I clicked on this as a flames fan after seeing you sneak into Scotiabank Arena. I stayed after seeing you help people in my community. I live close to East Village and work there, I see these people all the time coming into my store. I try to help them the best I can. I’m helping one person from the drop in centre nearby get some used medical textbooks to possibly get into medicine, and in turn she has some broadcasting connections since I’m going into media and communications. I see so many familiar faces in this video. From a Calgarian; thank you

They are probably tired of half those people constantly doing drugs in their bathrooms while kids are there. You need to wake up to reality bud. Those sketchbags you are trying to "help" have stabbed and pushed random innocent people in front of trains constantly and made life hell over the last few years in Downtown Calgary.

Tim hortons is totally like that. Or they’ll charge you for the cup. I have to pay 10 cents for one of their typical coffee cups. 20 cents for a decent plastic cup. No joke!
I think it’s insane. The amount of money those franchise’s make. And they have to charge or can’t spare any cups.. they’re just cups.. if you ask for an ice water with an order? It’s free.. but you have to be a paying customer.

Easiest way I've ever snuck into the dome was go to customer service and tell them I left my ticket in my jacket at my seat. They let me in game 4 vs Tampa in 04

When I was a kid, to get into the Big Ten football games, it was a simple as getting a bunch of friends and rushing the gate. Most of the time everyone got in, except one time my friend got his arm broke in the ensuing Ruckus and confusion.
Wow that story took a sad turn at the end, but as they say you can’t make an omelette without breaking a kid’s arm;)

i live here and its so freaking sad how bad the homeless problem has gotten. I moved from Calgary back in 2015/16 to Nova Scotia for a little over 8 years with my family and graduated highschool there and moved back to calgary the summer of 2022 i believe and holy cow has this place changed and gone downhill from when i first left to moving back. I've been trying to get my first job here since i moved back here and still unemployed which is sad when so many places claim to be hiring and really aren't. anyways loved the video and glad to see someone helping the people of calgary that need the help.

I was in Calgary last fall and tbh was homeless with my gf. But it was a good time we did enjoy it.
Some of my favourite memories are living minimally in a vehicle in a foreign country. Although I wouldn't claim to know the horror living on the streets. Glad you had a good experience though:)

they ladies at that tim hortons go through alot, and they help alot of the homeless. They stopped giving free cups when they started to abuse it, They also torment the staff in there. its not a surprise they dont do free stuff any more. but good on you.
Looking at the situation that’s what I figured had caused such a harsh response. If the owner cared for its staff, they should hire security for them. Although for them to be effective, I’d pass on whatever company staffs the Saddledome;)

I used to break into the old corral in Calgary to sleep. It was rarely locked. This makes me wonder if the saddledome would have been a nicer place to sleep

As this channel grows, I hope to be doing just that:)
I like to see you giving back to the community. However, as someone who works at the saddledome most of those staff members are groups of marginalized communities making $15/hr. Don’t let the suits of the ushers fool you we are mostly broke uni students and the older members of staff are working multiple jobs while working this one. By not blurring the faces of the individuals you get them into deep trouble. It can be very difficult and frustrating to manage the large amount of people coming into the dome at a time and when you exploit that with their faces on camera you put their jobs on the line. Why not just give back to the community without pulling stunts that you think are affecting the big companies in this Robin Hood - like fashion it’s not fair to us small employees to be reprimanded for your actions even if you meant good by them. Not to mention the dome and CS&E do lots of charity type events for different groups. Many of my coworkers and personal friends are seen in your video and they really do not appreciate being put on camera while just trying to do their job.
I do my best to blur the faces of the staff members that I could see getting into trouble. (Check the series to confirm this.)
I even use to scold Arena management saying “don’t blame your lowest paid staff, take responsibility and provide better training.” From what I could tell on this heist that was the ticket scanner. The gentlemen running the metal detector is obviously supposed to be focusing on that which he was.
The cops, well they’re cops. Figure it out.
As far as just giving away without the heist goes, this video is getting the attention it is because of the heist. Which in turn is shinning a necessary light on people in the community that desperately need help.
Just the hand outs wouldn’t be getting this kind of awareness. On top of that these videos could potentially change the thought process of the people it’s attracting. As many have said “I’ve clicked for the heist, stayed for the handouts.” This format gives more than the viewer signs up for, in the best way.

That’s the more responsible approach. Especially with how cheap tickets are!

@@PoodlePizza We’ve all got our drugs, they just don’t have walls to do them behind.
Another thing that irks me about downtown Calgary is lack of seating areas to dine and lack of affordable options and washrooms. Especially for a newcomer who doesn’t discover the core mall right away. Was a total nightmare moving to here, with kids at first and going downtown. And like nowhere will allow you to use a washroom or sit down anywhere and eat with small children. Just because other people ruin it, doesn’t mean families and children should suffer. There should be plenty more accessible washrooms that are upkept for small children. And places to eat. I just think the way of them going about that? Is insane and inhumane.
And people shouldn’t be allowed to deny small children, use of a washroom! That is just the most inhumane thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I don’t know how anyone can say no to a small child, needing to use a bathroom. But this city is really wrong for that.
I completely agree with you. From the business perspective I imagine the owners are saying to staff that washrooms are for customers only no exceptions because if we let one in, we'll be letting them all in. But from a humane perspective, how can you not let someone use a toilet that needs it?
If Adam Sandler taught me anything, I'd be lining those kids of yours up to pee on that building;)
@@MattWatsonComedy yeah and I completely understand from the business perspective too. But at the same time? It’s kids. I understand maybe when they have difficult adults and they’re not a paying customer, anyways. They have that right. But when it’s a child? I feel like there should really be an exception. And there should be more vast and widely available and maintained washrooms. I don’t like that about downtown. Because they have all these attractions and events, they hold to bring families and their children down that way. If they’re going to? They should bare in mind better the needs of small children and have everyone more on board with catering to that particular group better.
Idk how they expect to draw families and children to an area always. They can not accommodate them.
There’s also a lot of kids who live down here and growing up in the area of downtown. And trying to learn how to navigate the city on their own. I feel bad for kids who go to these places and get treated like they can’t even use a bathroom when they need it. I just feel like it breeds more hate and adds to the problem. Than it really helps anyone. Probably turns a lot of these young people very bitter like the adults. Idk how they expect anyone to respond well to that treatment. If that’s all people end up knowing? How can you blame people for being so cold now? That’s how everyone’s being treated.
I just feel like there should really be a better way. I was appalled when first moving here. Because I’m from the Okanagan. And they have an overwhelming homeless problem. They do deny washrooms to adults who don’t seem like paying customers or have been knowingly problematic. But they would NEVER say no to a child needing to use a bathroom. And I just feel like? If they can figure that out? Why can’t Calgary?
And you have places to eat and affordable places to eat more in abundance and better quality of food there even. And they’re better about overall hygiene and cleanliness through out the city. I just feel like that should definitely be more of a priority to the city than like so many other things.. because those are very basic and simple things, you’d think the city would be more concerned with. Since we shouldn’t be catering to treating everyone like criminals. Because that’s part of what makes criminals. Treating people like that.. basically grooming..
If we treated more people with dignity and respect? They’re more inclined to return that behaviour.
That is one of our favourite movies! That’s funny! I quote it all the time. Luckily my kids are all mostly older now. My youngest is 7, almost 8 and probably struggles with it the most still, though. And I hate it for him. But I have definitely let him pee on some businesses fs! When ya gotta go? Ya gotta go. I have seen people just squat down or just let it rip, everywhere through out town! Even at bus stops and train stations. Like? No one wants to see that! It’d be a lot better if there were more washrooms so especially little kids wouldn’t have to..
