I wish I found LBD when it was active. I found them less than a week ago, and have watched/obsessed over the entire thing twice. Thank you so much for all the work you put in, from social media accounts and so many other things. It was an incredible experience for me, and for everyone who has found them
I also wish I found them when it was active. But I would probably be too young to properly appreciate the experience, so in the end, I'm glad I found them when I found them. I just wanna experience following every fictional character on twt and seeing them tweet lol
I always thought it was kinda sad that Hank never received an Emmy for himself for LBD. I mean, he was one of the two actual CREATORS of the show. And I'm not saying that Bernie and the others didn't deserve their Emmy's, because of course they did, but it just makes me sad that Hank didn't get recognition by the Emmy's for something as great of his, that is LBD.
Didn't he? He's an executive producer. But maybe because it was only a Creative Arts Emmy? For a fringe category? But I think that means he still has one
The Lizzie Bennet diaries were the most worth wile thing I ever watched on the Internet. Seeing the dedication from the actors, the crew, the fans and you, I understand why you are sad. I'm a little sad that I can never watch it again for the first time, not knowing what's going to happen, but u can share it with other people, and that's just as good :) stay awesome Hank.
So... I just watched ALL of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and Lydia's videos, and Charlotte's, AND Gigi's in about 3 days. I LOVE it soooo much. I think it was just a brilliant adaptation, and I REALLY like how much depth Lydia was given. And that she DIDN'T MARRY WICKHAM. That's probably the biggest thing that I'm happy was different. No more Wickham. Thank the lord.
I totally understand in the aspect of an audience member, it was such a cool experience. Guessing whose gonna be Darcy, that wait between episodes. It was the one thing I looked forward to between classes in the library, the law and medical books section with encyclopedias and journals that have been there for at least half a century. So when I think of that old dusty library I think of LBD. But what hit me was was how immersive this show was with the social media. I mean its like we were in their world and it was such a cool experience as an audience member. They felt like real people to us and we were all compelled by it. Another experience that was similar was when I watched The Guild. Well done.
Hah...yes. But I have realized that all people who complain about their taxes being more complicated than most people have a great deal to be thankful for, so I deal.
One of the strangest things for me was watching the Lydia videos when her relationship with Wickham was in the middle of turning toxic and seeing younger youtube commenters who hadn't read the book talk about how amazing and sweet and sensitive Wickham was being. "Awww, he'd beat up someone for her. He's so cute!" "He loves her so much!" It says a lot about how we perceive ideal romance in our culture (especially how it's presented to young people) and how that ties into spousal abuse.
I think I tried my hardest to get people into the series before it was over exactly for the reason you said, Hank ... because it was so cool to be immersed in it while it was happening, especially the new year going forward. There was something particularly stunning about the storytelling once we got to Lizzie slowly falling for Darcy one day and Lydia slowly losing herself in Wickham the next.
It was a wonderful thing you made! Mondays and Thursdays had me impatiently clicking refresh to see the new episode! Can't wait to see what Pemberly Digital conjures up next!
I really enjoyed LBD!!! given recent circumstances, I found myself in the rabbit hole of my obsession with the P&P story line... and stumbled upon the wonderful world of LBD!!! I cann't thank you enough and the cast and crew for pushing on and not taking down the content... which exists until now :D If I may be so bold, I hope you guys can explore other series such as Anne of Green Gables, Romeo and Juliet, etc. Keep up the great work! I hope you and your family are safe in these trying times :)
The great thing about the Lizzie Bennet Diaries was truly that you felt like it was something real and something happening in real time to real people and you felt like you were a part of it. When you watch a movie straight through it isn't quite the same and you don't connect to the characters in the same way. I will always love the Colin Firth adaptation, but it will never fill me with the same kind of joy I had watching Lizzie Bennet. Thank you for this beautiful thing.
I was just pondering on the whole "you only experience for the first time once" think the other day. I was re-reading, and quire enjoying, Persuasion. I'm definitely a re-reader, and sometimes I like knowing what to look forward to, but sometimes I wish I could read something again with the anticipation of the first time. I was too late for LBD, but I'm catching up now with EA, some hopefully I'll get to enjoy some of the "first time" experience with it :)
When LBD was first released I was teaching first year composition courses and would watch episodes in-between grading papers, texting fellow adjuncts who were as tied to P&P as I am. This moment will always be a favorite of mine - there was such joy in witnessing that "first run." However, I enjoy a rewatch pretty much as well as the first and just finished a rewatch last week. Love love love
LBD was my gateway to Nerdfighteria, I had no idea what vlogbrothers was before I watched Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and I'm really glad that I not only got to watch something as cool as that, but also discover Nerdfigheria in the process.
I definitely agree with you Hank. I had that same experience when LOST was going on. When people watch it now they miss out on the creative community that surrounded it. I felt honored to be a part of the LBD beginnings. I am excited for the future. :)
The tone of this video and a lot of these comments reminds me of the week after sleep away camp. There is this awesome thing just happened and everybody is in on it, but no matter how many times you look at pictures or watch the videos, its never going to be the same as when it was actually going on. Congratulations Hank, what an accomplishment!
the LBD is truly a once in a lifetime experience, but will be enjoyed many more times. Everything was just captured so well in teal time. Amazing creation and adaptation! Well done to EVERYONE involved.
I honestly really miss LBD now. I feel the same way I feel when I finish a particularly enthralling book. I feel fulfilled and satisfied but sad and empty at the same time. That's how I know it was good.
There are so many times I wish I could go back and experience something again for the first time, with that same wonder and excitement! The LBD was a fantastic project and I'm so glad I was able to see it from start to finish and I can't wait to see what you cook up in the future!
I've been loving this channel lately. He posts so often and his thoughts are always interesting. He could read a cookbook and still make it interesting.
There was something special about watching LBD as it played out in real time that was both strange and amazing. I looked forward to each new tweet, post, and particularly the videos like the characters were real people whose lives I was peering into. Thank the entire LBD team for making such a strong emotional connection with the audience. The experience was a gift, and watching my DVD copy will be a bit like watching video from my wedding...a story I love and remember fondly.
I wish I had as much confidence in my work as Hank does. If I approached my school, my sport, my social life, ANYTHING in the apparently fearless and confident way Hank does, I have a feeling I'd find more success and happiness in life.
I loved TBD, I procrastinated to watch it for the longest time and then the day before the 100th episode came out, I started watching from episode 1. I was obsessed with it immediately and finished it the next day. Loved it.
I started watching TLBD 6 days before it finished. Great timing I know. I started watching after this girl I recently followed on tumblr reblogged loads of stuff about it. So I typed it into youtube and gave it a go. I love it. I watched all 98 episodes that had been uploaded in less than a day. I knew nothing about the plotline before watching them and I am now almost finished reading Pride and Prejudice and watching the 1995 adaptation. I am very excited for Sandtion!!
I have a friend who watched LBD having never encountered P&P before. Part of what I looked forward to with LBD was seeing how what I knew was going to happen next would be interpreted. I am constantly surprised by how many people haven't read or had any contact with things that I thought were just an essential part of british culture (I'm english) and it kind of makes me sad how these things are sort of being forgotten. So I'm really thankful to people like hank for brining them back.
Following the Lizzie Bennet diaries was like watching performance art. It was the best when it was happening and you can never get that feeling back. But I think that also makes the feelings about it so much stronger :)
One of my favorite things about LBD was looking out for all of the real-time extras on twitter etc and then frantically getting in touch with other people I knew who watched LBD to talk about the implications of these things. It made it so I got to have really interesting conversations with some people I am not super close with but who are really cool and thoughtful, so that was a thing I liked a lot. I miss it now.
I only discovered the Lizzie Bennet Diaries after the last one had been uploaded and I think I had a very different experience because I could sit there are watch them for hours at a time (which I did despite having exams because they were so fantastic and faithful to P&P!) and I feel a bit sad I couldn't watch them as they came, but it's like someone discovering Harry Potter books from the beginning - it'll be different, but just as amazing for them. :D :D Thank you Pemberly Digital! :D
Never seen the LBD until tonight! OMGoodness AWESOMENESS!!!! I'm up to episode 31. I love Jane Austin!! Greatness going to watch slower or it will be over too soon!!! Ingenious! Xxx
I feel about LBD the way I feel about Assassin's Creed 2 - it was beautiful and I cried so many times and even though I can rewatch/replay both over and over, it still will never compare to the feeling of experiencing it for the first time.
I thought that made those videos all the more important. It was horrifying to watch, knowing what was actually happening, yet not wanting to believe it, but I think it was a brilliant way of drawing awareness to how domestic abuse is not necessarily always physically violent. That it is psychological as well. In many ways, though it was difficult to watch them they were my favourite part of the LBD story because of the powerful message they had behind them, conscious or not.
LBD was so wonderful, and intriguing, and lovely. :) I cannot wait until I get my DVD set so I can go through it all marathon style! :D It was a great experience to watch those from the beginning. :) Thanks, Hank!!
I know that I feel extremely lucky to have been able to follow Lizzie Bennet since the beginning. It's not going to be the same, but I think that's okay. It was still a great experience, and it will remain a great experience for everyone who finds it from now on. A different experience, yes, but a great one all the same. :)
Pemberley Digital needs to be on linkedin so I can connect to the company ~~professionally~~. Or something. Wonderful vid, and echos a lot of the things I've been kicking around since the last video aired.
I thought the real-time aspect of LBD was one of the best and most unique things this adaptation of Pride and Prejudice could do. You can watch the movie in two hours or the miniseries in 5 or read the book in a few days, but only the LBD video blogs out of any adaptation I've seen could recreate a real sense of the book's timeline, and part of what came with that was all the anticipation and creativity and it was awesome.
When I was a kid, I did get to see the original Star Wars series in the cinema. My brother and I always laugh at the fact my mom fell asleep during the movie.
Well, LBD was created largely due to Hank's ideas and initiative. It was something he cared deeply about, and even though he wasn't vital to the process of creating it day-to-day (which he admits), he was still important. Ashley and MK and Bernie and DVG have their own outlets for talking about the show, where they focus on themselves as well, and rightly so! They talk about THEIR experience regarding the series. Hank has the right to talk about his feelings about it no matter how central he was
Hank isn't being self-centered, he is talking about his experiance and his view point of things. Thats what vlogging is about, sharing your beliefs and experiances with other people.
Well, I understand you feel this way, coming from LBD, but this was something he and The Catherine spent a lot of time thinking and trying to make it happen, and it is, in fact, hank's iniciative, so I'm very proud to be here since the begenning, when he told us he was tryng to make this amazing thing happen... And I believe he's also proud of himself for doing it, and he should be, so... if we're all grateful the show is real and is ours, we should at least be a little grateful Hank did it.
Hank, I understand your nostalgia for the time when a thing was being created, and how once it's finished the feeling will be different, but remember that the fans aren't abandoning LBD just because it reached its expected end! I mean, the last Harry Potter movie came out almost two years ago and the fandom is as strong as ever. You helped create an amazing thing and people will continue to enjoy it.
Hank Green. What you have done is gathered a community of intelligent, hardworking, thoughtful, and artistic people. You called them Nerdfighters. In a way, they have become your own little army. Whatever it is you choose to do, they'll support you in it. Assuming that what you're creating is something that interests them. We do have some standards, after all. Now, whenever you create something, there'll be more people creating around it. There's no way to avoid that. So keep going, please.
My mum always loved Pride and Prejudice but I was never that interested in it- until the Lizzie Bennett Diaries. As the episodes progressed and their was lots of discussion about plot and character development and I wanted to know what it was all about! So I read the book and I could suddenly join in discussion and have a known perspective on the matter. Also from reading Pride and Prejudice I got to lots more classics - so LBD also improved my literary skills!
Ever since I first started watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, I've wanted to do something like that. I have the start to it down. It's about two people who are randomly selected to make videos for this project. They don't know each other in real life, yet through the videos, they're able to get to know each other. It's kinda like the youtube version of Dash and Lily's Book of Dares. I just don't have the money to go through with it.
It's a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice told through fictional vlogs - so it's basically a webseries :) You should definitely watch it! (Even if you haven't read P&P, I haven't and I still absolutely adored the show!)
the world is indeed weird....but so much more awesome for it! I am also sad that it has ended, but i can't wait for the DVD and for what is to come next - seahorses 4 ever
there is still a lot of fanfictions in the works which is cool but I was so glad I got to really enjoy and experience this fandom in real time while LBD was on :D
I really really loved the Telltale walking dead games. Because it was such an experience and a story and with every event that happened it was so intense and real. And I'm really sad that I can't experience it for the first time again. I can play it again sure, but it's just not the same.
Finality is weird. 'Cause the Lizzie Bennet dairies are over for us and the the people who've finished them, but there are a bunch of people who're watching them now and are going to watch them and are rewatching them...and the story's just renewed for them and is still going on. I think that's why I love the LBD so much. The forever quality this totally new story that's 200 years old.
I'm sad you feel this way :( Don't forget, Hank mostly didn't interact face-to-face with the crew and cast. I don't know if he was ever there during shooting, and he hadn't met most of the cast before the wrap party a couple weeks ago. So his experience of LBD was mostly isolated from everyone in LA.
I wish I found LBD when it was active. I found them less than a week ago, and have watched/obsessed over the entire thing twice. Thank you so much for all the work you put in, from social media accounts and so many other things. It was an incredible experience for me, and for everyone who has found them

Having just watched a playlist of all the videos, I'm sorry I didn't experience LBD live as it were. I am glad I watched it all though
Hah...yes. But I have realized that all people who complain about their taxes being more complicated than most people have a great deal to be thankful for, so I deal.

Hank have you seen the expansion of the genre of literary-inspired webseries on UA-cam, Twitter, and Tumblr?
There have been over a dozen new webseries and a LIW Awards this year and an explosion of fanbase for creators all over the world...
Its so true. Rewatching it now is just not the same. I am glad I found out about the series when it had just started.
"Creations create around creations.." Because stories and objects do not belong to their creator, but to the consumer of the creation, as John says.
Does Pemberly Digital accept interns? The non-fictional character kind?
It was a wonderful thing you made! Mondays and Thursdays had me impatiently clicking refresh to see the new episode!
Can't wait to see what Pemberly Digital conjures up next!
I really enjoyed LBD!!! given recent circumstances, I found myself in the rabbit hole of my obsession with the P&P story line... and stumbled upon the wonderful world of LBD!!! I am so glad I discovered you and John. It led me to the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. You are amazing Hank and I look up to you! :)
I am very, very glad you chose LBD. It was honestly such an amazing series. I'm so happy it exists and I got to watch it in real time.
I miss The Lizzie Bennet Diaries....I used to come home from class on Mondays and Thursdays and the new episode was up! I loved it!
I definitely agree with you Hank. I had that same experience when LOST was going on. When people watch it now they miss out on the creative community that surrounded it. I felt honored to be a part of the LBD beginnings. I am excited for the future. :)

Every Monday and Thursday I would come home from work for lunch, and enjoy the new episdoe of LBD. I'm so sad that there are no more!
There are so many times I wish I could go back and experience something again for the first time, with that same wonder and excitement!
The LBD was a fantastic project and I'm so glad I was able to see it from start to finish and I can't wait to see what you cook up in the future!
I found the Lizzie Bennet diaries just after it finished and it took me three days to watch. :) thanks Hank for helping to bring that to life.
I've been loving this channel lately. He posts so often and his thoughts are always interesting. He could read a cookbook and still make it interesting.

The colour coded side of the bookcase is the Katherine's side of the shelf! He did a bookshelf tour recently :)
I wish I had as much confidence in my work as Hank does. If I approached my school, my sport, my social life, ANYTHING in the apparently fearless and confident way Hank does, I have a feeling I'd find more success and happiness in life.
I thoroughly loved the tone of this video. Not quite sure why, but I really liked it.
I loved TBD, I procrastinated to watch it for the longest time and then the day before the 100th episode came out, I started watching from episode 1. I was obsessed with it immediately and finished it the next day. Loved it.
Consuming the series as it happened really was an amazing experience.
I just can't get over the fact that you made Pemberley Digital a REAL COMPANY! It's just too awesome!
I started watching TLBD 6 days before it finished. Great timing I know. I started watching after this girl I recently followed on tumblr reblogged loads of stuff about it. Thank you for comforting words :)
I have a friend who watched LBD having never encountered P&P before. Part of what I looked forward to with LBD was seeing how what I knew was going to happen next would be interpreted. hank we love you
don't ever die
you are legend
you are immortal
I only discovered the Lizzie Bennet Diaries after the last one had been uploaded and I think I had a very different experience because I could sit there are watch them for hours at a time (which I did despite having exams because they were so fantastic and faithful to P&P!) and I feel a bit sad I couldn't watch them as they came, but it's like someone discovering Harry Potter books from the beginning - it'll be different, but just as amazing for them. :D :D Thank you Pemberly Digital! :D
wow i love this little commentary Hank, I never really heard much on you thoughts about it, really enjoy you and what you've done with LBD :)
Thank you Hank for creating LBD. I have really enjoyed watching it, and I have now fallen in love with P&P. So... Thanks!!
Never seen the LBD until tonight! OMGoodness AWESOMENESS!!!! I'm up to episode 31. I love Jane Austin!! Greatness going to watch slower or it will be over too soon!!! Ingenious! Xxx
Hank, you make and are a part of the best internet.
I loved the Puppy sized elephant and when Maggy got crushed by Johns book Lookin For Alaska
I feel about LBD the way I feel about Assassin's Creed 2 - it was beautiful and I cried so many times and even though I can rewatch/replay both over and over, it still will never compare to the feeling of experiencing it for the first time.
We're proud of you too Hank!
I miss LBD. It was great to go on that journey with everyone. It was great.
Please do a modern adaptation of the great gatsby
I am so happy it happened. The Lizzie Bennet will always be a nice memory.
LBD was so wonderful, and intriguing, and lovely. :) I cannot wait until I get my DVD set so I can go through it all marathon style! :D It was a great experience to watch those from the beginning. :) Thanks, Hank!!

I really respect your way of looking at things. I wish more people would think like that :)
I am already saving up the money to get the DVD set! I can't wait to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff!!
Pemberley Digital needs to be on linkedin so I can connect to the company ~~professionally~~. Or something.
Wonderful vid, and echos a lot of the things I've been kicking around since the last video aired.
That's great to know! I suffered quite a bit of withdrawal when I finished the series (I watched all the episodes in a weekend!)
You are having a wonderful time. That's real cool, Hank. :)
I started watching Hank's hands swing back and forth, and I just couldn't stop....
I've only just heard of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I plan to check it out when I get home from college later, looking forward to it. :D
When I was a kid, I did get to see the original Star Wars series in the cinema. My brother and I always laugh at the fact my mom fell asleep during the movie.
Hank is BACK!!!!!! YEAH!!!!! :) i miss you :)

thank you! infinite hugs
That's the Katherine's side of the bookshelf. Hank's side is organized by genre. One of his earlier VEDA videos showcases that.
You helped create an amazing thing and people will continue to enjoy it.
its very simple hank, in order to have all those wonderous feels again;
NEW PROJECT
I like the idea of being able to say "This thing that a bunch of people I have never met care about could not have happened without me."
Lbd for life! Still getting over it by watching it again. Dftba!
yup. just after LBD ended, Hank and Bernie started up their own sorta production company and named it Pemberly Digital. it's epic.
LBD was a very high quality show. You can do it again with a different book! I can't wait!
That last bit was the only thing that made me cry. Everything was perfect grammar & spelling wise.
I'm so happy I hopped on the LBD train from the beginning, it was such a cool experience!
Hank is giving his perspective on the LBD and the reasonable expectation is that he would talk about his involvement and his thoughts on the process.
I always liked Hank; but now I know that he was behind one of my other favourite programmes!
I am also kinda sad as well Hank, it was amazing watching it as it occurred :D
Ever since I first started watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, I've wanted to do something like that. I have the start to it down. It's about two people who are randomly selected to make videos for this project. They don't know each other in real life, yet through the videos, they're able to get to know each other. It's kinda like the youtube version of Dash and Lily's Book of Dares. I just don't have the money to go through with it.
It's a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice told through fictional vlogs - so it's basically a webseries :) You should definitely watch it! (Even if you haven't read P&P, I haven't and I still absolutely adored the show!)
hank please never mention the fact that you might die i'm crying
Could not stop staring at the color co ordinated books :)
the world is indeed weird....but so much more awesome for it! I am also sad that it has ended, but i can't wait for the DVD and for what is to come next - seahorses 4 ever
Hello Hank!
Love your videos!
Keep going and DFTBA!
there is still a lot of fanfictions in the works which is cool but I was so glad I got to really enjoy and experience this fandom in real time while LBD was on :D
Pride and Prejudice, retold in video blog form. You're in for a treat.
Yay you are talking about it!
