My name is Tony. I enjoy long walks along the trail, love tree burls, and have a squeaky backpack.
I thru hiked the Long Trail over 21 days during July and August 2023. This video captures my third, and final, week on the trail covering mile 184 to mile 273, from US Route 2 to the Canadian border.
I almost cried when upon returning home, I discovered my camera settings were inadvertently adjusted, resulting in footage quality well below my expectations. Washed out colors at times and grainy footage in low light. It took a while, but I’m over it. I made adjustments during editing to improve the quality.
I take time to record and edit these videos so one day when I’m an old(er) man, I can sit back relive my younger days. In addition, I hope others who love to plan trips like I do over the winter months can possibly gain something from watching. I attempted to capture the reality of the trail with its beauty and challenges, along with interactions with fellow hikers. To aid folks pouring over maps and the guidebook, I added shelter names, road crossings and other points of interest as captions.
Well, I hope you enjoy the video, and it doesn’t suck too bad. LOL
Awesome series. Thank you for all the work you put into it so that we could tag along.
Why thank you sir.😁
Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and put this together. Great motivation for Northville Placid later this year.
Thank you Mike. It really was my pleasure!😁
Watched this with my 91 year old dad tonight, while I was staying with him during an illness. He got us hiking the trail when we were kids back in the 70s. He completed all but about 25 miles before age caught up with him. I've still got a good 50% to go myself. Proud to say my son and my brother have both gotten their end to end. I am so blown away more with your video skills, such great content. Thank you so much.
That is so touching and am happy you got to enjoy it with your dad. I no longer have my dad, but hold our outdoor memories we shared together as some of my favorite life experiences. Thank you for sharing.😊
Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together. It brought back a lot of memories from my 2019 thru. Long Trail is something else and you did a wonderful job showing it off. See ya bak in the ADK sometime.
Thank you for the kind feedback!😁
Thank you for the fabulous journey,Tony!❤

Hey Tony, thanks for sharing your experience. Outstanding all around.
I hiked that final section at my UVM trek before freshman school year started. Good memories seeing familiar sights.
Thank you. It was quite the experience. As much as I love the Adirondacks, Vermont is something special! and unique!😁
Great Video Tony, loved the adventure, nice pics of the leanto’s and lodges along the way.
When’s the next adventure and video? Keep them coming.

I am lucky that I have probably a dozen friends from work or my neighborhood who enjoy backpacking and hiking. I have met a lot of friends while backpacking and hiking as well. I’m a lucky dude I guess.🤷🏻♂️😁
Well that did not suck too bad😂 great footage and you captured the feeling of being on the trail with all the PUDS
@@Karenwhitepaints why thank you Karen. I appreciate the kind feedback.😊
Excellent journey < congrats on End to End. Any chance you can send me or do a quick vid of your gear?

@@twotonadk I’m softening up the CO, typo, I mean wife, she’s saying I can disappear for a month. Woot-woot !
@@jaycreature3893 congratulations!😂
This was so awesome, what date in July did you head out? Love that you showcased all of the shelters, and the footage looks great. That climb up Mansfield looks intimidating but I'm sure after all of those miles under your belt it wasn't too bad (plus the restaurant after was probably amazing). Keep on keeping on, can't wait to see the next summer's adventures.
I postponed a week until GMC gave the green light for Long Trail hiking after the floods, so I started on 7/21. I thought showing the shelters would helping future hikers planning for their hikes. The shelters on the Long Trail are pretty cool and have so much variability. Stark difference to the standard ADK lean to that I am so accustomed to (and love). It was a cool change of pace. The climb up Mansfield was pretty cool and manageable. Thanks for the feedback!😁
I so enjoyed your series..The issues with your camera were not at all noticeable..I knew you are an ADK hiker by those boots. Cheers!
Thank you my friend!, I love the boots comment!😂
Yikes! Just saw that last ladder section. I guess my Long Trail sectioning is over. Lol
@@KatieValleyBourdeau don’t sweat it. None of the ladders and exposure were that bad. It was pretty fun. Just send it!😁
What a hike, Tony!! Fantastic job capturing the realness of backpacking for multiple weeks! Great content as always! Thanks for sharing. 👍💯
Thanks for the feedback brother. We’ll get together at some point. 😁
Really enjoyed your series. I'm planning an LT thru hike in July this year and this is making me more excited. What's your tent and tarp gear at 20:22? It looks cozy.
I have been using the same LL Bean featherlight one man tent for a decade. They no longer make them. I have thought about upgrading to something slightly larger, but haven’t.🤷🏻♂️
The tarp is a Kammok tarp. Using the tarp gives me a lot more space for storage and to cook when it’s raining and there is no shelter.
Those GMC trail crews and designers are awesome! A classmate and I did Journey's End to Hazen's Notch way back. I attempted a start at Johnson, north bound, had to abort. Noted I ran into JoJo and Grunt, at the highway. Thank you for posting, that shot at 36:58 is spectacular, and all that editing!! Yikes......! 👏🏻🏕
Yes they are! Thanks for the nice feedback. BTW, the “spectacular” shot at 37:49 is a black screen…🤷🏻♂️😂
@@twotonadk the forest shot. Amazing 🤩 36:58
