too

    Was the muzzle device or the or can backing off? This is pretty vague

      The can is loosening off of the muzzle device after a couple dozen shots. The muzzle device is super secure on to the barrel... as I beleive it's a heat fit process done by Occam, not just a standard thread on muzzle device.

      So the can is coming loose from the keymo adapter or ? I put my wolfman on and shot one round thru it and the van wanted to unthread from the Keymicro adapter.

    I am dealing with something similar. I sent in my holster with Standard Co holster and it’s going on 3 months for a supposedly “lifetime” warranty. No response or anything. Now I’m out money on a holster and no product in hand. Hope they get you taken care of soon.

    My DA Keymo omega adapter lost the ratchet within 4 range sessions and now no longer has any ratcheting sound and loose. Called DA onlt to he told its "normal". After 4 range visits??? Deadair sucks!!

    Yes I have a dead air ti nomad fired 3 shots cracked sent it in for repair in may still haven’t got it back supposed to get it back in three weeks ya probably won’t be buying anything from them at all

      We're now VERY involved in the manufacturing of our cans and nothing goes to a customer unless it's passed through our hands.

    These comments are not helping their case at all. I have a sandman S and a Sierra 5 awaiting atf approval. I’m at 200 days. This fuckin sucks to have to worry if these will hold up. I should’ve went with surefire 30 Cala this time. No wonder Dead Air has a lifetime warranty they know their products are faulty.

      @@FreedomFundsTV When I first contacted them, the customer service team offered that as the "solution"... but it seemed like more of a kneejerk response. However, I have heard back from the engineering team and it looks like the issue is with parts of the locking mechanism on the can. However, I have not yet received a final word. They are rebuilding my can... because baffle strikes were incurred durring testing.
      All signs are pointing to their desire and dedication to figuring out the problem. So stay tunned.
