Background checks limit your choices. If I just want a gun in US , it is so easy, but not if I want a Wilson Combat custom gun, or similar. I am for a waiting period, which I define as from when the trigger been pulled , till the bullet leave the barrel. I am impatient.

I not a smart man but when I read the 2nd amendment, I always see this little phrase at the end that states, "shall not be infringed." The waiting period is an infringement in my mind and belief.

Last week a judge let out 3 juvenile criminals in WA who had full-auto weapons without any charges. WA state only cares about legal guns not those used by criminals.
The 10 day waiting period in Cali is considered a "cooling off" period. Well, if I already own a bunch of firearms wouldn't the "cooling off" period be useless? I could just grab something I already own. Only the first time buyer is truly thwarted should their intent be to harm.

I worked in a large maximum security state prison where the perpetrators of gun violence were incarcerated. I had inmates tell me their guns were not confiscated until they were arrested commiting a armed crime. These inmates told me they would never surrender their guns no matter what laws were passed prohibiting the possession of firearms. These guys thought the outlawing of guns was amusing. Wake up, folks.

The courts have historically interpreted first amendment protections to extend beyond the plain text of the amendment. It stands to reason the rest of the bill of rights should be interpreted the same way.

This seems counter to the recent Northern District of Illinois ruling by judge Sharon Coleman that allows illegals to have firearms, which seems to mean that if an illegal immigrant is given a firearm after crossing the border, it is ok for them to avoid any waiting period (as in a slow-motion invasion) as long as they do not buy one. Background checks limit your choices. If I just want a gun in US , it is so easy, but not if I want a Wilson Combat custom gun, or similar. I am for a waiting period, which I define as from when the trigger been pulled , till the bullet leave the barrel. I am impatient.

The right to keep and bear “ARMS” is plural ( meaning more than one) not singular!
The ATF only reluctantly reports approximately 1 million guns (mainly pistols, not "evil" AR-15. All rifles together make up 1% of gun crimes). These numbers are suspiciously low. The ATF seems reluctant to admit how many illegal guns are in the hands of criminals, instead preferring to blame law-abiding gun owners as always! Last week a judge let out 3 juvenile criminals in WA who had full-auto weapons without any charges. WA state only cares about legal guns not those used by criminals.

Waiting periods and permits for our other rights has been my argument too.
The 10 day waiting period in Cali is considered a "cooling off" period. Well, if I already own a bunch of firearms wouldn't the "cooling off" period be useless? I could just grab something I already own. Only the first time buyer is truly thwarted should their intent be to harm.

Every transaction is registered, we understand it. Even ammo purchases are subject to a NICS check and registration. I surely get tracked when buying +1500 rds at a time...

I worked in a large maximum security state prison where the perpetrators of gun violence were incarcerated. I had inmates tell me their guns were not confiscated until they were arrested commiting a armed crime. These inmates told me they would never surrender their guns no matter what laws were passed prohibiting the possession of firearms. These guys thought the outlawing of guns was amusing. Wake up, folks.
I think that the outlawing of guns is amusing, and I legally own. They don't have the numbers or the nuts to pull that shyt off. They just might try though, to their brutal dismay.
The state does not get the benefit of the doubt nor the rule of lenity applied to restrictions on their power. That is reserved for individuals. Somehow this dynamic has flipped entirely and needs to be reversed in a most dramatic way.

The courts have historically interpreted first amendment protections to extend beyond the plain text of the amendment.

This seems counter to the recent Northern District of Illinois ruling by judge Sharon Coleman that allows illegals to have firearms, which seems to mean that if an illegal immigrant is given a firearm after crossing the border, it is ok for them to avoid any waiting period (as in a slow-motion invasion) as long as they do not buy one. Another score for the replacement theory?
Out of all the prisoners the Illinois parole board would deem acceptable for parole. The man that did 42 yrs for armed robbery and murdering 5 people ( one of which was my grandpa) out of the possible parolee pool...they chose him.

I'm using a CPL as my second piece of ID for the 4473 - This almost certainly means that, not only have I already been background checked, fingerprinted, etc, etc, etc, I PROBABLY already have AT LEAST a handgun in my possession, if not on my person. At which point, the entire concept of a "waiting period" goes out the window as being pointless - What? Is the gun (or guns) I already have insufficient to go out the door and knock over a bank, or mug a granny, or whatever other criminal act might suit my fancy? What crime has been prevented by making me wait "X" days before I can take my new purchase home, especially when, as is often the case, the clerk and I have had a conversation about (and the clerk may have even actually handled it as part of the conversation) the one that was already on my hip when I walked in the door?
