Magnum Tanto XII a Weapon NOT a Tool

    12" long blade of VG10 San-Mai Steel
I sometimes get comments chastising me for calling a knife a weapon when another person sees it as a tool. Most knives have multiple uses. That's why I love them.
Some knives though are clearly weapons. Sure, you could use it as a tool, but that would be like chopping wood with a sword.
THIS IS NOT A MACHETE. THIS IS NOT FOR OPENING BOXES.
If you think this is a "Tool", please just fuck off! 😂

@@goyoelburro if you look at the function and design of the tanto you can use it for several real world applications from cutting food to also chopping kindling for a fire as well as self defense or in your own opinion strictly a weapon this is why every blade or therefore defensive style product is considered a tool until you designate it a weapon take for instance the rifle or AR-15 not designed with a specific application other than the function of igniting a live round of ammunition therefore making the rifle or any gun or weapon still technically a tool yes some thing are designed to be more effective at causing weaponry harm but that doesn't change the fact that it is still a tool.

@@austinthompson5648 you are splitting the most minuet of hairs. I can use a rock as a tool or a weapon, it is best suited as a rock though. Just as most knives have intended purposes based on design and material. The knife he showcases is a borderline short sword and definitely intended to be a weapon. There is nothing wrong with that so why are you dying on that hill. That knife would make a garbage tool.

A lot of pretty devastating bladed weapons came into being as tools.
Balisong butterfly knives were tools for farmers and fishermen. An ingenious solution to the problem of protecting the blade and edge in circumstances where a sheat would be a impractical. Butterfly knives can be worn without a sheat, tucked under a belt. Deployed with one hand.

A knife is a tool or weapon with a cutting edge or blade, usually attached to a handle or hilt. One of the earliest tools used by humanity, knives appeared at least 2.5 million years ago, as evidenced by the Oldowan tools. Originally made of wood, bone, and stone, over the centuries, in step with improvements in both metallurgy and manufacturing, knife blades have been made from copper, bronze, iron, steel, ceramic, and titanium.

The ta to is just a really well designed blade style and can be applicable for just about anything other than sawing. 🤷🏻😂 it becomes a weapon when a person Ill will to cause harm gets in the way of using it for other purposes.may not be intended purposes but it sure as hell works better than a lot of stuff out there. It’s a perfect tool for cutting fish. You can see the same in the evolution of Katanas, which have become specialized chef’s knives for cutting fish. It’s myopic to use absolutes. Even if it’s through the use of a clumsy tautology. Regardless, weapons are also tools, in which case, they’re just a specialized class of tools used to cause bodily harm. People don’t usually project the intention to cause other people harm. That’s the actual crux of your argument against the semantics of naming an object a tool or weapon: whether the intention to cause harm (to someone) is explicit and intrinsic to any object. Yet, you take no responsibility for your own projections. The surety of your position demonstrates some serious Dunning-Kruger Effect.
