I've never seen a coffin shaped journal before, that is great. Love the decorator touches. YOu could use these to store art supplies, pens, brushes, pencils, stickers, etc. I've had a lot of losses in the past 10 years, I could see making a coffin for each loved one who has passed. With photos, locks of hair, baby teeth, scraps of fabric from clothes they wore, that kind of thing. Maybe that's too morbid, but it seems I could fill a small cemetery right now and some were cremated so there isn't a physical place I can go visit. Making my own cemetery has a certain comforting feel to it, the idea. Just a different shaped memory box. Even for pets.
Pretty sad when you know more dead people than living people.

Years ago I altered several of these boxes by using modeling paste, bits and pieces from a $ store mini-skeleton, plastic spiders, etc. dyed cheesecloth and Rub'nBuff. The interior was painted then filled with a ton of treats for some special kids. The ones I used were not as large as the one are using so I was amazed at how many goodies I was able to stuff inside them.
Your tufted coffin liner using the packaging material is a wonderful idea and turned out great! I have filed away your idea to use this for a journal for when my special kids get a bit older. Thanks for sharing!

You could make a cute spooky purse with another one of your boxes, add a rough rope handle and stain it to bring out the wood grain. Maybe use it to store medicine in case you start "coffin"! Or vampire slayer gear! I loved the book!

For the boxes, you could create a Halloween zombie scene in a graveyard where the zombies are breaking out their coffins, or a vampire lair scene where when you open the coffin, the vampire sits up. If you cut some of the bits out of the box, you could replace it with plastic and create a Snow White in a glass coffin scene?

Brilliant! I love it! And I really liked seeing your bookbinding technique on such an unusual shape!
The coffin video you made last actually inspired me to make my own for this Halloween! I used your tufting method, although mine is a lot more clumsy and chunky. And I made mine with horizontal shelves in the lid with a collection of items the tiny vampire might keep in her travelling coffin.
You're a great inspiration. I admire your work and creativity so much. And the attention to detail.

You are so talented, my dear! I love the way you made the journal, and that fabric you used was perfect! The padded inserts for the lid and box of the coffin were lovely! I would love to know where you found that size of wooden coffin! There are coffin boxes at Michael's, but they are only 4 inches tall, and not very big. I'm building a coffin for a doll that I have, and he is 7 inches tall. The lid is very difficult to make, as I'm trying to copy a coffin that was used on Dark Shadows, TV series from the 1960s. ~Janet in Canada
