Welcome to realistically portrayed air to air combat today. - We fly and (mostly) search and hope we have better and longer-range sensors to detect our enemies before us and have longer and more range effective missiles than them. This is not Hollywood with Top Gun acrobatics. It is boring 90% flying, and 10% (hopefully) you or AWACs detect enemy plane before they detect you and you fire the missile as stealthily as possible, so the enemy doesn't activate counter measures and begins defensive maneuvers.

I am so very proud to see this technology finally become real! I worked on it at Lockheed in 1978/79 as a technician on the Fast Steering Mirror demonstration program. We were burning holes in aluminum plates a quarter of a mile down range. The final test was actually burning holes in a real practice missile.

Well, i guess AC7 TLS damage are pretty realistic then if it took that long to takedown a missile.
Well, the TLS has been nerfed since _Infinity_ for balance reason-more in 7 as it couldn't get through cloud
AC7 lasers are more realistic that other Ace lasers. Lasers of current technology can't instantly slice a target like a light saber, but rather cook the target over several seconds. And of course moisture disperses the laser
