Best Long Trail video ever! I watched it all in one go. You really captured the ups and downs of a thru-hike and Luke was an awesome supporting actor. All worth the wait!!
Thanks, Evan!!! I appreciate that even more, since I know you understand what it’s like to Thruhike AND what it’s like to put together a full trail video!😅 Forgot to tell you the other day… I rewatched your full AT vid while i was working on this edit. Man, you really nailed that and it’s like hard for me to comprehend how you were able to piece it all together the way you did. My brain literally only works in chronological order so I can’t seem to figure out how to skip around and just cut to the plot points like you do and make it make sense. I know my editing has improved a million times though since having you as a mentor, so thank you!
You guys......one of the best videos of The Long Trail that we have seen...loved...love...loved this...thanks for sharing your journey with all of us...we can't wait to see your next video...hopefully...videos..
Still wish I could of gave you 2 sum trail magic when u came through the lower part of v.t . One day it will happen if u do either trail again. Enjoyed the recap 🙌
I second that! Best Long Trail Video Award! So. Well. Done. I'm about to head out to take this one on myself and I must admit you scared the crap out of me a bit! idk how I'm gonna get er done, but I'm gonna dig in and find out!
Where’s Evan?!? We took our special needs daughter to Boston for extensive medical testing and she wanted to visit Handstand. She’s a fan. I looked up your shop, and looks like you’re not in Boston. I thought you were. Anyhow, she still asks to watch your vids.
Aw that’s really sweet! Please tell your daughter hello! I used to be located in massschusetts (an hour north of Boston) but after the AT we relocated even further north in NH!
Just catching up with the latest video…. You crack me up , while falling , the hair goes everywhere and you keep in laughing… that’s why I love these … awesome stuff ! 👍
Watching again from the laptop. (It's DaniK). Just finished the NPT on Sunday, so back on my bullshit of planning the next one before the AT. Not sure I'm ready for this. But still...can't WAIT. Met an AT hiker (class of 2018) on the last stretch before Lake Placid. He nodded enthusiastically when I suggested this as another next biggie before. I know it gets way harder after that first 100...that's what I'm worried about...but clearly the BEST views :) Was it pretty well marked? I'm solo, but have a Garmin.
Why did you want to? Because you are badass and hard core. Im likebibwanna hike like Liz and walking from my car to the trailhead I'm winded and want to go home
Outstanding video-- this trail has intrigued me. If my daughter ends up at the U. of Vermont- I may be tackling it. What tent is that you used on this trail? Would you recommend that style? I ask as you def. put it to work with the rain you encountered.... looks very light weight
Seriously enjoy watching you and Luke, good to see a new one posted from you all! Happy Trails 💚 PS: River baths are the absolute best! Can be soooo cold, but feels incredible when finished, especially after a hard day of hiking!
Great Video and really enjoyed watching! Weather looked terrible and some of those climbs looked scary. I can’t remember the name of the man You hiked so much of the AT with but have y’all (southern slang, lol) remained in touch with each other?
Yes, Evan and I are still and touch and have gotten together almost every year since the AT! The most recent was my “trail days” video, a few videos back!
I'm not crying.. u are! Omgs that was a wonderful video. I don't usually comment on utube but girl u have seriously got me in my feelings right now! Thank you! Thank you! On soooo many levels
I really enjoyed watching through this in one go - I did watch all the individual episodes - it still blows my mind that you have trails hundreds of miles long (I live on an island 27 x14 miles!!)
Totally awesome video Liz! It would take me forever to hike that. I’d be stopping every 5 feet to check out a plant. That ghost pipe was amazing. Thanks for sharing this with us! Hugs & love to you, Luke, & Miss Piggy ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome job putting this together 👍. Enjoyed watching this adventure of both of you. Love the carefree spirit you guys have. One of the best full feature videos of the Long Trail capturing all it has to offer and teach 😁 Hope you guys are doing well.
Thanks papa bear!!! I think I saw you have Covid right now- hope you get better ASAP so you can bang out the rest of your hike! Although you’ve killed it so far and still have plenty of time🤘🏼
Great video! Cool that Luke was with you the whole time. Love that opening theme music, too, funKAYY. I haven't hiked in Vermont yet, but I'm sure I will some day. Closest I've gotten is the Adirondacks. Mount Horrid?? Haha, what a name. "Fear less." That's a good motto.
Love it all ❤️👣. You two are living the good life. I watched your AT videos and Evans also. So cool he performed the wedding ceremony for you. I'm pretty sure I'm hiking the Long trail in August. I've hiked it before but in 2 large sections. In '15 I hiked from the AT cut off North to Canada. I saved the southern section so I could enjoy it during my AT hike in '21. . Hoping it's a bit dryer than your trip but it's great to be out in the mountains anytime. Best to you and Luke always, Mad Rat 😎
I didn't realize how much I like hiking videos, yours in particular. Once I watched 1, I can't get enough. I'm backtracking now!! I'm saving up to come get Dreads from you next year. I'm in TX and will drive. ROAD TRIP & DREADS!! Makes for an awesome birthday!
Mad Tom Shelter, if I recall, was a closed-in lean to overlooking a beautiful vista. I did the first 85 miles in May and tapped out in Rutland. There was no one on the trail and the trees were still leafless. Ice on some of the higher ridges. Having hiked and lived in the Whites in my teens and early 20s I found the LT to be less elevation change, but deceptively hard on the legs and feet.
Superb vlog! I'm planning on hiking it this Fall, and want me gf to join for a week. Any suggestions on stretches that combine beauty with trailhead accessibility? Thanks.
Great video. I hiked the Long Trail back in 2009, and it was cool recognizing places and remembering what I 'd done there. For instance, when I got to the Middlebury ski area it was sunny and breezy and I spent an hour there drying out all of my clothes.
Great film, glad I found your channel while looking for the Long Trail. I laughed at the last part - sometimes challenges don't help relationships. But there ya go! We're all different.
Aweee love love these hiking videos so pretty even in the storms. I'm too chicken to do a hike the ones y'all been on and especially the Appalachian trail, and you did a lot of it by yourself! You go lady! Y'all are too cute, thank y'all for sharing❣️
Warm food after a long day is priceless. I tried the stoveless thing for a few trips. Not for me. For me, having some hot food when it's cold or rainy is absolutely priceless. Huge morale boost.
Nicely done Liz ! I miss the Long Trail, I can't believe it's almost been a year ! It was a pleasure meeting you and Luke on night 1. Hope y'all are doing well !
Liz & Luke! Back in action on trail! Congrats on completing another adventure together! The Long Trail!!! I've been with you from the beginning & am so glad your still taking us along. There's nothing like being out on trail! You two are an awesome team! Looking forward to whatever comes next! Please keep em coming!!! Very best wishes always!!! Bob V
Wow Liz and Luke, that was a really challenging hike between the weather conditions and the technical, rocky sections. Congratulations on completing the Long Trail! Question: Did you guys have your car parked at the end? Have a great weekend!!
I watched your section videos. This is the best LT video I’ve seen. Terrific editing, in every aspect. You exude joy; both of you. Thank you for sharing your wonderful life!
Two of my favorite hikers, people of all time. It was a pleasure to watch again. If ever looking for a similar trail but at only 137 miles and nearby, try the (NTP) Northville Placid Trail in Upstate New York. It’s a carbon copy of the 100 mile Wilderness. - Nails
@@LizKidder The mud and the rain don't look too appealing I guess. A bit like pregnancy though where you forget the pain and only remember the beautiful stuff.
Watching civilians in uncomfortable situations like inclement weather is hilarious! 😂 I only made it three minutes in… no way could I tolerate somebody who gets that worked up because it’s wet or cold outside or because they’re tired.
Great video! I’m thinking about getting into hiking and this was the first video I watched, and it really gave me a good idea of what it’s like. Looks like a lot of fun! Thanks!

Great video! Brings back a lot of memories. I was an end to ender in 1971.

NICE VID!! Great job!! Best on youtube :)

How do you afford the hike and still able to have a home with bills and all that fun stuff ?
Why do Trumpanzees always ask questions like that?
We’re both self-employed and live below our means in order to be able to do things like this!
So cool.
What tent are you using in this video?

What kind of day camper brings a GD umbrella into the woods?
There is a guy that has thru hiked the A.T. seven times who uses the same umbrella. His trail name is Hawk. I guess he’s just a day camper too.
