i have noticed on my slx reels that spool tension is important, i set it it to where the lure slowly falls with no over run, and use only 1 brake and they cast great set up that way.
I’m over here feeling like I hit the Daily Double every time that cast location arrow shows up.
I LOVE when you break down a specific feature like this. It’s your strength.
I analyze medical documents, diagnosis, diseases, etc all day at work. Figuring out fishing tackle is easy compared to that :)

I got diawa everything except for a citica and I couldn't throw a texas rig on it like i wanted to so swapped it to my frog rod and its great just a thought for ya

how does the Knob next to the Handle impact performance , I am fairly new to Bait Casters , I know I use the knob to help fine tune my bait caster , pending the wait of the Lure I am throwing, I will adjust but letting the line fall freely to the ground with Lure on, seems like it does some breaking from that prospective too , can you explain what it does vs what you were showing ?

The point of the mag brakes is to make quick adjustments when changing lures so you don’t have to open the side plate. Also more precise adjustments
So for the SLX’s is pushing the brakes outwards turning them on or vise versa?

The xt has way more adjustments, so when you eliminate the side tensioning on the SLX so you put it at a great disadvantage..... part of adjusting a bait caster is setting the drop rate with the side tensioning.....1/4 oz lure is on the light side for a bait caster I'd guess they'd be closer with a 3/4oz lure.... I'd expect the xt to be a better reel due to the fact it has 2 extra letters in the name plus the fact it's $40 more in price.

You MUST. Same rod... I Daiwa makes a rod that is changeable from spinning handle to casting handle.... so you’d be using EXACT same rod. Regardless.... I’ve been dying for this comparison. I’m too lazy to do it. 🤣
@@christopherduda7281 A spinning rod would have a very large first eye, far away from the reel itself. To allow the line to go freely of the reel. A Baitcasting rod does not need that, it instead has an eye closer to the reel, that is much smaller, as the baitcaster needs line control. Therefore the trigger rod has more, smaller eyes, and a rod made for spinning, isn't ideal for baitcasting, and vice versa.
One last question... OK probably not the last question. How does the slx and slx xt compare to the reels on the 99 $ challenge?
Just found your channel researching casting reels and I have a couple of questions. I'm new to baitcasters, looking for a reel to throw say 3/16-1/4oz ish lures. Should I get a bfs or what? Ahh my budget is in the $100-150ish hah I'd greatly appreciate some help!
New batch of Fishband Brilliant GH100 reels up for sale April 1,2019 7:00-am. Out of three sellers 41 reels bought from USA customers 26 other countries. Two sellers only have limited supply of right hand models left. One seller sold out A forth seller is selling reels for $99 dollars a pop. I think someone holds your opinion quite highly, don’t you? I thought might get a laugh out of knowing this. By the way I bought two in case one breaks.
I stuck on the slx 150. When I feed the line through the eyelet does it go over or under the metal rod across the top on the reel?
For a more accurate comparison you should throw a 1/2 - 3/4 oz lure with less wind resistance just
Really strange I cant find any difference of distance between my VBS vs SVS inf. only ease of fine tuning
It all depends on what size weight lures you use heavier weighted lures require more braking for controle
What rod were you using?
You are running 100% braking power on one reel (4/4) and only 66% breaking power on the other reel (4/6), not really a valid comparison. would have been better off running 100% on both or 50% on both ie 2/4 and 3/6.
Which rod is that crucial? Do you have crucial gen2 6’11 dropshot?

More surface area never means more friction! Friction is a function of the coefficient of friction multiplied by the normal force. The brass ring being angled and moving probably applies more force ( by deflecting them more) to the shoes to slow the spool, not more surface area. Common misconception about friction.
more surface area means more friction. Thats why when you want more stopping power in a car, you put bigger brake rotors and pads
@@THEREELTEST They are larger to disipate heat (cross sectional area is a large factor in heat disapation aka add fins to things.) and house beefier springs that apply more force.
@@THEREELTEST You can google the friction equation if you want. nothing about area at all. I was even asked this in an interview question with GE for a mech eng position. What would take more force to move. A cell phone laying flat on its largest surface or on its skinny sides basicly. The answer is they require the same force to move despite a larger surface area laying on its back side in the first choice.
I still say the larger the brake surface area the more friction it creates

Just a simple request, can you use only one standard unit for the measurement..you viewer are not american , so different country use different standard measurement unit. So if you want to use feet, just stay with feet and not include yard for the next cast..it give a lot of trouble for the conversion.
D. Cerozlay yards are almost the same as meters
In my opinion the best reel for your money. But the issue i encounter with this reel is that it han an annoying noise when you retrieve after a month of use. Note i always clean my reel every week

i use both of them... but the first SLX is the BEST ! Almost no backlash on 2 brakes on & no side to side spool movement...

I have an Slx and I have 0 of the breaks on. She’s throws fine and doesn’t even act like she wants to back lash
The break that sits on the outside is something called mechanical brakes wich controll in the end of the cast
And the one inside is the regular six pin that Control the begining of the cast.
So of you arr geting backlash in the begining you need to det the internal break higher and if you are geting backlash in the end you need to Change the mechanical breaks👍

the K is the smoothest reel from $250 and under. Has a more solid retrieve too.

You have to have your thumb on the reel bruh I ligit use my slx with 0 brakes on and can cast effortlessly and can get to about 70 yards you just have to have you thumb on the line.
I went with a guy who uses almost 0 brakes or spool tension and as long as you dont throw it too hard that is the best way to get a long cast

I must have gotten a defective one then. Because mine is a piece of shit. If I put any of the brakes on and use the eternal settings, I have to increase the drag to even get the spool to turn. But then it reduces my external brake settings once I start reeling. It's grindy, rough and noisy. I expect better for my money.
if you knew how to float your thumb over the fluff then you could make great use of 1 brake on the slx. of course it isn't going to go much further than with 2 brakes if you let the line blow up lmfao
thats not the point jackass.. you could technically turn off all the brakes and just use thumb, it must hurt for you to be this stupid
