DUDE!! I know you posted this back in 2016, but this helped me SO much!!! My cat ran across my computer and messed up my viewing. I tried everything. I even uninstalled SL and reinstalled it and it was still having me me look more upwards then directly forward. The very first one you showed fixed it. Thank you!!!

Love your video tutorials! I just set FocusOffsetRearView etc. to those in your video & WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! I love my new view. Just tweeking these camera view numbers has made my SL more enjoyable. Can't wait to see more of your video lessons for SL!

Yep. there are some HUDs meant for the real small avatars, but really all they are doing is changing these settings. Glad it was helpful.
English isn't my first language and I have always to deal with accents. But I have to say that yours is understandable to me even tho you talk a bit fast sometime. Anyhow, I get the sense mainly and thank you for sharing your tips. Was very useful :)

I've been playing SL since 2004 and always have used the default views. I think I might change that tonight lol. That option looks much nicer.
It really makes a huge difference seeing things from this perspective. you will have to let me know what you think after you try it.
Hey, it really did make a huge difference. It took awhile getting used to having the cam offset instead of straight on my back, but I like it much better and it makes the world feel much more immersible. Thanks for the info, now if I could just bare to go through years of inventory to organize like you do haha.
Well. Maybe dont worry so much about being as insane as me. But I always suggest people spend at least a bit of time sorting.

I was super happy I found this video. I changed the settings, and when i use the camera controls it defaults back to standard settings. I did as suggested in comments and changed the debug settings, and logged out. When i logged back in the view was correct until i used the camera controls again. I wonder why it's not wanting to stick. (using Firestorm viewer)
I noticed that you mention that your cute AO is a custom mix of different animations. Would it be possible for you to make a video of how we can make our own mix of animations?
The default camera is likely the main reason there are so many giant avatar shapes in SL. I use multiple viewers and always go in to the debug when setting one up for the first time to set the camera and focus to something similar to what you do. My shape is over 6 feet tall by actual in world measurement rulers, and yet I still look like a child next to common shapes that people buy. I also blame the default camera for the abundance of badly proportioned shapes that have been sold over the years. As an artist, it drives me crazy to see tiny heads, short arms, and long legs. But that is what looks "normal" to people using the default camera view.
yes its a terrible way to look at the world generally, and does lead to all sorts of building miscues.
My beef is that avi's of radically different heights don't line up on most multi-person animations, which are (ahem) quite popular. As I understand it, the hips are used for general alignment, so the shorter avi's feet and the body just kind of dangle.

Watching in 2018 again lol. Settings got reset somehow. I feel like everyone else is a tall freak of nature, and then I'm soo short. They make these settings for giant avatars lol. And my avi isn't really that short compared to most avatars. I've been tall before. I really just wish the camera would stay behind me and not go up over my head. It's hard to look at things in SL. End Rant.
The camera position in SL by default is a large part of why avatar scale is a bit out of line with "reality". It is nice at least that those of us who want to can make adjustments.

Love this. I spend so much time trying to get my camera angles right and this explains it perfect. Also what AO are you using? I love how your avi twirls when it turns around instead of the awkward half steps mine does now
its a custom AO. A lot of animations from Body Language though. Glad the video was helpful. ; )

you are likely quietly crashing on exit. Might try logging in fresh, changing the setting and then immediately relogging to get them to save.

I tend to run on high most of the time but tend to run region windlight so I suppose it's more the graphics setting.

These are perfect settings, no matter how tall you are. There is no "perfect" or "accurate" height. That's completely relative.

How do you fix the front camera when I go to front camera it goes offset
i dont use the front camera muc, but there are debug settings for it as well. just replacerear with front and mess with the settings

well I dont really know what you mean by "a blur". Best to check with the support group for your viewer in world. That way you cna provide specific details on what you are seeing.

Virus no. As for "better", I think it is but it is different from Firestorm. It doesn't have as many items in preferences or as many custom features.
