I was thinking there was probably a handicapped person living there and needed those. Along with the "kitchen" faucet that probable helped with washing their hair.
I used to be a home health nurse and my guess is the owner was elderly and washed her hair in that bathroom sink before she got that awesome shower installed. The kitchen faucet would have helped a lot with that! I wonder if they were the original owner and that's why the house was so vintage?
exaclty. it was so obvious that the bathroom was renovated to accomodate a person with mobility issues. Love their transformations but hate the "humor"
This might be my favorite transformation! You guys did a really excellent job with choosing what to keep and what to get rid of. Bonnie's furnishings were 1000% on point as well. Thanks for sharing!!
Having rented an Airbnb twice in Austin for the gran prix (in fact, I’d never heard of Airbnb until USGP 2012), I loved that you included a pic of the event on the bedroom gallery wall! This flip turned out so beautifully. Super cute.
I love that they added a desk to the master bedroom! I was thinking that for remote workers they had so much space to incorporate that setup - love the additions they put back into the property!
Love the funny edits (like the flying dishwashers in this vid) they are always unexpected and make the experience of watching more enjoyable with those original and silly touches
It looks great but you should've put a pocket door on that master bathroom. its going to be hard to open if someone is using the sink. You'll also have to close the door to open the cabinet doors or drawers.
Also, NEVER put a stove/oven up against a wall. It would have been so easy to just move it over 14" inches to have counter space on the left instead of a wall!!!!
The only thing I would change was the glossy upper wood cabinets. Looks like plastic laminate?? But overall, another fantastic flip. And I also love that huge backyard! Such a treat to have a property like that..
I’m a long time watcher of your channel and wow you guys, your beautiful and hard work paid off and I just feel proud of you even though I don’t know you! Such a great flip , enjoyable to watch and truly #gratifying. Best of luck with HomeMade!!
I don't get the American showers with fixed shower heads. You finally have a house with an adjustable height and you change it to a fixed one. Especially for a Airbnb when you don't know the size of people who'll use the shower it would've been better to be able to change the height
Feel like they should have kept a bit of a drop-zone mud room at the back of the dining room...maybe behind a pocket door. Not so much for the airbnb, but for resale later. Otherwise, a fantastic reno. As for the airbnb, they should have swapped one of those queen beds with a double set of bunk beds. Would have gone from sleeping 6 to sleeping 8 and from 3 separate beds to 6 separate beds. Very useful when it's not just couples or when there are a lot of kids. Also, a pull out couch in the master bedroom would add another bed!
It's a lot of work to host an Airbnb for only grossing $1,000 per month. I would get a permanent renter. No cleaning fees, or need for a property manager. Would probably clear more profit.
All i could think about was imagine growing up in this house and being interested in cows and tractors. The farms and pastures you could build on that carpet! I want to do it.
Nice house. Nice job. I wouldn't have made the kitchen 2-toned. I would have made it all wood grain. No kitchens from the 60s were 2-tone, if you were trying to achieve a retro look. Also, most designers put the darker on the bottom because it's more likely to get dirtier and more scuffed up.
I would have made the small kitchen into the master bathroom. In what is now the dining room I would have made that into a huge kitchen. The dining area would be the rear of the huge main room. I don't see that this would have cost more. You already brought plumbing out to the garage.
Do not put a glass on the shower. That is a ROLL IN wheelchair shower.Surprising that they could get past the large vanity. But, that explains the unusual fixture, it is for hair washing a person in a wheelchair. That kitchen really needs to be larger. Oh Well, it is no longer a handicapped accessible rental.
I love the channel, I can't remember when I first found it but I binged your videos and watch every new one. But what if I want to flip my own house? We're slowly working on it but it's going to take many years. It needs a lot of work, it was built in 1933. It's small and cute, but has some big issues. The bathroom will have to completely come down, it was an addition that has no ventilation besides one window and they slanted the roof wrong so ice builds up. The chances of mold in that bathroom are very high. The kitchen is a lean to and my boyfriend says it's no the best structurally and should be rebuilt. Another thing is working on a better foundation, the original foundation is mostly rocks so the house is a bit crooked. We're planning on no basement (even though that would provide more square footage) as that's a big expense and will take longer. It's a story and a half, after we redo the kitchen we'd like to extend the second floor over it. There's some beautiful original pieces to the house, hardwood under laminate (we sanded and restained the living room but the kitchen has at least three layers of tile, linoleum?, laminate and potentially some sort of floor leveler), one banister, and the cupboards seem to be handmade. They've got wavy wood around the cabinets (I don't know a good way to describe it) and they're slightly uneven but I love the charm. The counters are a weirdly low height lol. We want to keep it in it's older style, when my boyfriend bought it they had painted the trim a grey-blue which didn't work and it's back to brown. We like old appliances and such so it matches very well. Any ideas and stuff from anyone would be appreciated, it's fun but daunting
I've never understood the appeal of having two sinks in the primary bathroom. I'd much rather have the extra counter space. Anyone have them and like them, and can explain it to me?
My wife and I get ready at the same time. It is a nightmare with only 1 sink, constantly bumping into each other. 2 sinks mean we can both get ready without getting in each other's way
Can I just make a suggestion? I love these videos but the music is so loud! I have to turn it down when there's music and then blast it with the speaking parts. If you can try to adjust the audio on all of your videos would be great! Thanks
I feel a bit mixed about renovating these old houses. Due to all of the memories and childhoods that were in these houses. For example, my grandparents own an old house and they have owner it for 50 years and they dont want to sell it because of all the memories they made. And its sad seeing houses like these being renovated and the unique aspects being destroyed. These renovated houses all look the same and dont have any of the unique features that made them stand out.
Who cares? It's a private home, not a historical landmark. Hope you're saving up now to buy your grandparents' house when they pass, to save those memories.
What? Who doesn’t poo in their shower? 🤪 I too have a 1961 ranch style-had NO style. It was a blank canvas. The kitchen was huge with a great floor plan, so we just replaced everything, but didn’t have to reconfigure. I never appreciated this style of house until I lived in one. ❤
I'm a little upset that a 1ft cabinet wasn't put on the left side of the stove. It is miserable to cook when the handles on the sauce pans have no where to go.
They mean the mortgage vs rental income. The house was paid in cash (probably a hard money loan). After finishing the repairs they got a mortgage (and paid off the hard money loan). The rental income pays the mortgage/expenses and they make $1K profit a month. Though it does seem weird that they were only in $2K debt before they broke even.
Gorgeous home. It all looks amazing. The en suite bathroom is beautiful but doesn’t really match the rest of the house. It’s like they made a beautiful mid century house and then lost their nerve and went traditional in the bathroom. Still beautiful though. Just a little off balanced.
not a fan of this one, too bland and sterile looking. Don't like laundry in the garage when you had all of that long space you could've incorporated a laundry room which would have been so much nicer
$5000 revenue a month? I have doubts. It’s $136 a night, and looks like it books out only 3-4 days of the week each week… at least in February of 2024. That’s revenue of only $1600 to $2200, and Airbnb takes some 3%-14% cut from that. What am I missing?
What a beautifully done ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU ! The instructions and the photographs are brilliant. It is thorough and genuinely informative. Ryan got another winner! No one does it better!
As someone who’s recently experienced a disability due to a fall, I have to say, I so appreciate all those grab bars in the shared bathroom!
I was thinking there was probably a handicapped person living there and needed those. Along with the "kitchen" faucet that probable helped with washing their hair.
I love that we got to see the project one year on...and see how the numbers just WORK!
As a seasoned house flipper, I can say that your choice of materials and finishes is top-notch. It adds so much value.
I used to be a home health nurse and my guess is the owner was elderly and washed her hair in that bathroom sink before she got that awesome shower installed. The kitchen faucet would have helped a lot with that!

Also given the age of the house. Prolly someone lived their grey years there as independently as they could.

Love the home... hate that it's an airbnb, with so much going on about the housing shortage, I hope they consider making it a longer term rental
I love your flips! They're always done so well. I do miss the ease of scrolling down for your list of paint colors used. :)
