Did this rear diff work in the long run? I am in the process of replacing my plastic gears with metal right now. I had the entire rear end out, and when I put all back togther the gears were very tight and wont spin by hand. Every video I have watched, nobody even checks how the gears mesh.
I can't help buy wonder if stuffing the diff. with clay instead of epoxy wouldn't give you a very strong limited slip diff.? Also, I couldn't help buy notice that when you turned the axle that it had run out big time that will cause binding. Should maybe have had a closer look at that before assembly. Also,, No grease on the back half of the axle housing before joining the halves? You've effectively only waterproofed the front half of the housing.
I'm having trouble understanding why you would swap to metal gears just to lock it all with epoxy? You could have locked up the plastic just as easy since the point is just to have a solid axle... If you had already bought the metal gears before deciding to use glue, I would have tried a really heavy diff lube first then if that wasn't enough say screw it and throw the glue in. Maybe I missed something ?
You can glue the plastic gear but the problem is the gear strips out at the joint between the metal drive shaft coupling that is why I originally pulled the diff apart gluing the plastic gears would only cause the coupling to strip the gear quicker And these gear don't seem to hold much liquid
Why to lock the diff? The only good thing is you will have propulsion on both weels at same time, but It will be bad for all transmision, it will be hard to turn around the car etc...
An easier way and less destructive ways to use like wax ear plugs that you get at the drugstore and stuff those in there instead of epoxy glue that you'll never be able to get out
Mine are metal gears as well and I wouldn't use glue if you have metal gearing I used soderr in mine and it's a huge difference cus I've had to reglue the diff twice otherwise so metal gears use small gauge wire but if plastic glue is ok for sure
Why you swapped to metal gears if ending up by putting glue in it ? I guess you could just freeze everything witout changing all the gears? Im new to this hobby still waiting to receive my 12428 but after Watching a ton of videos im new worried on breaking something very fast haha
The reason for swapping in metal gears is because all the plastic gears will strip even if you glue the plastic gears it would still strip out the plastic just isn’t strong enough to hold the pressure
@@harro2395 hi I agree too I just ordered all my bit for my wltoys 12428 racerstar brushless motor 3650 brushless esc 60amp and I'm going to upgrade all my parts one by one and I'm getting metal gears front and back and the middle motor gear 62t will be metal as well. So in a few months I get back to you when I finish it. Ps the the gearbox looks a problem very fiddly I think I will buy the hole part I think it be easy thanks mr mog
Nice video my friend! Today I block diff to my wltoys! I did it with hot silicone! I'll try it on the weekend! New subscriber to your channel! Regards! LIKE
Great vid man. SUBBED! Just got the green one yesterday from a guy who won it at a work event, and used it once, which it def looks brandnew. Although the gears seem kind of loud. Not sure, but may need new gears. Might as well upgrade while I'm in there. He probably was ripping it from reverse to forward full throttle poppin wheelies, I'm not sure, but it works fine for the time being just not real quiet. Got lucky and Got the bad boy for $20 US ...needs a new battery though. Any recommendations for a battery and charger? I need a charger that will work for all kinds nihm lipo li-ion. Update: I just watched your bash video, and when you were testing it, it actually sounds just like mine, so I assume it's normal. I'm still going to upgrade the gears at some point though.
I've never had any intention on doing speed runs with it so I'm not sure to be honest I have however noticed it seems to snap front drive shafts more often probably due to the power of the 540 motor and locked diffs
really precious info with the glue and heating the screw, thanks!
Differential I lock with kitchen roll or Toilet paper snippets😉 It's cheap, it's not sticky and it works and It is also removable
If it works it works lol

i liked this. you seem to be an actual human showing how real world stuff happens
Hope you enjoyed this is a little longer then my usual videos
i own a 10428. do this gears fit to mine, or the differential is different?
Thanks dude just ordered one and needed to see it done 👏👏👏

I just took mine apart to lock it and it came with metal

tq, i need this, but still got problem with the gear, can't open it. very tight. how to solve?
An easier way and less destructive ways to use like wax ear plugs that you get at the drugstore and stuff those in there instead of epoxy glue that you'll never be able to get out
I've tried the ear things before depending how much power you run they tent to get chewed up

I've never had to re glue mine I've snapped lots of drive shafts after gluing it tho lol
Nice one really helped 😊
What parts here used very urgent because I also broke
I got mine off eBay they are just wltoys 12428 diff gears

Does it work better with the locked diffs
For crawling definitely
@@harro2395 you should make a video crawling with it after your mod.
@@harro2395 is it harder to do speed runs? Can you keep it straight
Here's a link to me crawling it after mods ua-cam.com/video/ZzSxB6UxRlA/v-deo.html

Hi I'm a total noob what the purpose of locking the gears in place with the resin?
It's got differential gears. Locking them will give u actual fourwd instead of like a slipper clutch sort of system( I think )
The link is just for the car. What is the part number of the kit?????????????????
The metal gear set ? I'll grab it for you once I finish work 😁
What grease do you use for the bearings.
I use marine grease
Does this have the the same chassis as the 12429
Im not sure sorry
I heard same. Share parts.
Is the stock diff eith plastic is strong?.
I don't believe so you'll need to do a metal gear conversion first they strip very easily the plastic gears
Sir what is the name of the tool u use looks like letter L?...
What's the time stamp on the letter L tool and I'll tell you lol this is an old video I can't remember
What is the size of allen hex u use to loose the rear gear..
Mine came with metal gears. It’s a retail package I bought in store. I almost ordered metal gears lol.
WHAT İS MUSİC NAME
I DO NOT KNOW
Well this wasnt helpful....i cant count!
@@RonBernardino oh dang that's unfortunate

Love you too bae
but 12429 is all gears metal
