We RV full time and I didn’t like purchasing the one pound tank so often. Have been using the new 11 pound tank for two months almost daily with my WeberQ. Very convenient to store and use. Bought my WeberQ largely due to your videos. Found a heat shield and cook grill at Thrift Store, works great. Thanks for the tip!

@@TheCorporateCollege Well, if I have all the time and resource to test all the queries I have in life, I wouldn't get much accomplished in the same amount of time. That's why I came online to search for test results performed by people who enjoys doing them (and hopefully compensated well for it). What I'm trying to say is although I appreciate the video creator's time in creating this video, his tests are statistically insignificant when he's only testing a setting in the middle. What I don't understand is the purpose of your comment; it's neither constructive or informative. For others who is equally as curious as I am, I saved some time in calculating the theoretical maximum usage time per 1 lb bottle. Each 1LB bottle (assuming has exactly 1 LB of propane) has theoretical value of 21591 BTU. Assuming q1200 indeed burns exactly 8500 BTU/hour at maximum setting. It should in theory last around 2 and a half hours. Obviously this is all on paper (and i don't know the propane usage at lowest setting) which is why I searched for videos like this to answer my question. P.S. Obviously, I know most people are content with the information that was presented. However, coming from a scientific background, the way an experiment is designed means a lot to me. If it was designed and executed improperly, the information presented might be false or misleading. What I pointed out is in fact just the biggest blatant gap in the experiment design; there are other gaps that stood out to me too. I know youtube isn't a peer reviewed source of knowledge which is why I overlooked everything else and kept my original comment simple and sweet.
The 1lb tanks just make it so convenient, even if dont camp or take this thing out. I use this as my main grill and love the quick swap of the 1lb tanks. Toss n go. I always keep a spare on hand. Once you get used to the way this cooks its a good little grill for 3-4 people easy.

Nice video. I have the exact same Weber grill, having owned and used mine for seven years. It does light every time! 🔥I always preheat for six to seven minutes on the highest heat setting to disinfect the grill surface, and then crank it all the way down to the lowest setting for grilling burgers, brats and hot dogs. My compliments to the chef here on your indirect grilling and smoking method! Thanks for the tip. I would ballpark my grill to use one full camping gas canister at 3 hours on average. Question is: how to properly dispose of these gas canisters?
This is hard to believe. I guess most tanks are losing gas over time due to small leaks, and people probably don't realize what the potential is if they keep a cap seal on the tank to prevent such leaks.

Medium heat on a Weber Q runs about 400 degrees F. I really would have no idea how long a canister would last on a smoker. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Sorry I missed this comment. You just have to look around for a roasting rack. Maybe try one from a toaster oven. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend.
If the Q is in one stationary place, then yes you can. But if you're putting it into your car to take it somewhere, disconnect the tank. You don't want to bump the gas knob on.
@@GallaghersGrub the one gallon tank is a bit hard to find and sometimes more expensive than the 5 ( 20 pounder) gallon tanks. But they are really nice to have on some occasions.
You can leave it attached. But if you're transporting your Q, you should take it off, because it's very easy to accidentally turn the gas knob on, and you'll lose all your gas.
I always keep the little black cap and replace it when storing the canister. I've had no issues with leaking gas. That said, if you leave it plugged in and put it in storage, you may accidentally turn on the gas and find an empty tank.
Got a Q1200 couple years ago thanks to your videos. Thanks! Have had fun trying some of your recipes as well as general cooking. Was wondering when you'd start releasing new videos :) Ironically I've been having problems with using 15lb tank with adapter hoses. The flow of propane keeps stopping and flame goes out. I've googled the problem and something to do with increased pressure of large tank versus small one. Tried all the fixes, worked for a while, but now won't ignite at all. Just using regular propane tanks now. Have you had any problems? I see you always use large tanks. Thanks for any info... keep up the good work!
I've used many larger 15 and 20 lb tanks as well as the small tanks and have never had an issue. Unfortunately, your grill may have some defect, but I'm not certain. Thanks for watching!
There's a safety valve/diaphragm that senses high flows of gas just as the gas leaves the hose and enters the grill. It triggers, and the flow is greatly reduced, if you just crank the tank valve open. Try to turn it about 1/8 turn per 4 seconds until the first turn is over, it should cure the problem (this takes patience). The diaphragms age and get stiff, which makes them more sensitive. If you turn the tank valve slowly, the safety system does not activate. For City Escape Griller - pictures of where you set the heat control would have made this video better. Also, if you put a hand behind your phone, the lens will focus there.
You said you are using the bigger gas tank than the 1lb. How do you use it? Do you have an adapter? What is it? I just wanna have big tank and forget about the gas problem.
City Escape Griller: Thanks for the informative video. If I placed a small 2 quart cast iron Dutch Oven on the Weber Q would it fry fish or would I be better off getting a small burner designed for frying? Also do you think the 1 pound tank would fry fish for one or two people 2 or 3 times during a 2 night camping trip? Trying to keep it simple, compact but still practical. Thank You
This has happened to me several times. Occasionally, the threads on the tank may be stripped a little bit. It will usually attach, but it may take a few minutes of really pushing to get it on. The Coleman brand tanks tend to have better threading.
It would be interesting to find out if a smaller oven would last longer. Its a bit frustrating that you only got a bit less than 4 hours of this. If someone needed to depend on this daily then they'd basically be using up a lot of propane all the time.
3 hours and 45 minutes on medium heat. You’re welcome.

11-lb. What country? I think here in the U.S. we mostly have 15 and 20-lb tanks. Cheers Terry!
@@GallaghersGrub the one gallon tank is a bit hard to find and sometimes more expensive than the 5 ( 20 pounder) gallon tanks. But they are really nice to have on some occasions.
So do I just leave this little tank connected to my grill when it’s not in use? Thanks for the video!
You can leave it attached. But if you're transporting your Q, you should take it off, because it's very easy to accidentally turn the gas knob on, and you'll lose all your gas.
Love my Q2000 kickass grill
I was curious too,thanks.
You bet.
Love your channel by the way and bought my Weber Q because of it. Looking for a roasting rack.
Terry Barnhart I use the rack out of my toaster oven. Works great!
Weber doesn't make the rack or shield available for the U.S. market anymore. So yeah, you've got to find an alternate. Cheers Terry!
I have one of these cans from 1995 I never used.
Wonder if it will still work
Hmm. Be careful.
Venison for supper? Nice!
Thank you for the video!
Right on Juan. Thanks for watching.
SKX on an olive Nato strap. Nice
The perfect watch for grilling. Cheers Wil!
That helped me a lot. Thank you.
Glad it helped! Thanks for stopping by the channel.
Hello, thanks for the awesome videos. Please tell us which Q you are using at any given time...3000, 2000, or 1000 series.
I use the Q1200. It's a great portable grill Tresa.
The BIGGER question is; once the canister is punctured for use, but, it is only used for 10-20 minutes, does the propane leak out?
I always keep the little black cap and replace it when storing the canister. I've had no issues with leaking gas. That said, if you leave it plugged in and put it in storage, you may accidentally turn on the gas and find an empty tank.
Thank you !
Thank you!
I'm interested in a camping grill. Can you unscrew the tank without losing the propane? Do I leave the tank on the grill until it's empty?
Yes, you should unscrew the tank, when transporting. It will not lose its gas. If not, you can accidentally bump the knob and turn the gas on.
Got a Q1200 couple years ago thanks to your videos. Thanks! Have had fun trying some of your recipes as well as general cooking. Was wondering when you'd start releasing new videos :)
Ironically I've been having problems with using 15lb tank with adapter hoses.
If you’re in the U.S, you can buy an adapter hose at Home Depot or Lowe’s for about $20-$25.
Thank You
I would take 2 tanks
Can someone till why my Benzomatic canister will not connect or thread to my Weber grill?
This has happened to me several times. Occasionally, the threads on the tank may be stripped a little bit. It will usually attach, but it may take a few minutes of really pushing to get it on. The Coleman brand tanks tend to have better threading.
@@GallaghersGrub thank uou
i converted it to a 10 lb tank and couldn"t be happier! But its good to know about how long they last!
Thanks for watching, Kevin.
Thank you S
You're very welcome. Cheers!
Great video!
Thanks ULTron!
It would be interesting to find out if a smaller oven would last longer.
Its a bit frustrating that you only got a bit less than 4 hours of this. If someone needed to depend on this daily then they'd basically be using up a lot of propane all the time.
Using these on the regular would be expensive. I definitely recommend the bigger tanks with the adapter hose.
for cook in the balcony better to use this little shit or to connect a big one?
