- This is the story of our 7 day adventure through the Peruvian wilderness. On the legendary Choquequirao Trek, all the way to the Inca ruin Machu Picchu. The hike was not for the faint-hearted, but you were rewarded with great views and an experience not to be forgotten. I can absolutely recommend.
Day 1: Cachora (with bus from Cusco about 6-7 hrs, then again a bus at the junction 1 hr.) - Santa Rosa Baja
Day 2: Santa Rosa - Choquequirao - Pinchaunuyoc
Day 3: Pinchaunuyoc - Maizal - Yanama
Day 4: Yanama - Collpapampa
Day 5: Collpapampa - Llactapata Lodge
Day 6: Llactapata - Hidroelectrica - Aguas Calientes
Day 7: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Hidroelectrica (from there with Bus direct to Cusco about 8-10 hrs)
00:00 Intro
01:50 Cusco & the sacred valley
03:14 Day 1: Cachora to Santa Rosa
05:34 Day 2: Choquequirao
09:18 Day 3: Maizal & Yanama
12 51 Day 4: to Collpapampa
14:44 Day 5: to Llactapata Lodge
17:36 Day 6: to Aguas Calientes
18:38 Day 7: Machu Picchu
Sleeping & Food:
There are small family houses with a garden where you can put up your tent and they can cook for you till Marampata. And from Yanama all the way to Llactapata.
From Marampata to Yanama the only possibity is in Maizal, but there's often nobody there. Important to bring food, because there's nothing on the way. You are here really off the civilization.
From Yanama there's once a day a small bus which takes the locals to Santa Teresa (from there you can catch a bus to Hidroelectrica) if you're legs give up.
A really good website with lot's of good information:

Hi. Great adventure. I want to make this Trek. Would know How long was the hiking betwen yanama and collpapampa. Thank you. Sorry my english
Hi, it depends. We had around 10 hours to get there
Hi patripo, did you use a map or is it not possible to get lost along the trail? When did you go and how cold was it at night?
Loved your video!!
Hey ette 😆 I just used the app maps me. Together with a gps it's quite easy to follow the trail as there are not many there. To get to Choquequirao it's very easy. After that to get to Yanama it's bit uneasier because it's bit more overgrown. But there's only one path. Just use maps me.
Weather was quite warm at night. Between 5 to 10 degrees maybe in July/August. On the passes it can get easily below 0.
Enjoy the trek!
Great video! I have a question: are there opportunities to charge your devices in the villages along the way?
No, maybe if you have luck you could find a spot to charg them. But normally tey don't have electricity. I would take a powerbank with you
@@patripo wow, good to know! I better get a spare drone battery then :) thanks!
@@fabianotravels enjoy your trip then!
@2:20 is that the Kokopelli hostel lobby?
