This is a song I never thought I would do.....cause it's just the kinda song you don't attempt unless you can back it up..and I must admit i was nervous.....a tall order!! I was surprised to hear some people ask me to sing it among a few other Michael songs...(I also have The way you make me feel) I think it turned out ok. Not like the KING of Pop Though.
I didn't think I could find the tracks....but I found them.....Funny enough...I think these are actually THE SAME tracks Mike Sang to.... the master minus tracks. I think they release the master minuses after so many years...but I could be wrong....but I think this is the original that Michael sang to. Very cool. I hope you guys like what you hear!! The crazy thing is they left out the choir... If this was indeed the very same track he same to...they must have left out the choir because of a union thing for the singers...or???......so I had to take the original...and paste in ONLY the choir parts from the master....which is why you'll hear a TINY bit of Michael in the back ground here and there when he's overlapping the choir. It was worth it to have the choir though...and I think it did a decent job considering.
Also...for those who are wondering. This is a "comped vocal track"....I must have screwed up at least 4-5 times or more...... in the outro.....and once in the second verse....so the video won't always match the vocal.....every now and again there's a phrase I had to pop in cause of a mistake. Please forgive me. Thanks you guys for all your support. I'll see you around the bend!!!
Michael was an amazing talent. This is a half step down from where he sang it...BROTHER could sing HIGH!! R.I.P. Michael!!

This will always be his best song, in my opinion. It perfectly encompasses everything he represented. It is NOT an easy vocal performance by any stretch of the imagination, but you definitely did it justice. Well done.

I fully agree - this song fully represents his… how to put it - innocence, beliefs? Either way, it’s a great piece of music and I’ll always believe this is the best MJ’s song, which is fully in line with what he stood for.
And of course, most importantly! This cover gives it full justice! Well done :)
I remember vividly the day he passed away. I was a manager for a music retailer and the moment I heard confirmations that he had indeed died, I knew we'd have a spike in people wanting to purchase his music, so I wasted no time in setting up a large display and loading one of his greatest hits compilations into the sound system. A few hours later, I witnessed one of those magical moments we only see in the movies.
"Man In the Mirror" started to play and one by one, everybody in the store was joining in singing along. By the song's end, everyone was singing, many were dancing, and more than a few of us were crying, as well.
I remember when Prince died, as well. I live within an hour or so of Minneapolis and was hearing of an entire street outside First Avenue where "Purple Rain" was recorded and filmed being taken over by an impromtu block party blasting his music and attracting fans from all over the Twin Cities. For as almost mythical a figure as he'd become over the years, Minneapolis and St. Paul were always immensely proud to call themselves his home.
I can only hope that whatever comes next, these beloved artists might have the chance to see just how much they truly meant to the world. It's a sad fact that with many of them we wait until _after_ they're no longer with us to show their true impact on us all. I once read a fascinating quote from a celebrated psychic/medium that we often _do_ in fact go to our own funerals, even going so far as to say we even often choose to stand at the head of the casket where we can (hopefully) see how we impact those who loved us and hear their goodbyes.
2024 and still mesmerized by this! Kudos from Brazil!

Drew, I have been a fan of MJ for years, but I have never seen a single soul able to bring his music to life again, until now. The spirit and passion that MJ himself brought to this song lives again through you. You should be proud! Carry on!
Thanks so much Luke.... and you are right, MJ sang from his heart and with a LOT of passion, it's something that can't be faked and when I sang this the day after of his passing I think that had a LOT to do with how it turned out.

That's all about people cover Michael and they might sound good, great or really close but they almost always lack the passion, emotion, depth. You did great I felt the message.
