    I did this for ten years, 9 hours a day 6 days a week. I'm unbelievably fast and precise at this. When I started those guns had push button settings one through four. And the box was grey and the cord for the pistol grip was a lot skinnier. Then they came out with another gray one with the knob like that one and they were only 250 Watts but they still put out plenty of heat. Unless you looked for the absence of wear bars you would not be able to identify that mine had been grooved. Also if you had a nail and ding the blade a little bit you can take a small precision file and touch it up and get a little more use out of the blade. There's a limit to what you can do with the file but it will make it feel perfect again for a while if you didn't ding it up too bad.
    Also you need to set something up to hold the tire properly. If you cantilever something off the side of a bench like a big board or a pipe and place the tire over it so it's kind of hanging there it makes it a lot easier.
    I even made an arm on a hinge that swings down and helps hold it into place which you can raise and lower really quick. When you have the tire suspended a few inches off the ground it makes it easy to keep rotating it and make fast progress. Just setting the tire on the ground like that is very inefficient. It would even be better than nothing if you said it inside of a light truck tire that's just laying on the ground that will help hold it into place better.

    my old man has an old groover that was sitting in the old stable for probably years. . .
    So i tried it on some groovables. and it started working right away.
    But then button 3 stopped heating, then 2, 1, & 4.
    It could be user error. but i'm wondering what inside may have went, and if it could be replaced.

    Awesome to see another vid, good video on regrovable ties, at work we sell our casings and just get recaps done when we need them, but my father owns two log truck trailers and wondering if buying a regrover would be worth managing 16 tires. Note that he don't sell casings or wants them recapped.

    Great info! Im grooving forklift tires and the issue im running into is, my blades are bending or deforming after 3 or 4 passes. Im guessing it has to do with temperature vs pressure required to make clean cuts. How do you determine the temperature for being effective and not ruining blades. Also, are there different quality or hardness in blades according to what type of tire you're grooving?

  • @MrRandom750

    Is this worth doing for a small fleet? Mostly 4 and 550 4x4s and how do you figure the best depth to go ?

    • @TripleATireService
      @TripleATireService  5 років тому +5

      Most definitely. Assuming that they have 225/245 or 26570R19.5. I also forgot to mention not to do steer tires. Depending on how worn the tire is determines how deep you can go. If you have an old junk tire it would be good to practice on. Since I forgot to add a part to this video I will add a little more detail on the next including doing a 19.5.

  • @coach2208

    Does a tire have to say regroovable , to regroove it, or can any tire be regroove.

    • @808gunz9
      @808gunz9 9 місяців тому

      Any tire can be regrooved but doesn't mean you should because of the design, Medium duty and bigger can be safely regrooved because they're designed that way for longevity, whereas a passenger car and light truck tire isn't designed for heavy weight over long distance it's not designed the same way, but competition wise it's fine

    8:26 you are saying "you can whatever you want" which is not right.
    You ought to regroove tires according to the instruction given by the manufacturer.
    This can be found in the tires catalogues.
    If you do whatever you want you can damage the tire and it will never be able to carry as much load as designed, not to mention the safety.

    • @TripleATireService
      @TripleATireService  5 років тому +1

      Your absolutely correct about following the manufacture’s guidelines. As for my comment it was to be taken as for the design of the regooved line your cutting. A strait line versus a small wavy line will not effect the tire as long as you are following the original tread pattern. If you regroove more lines than what the original tread pattern is than yes that can be a potential issue.
