Ben P Scott wow. this kind of thing will never happen to me. their work is available whenever i feel like hearing it. there goes 6 years of their break-up and i didn't even noticed...till i feel the need to hear some of their songs. ah, like this version better than the other with liam singing. that one sounds to "sugary" for my taste.
This song always make me teary-eyed esp the lines “cause all of the stars are fading away, just try not to worry you’ll see them someday”. It just made me think of them when the band broke up but now it’s 2024 and we’ll be seeing them again in 2025.
I'm loathe to admit it, because I'm a Noel guy (loving Oasis of course means loving both, but I always dug the songs he'd take lead on, his hilarious interviews, his instinctive understanding of how rock and roll can simultaneously be the most important thing in the world and completely idiotic), but...as much as i love the fact that these demos are out there, most of them serve as a reminder of why LG was needed in the first place. Just as Beady Eye wasn't bad, just boring, lacking 'je ne sais quoi'...well, so it goes on the other side. I'd kill for a Liam take on "What A Life".
Although, bonus points for the fact that he was pushing the top of his range here, and didn't tune his guitar down a half-step, or summat...you even hear it crack towards the end. Does it give it some genuine emotion, whereas "Heathen Chemistry"s is a bit overblown (a mistake they stopped making starting with the next record)
Easily my favourite Oasis recording. Just something about it eschews that perfect melancholy of Oasis that burrows deep into me. Something sad but still... uplifting about Noel's music and its never more true than when he's singing with an acoustic guitar in his hand. Love it more than most things.

this version does rock!... as much as the Liam sang album recording is brilliant.... the thing is Noel is capable of singing this like this live, where as Liam not so much!... which is what gives this version alot more versatility.
Really like both versions, the album version is superb, this slow Noel acoustic one is excellent. Still like their version on CD-UK despite the organ messing up late on.
I agree with that. One of the reasons Oasis took off was Liam's amazing (though unconventional) voice and Noel's songwriting. I just think that caling Noel a boring or average is singer is a bit too much, I really enjoy his singing.
omg! oasis demos are amazing! they should release a cd with demos, now that noels gone, they can made some money with that and left usthe fans very very happy haha, and the ones that are sang by noel ara brilliant!
Hahaha, without jagger and Richards....without Lennon and McCartney....without cobain and grohl....What's your point? Merely stating the bleeding obvious ?
For me the guitar in this is miles ahead of the studio version. So much more dark and melancholy and plodding. It just captures me. Wish I could figure it out, but I think its actually 2 guitars in some parts. To get the same effect I have to contort my hands into some strange mutant chords. heh, love Noel man. An honest soul in his music. Funny how a guy with so much raw attitude makes such lovely and ultimately touching music.

This may be the first friendly internet exchange between different nationalities ever on UA-cam. Cheers guys!
I know Liam sang Noel's songs. What I am saying is that if Liam was not there to sing Noel's songs, Oasis would never have taken off, as Noel's voice would not have got recognition at the time.
Noel is excellent! He really is! but please...please!! do not compare his voice agains Liam's, Noel has no chance!!!! If any doubt rounds over there, please thinks about Noel singing Cigarettes and Alcohol....Eyeball Tickler...Roll It Over...(hope you know the last 2) Regards
As the time passes by, Noel's vocal abiltiy is getting better and better while Liam's voice is going down. In my opinion Liam on his prime time was the best sounded singer ever. He sounded like a nightingale. Although his voice is still there, he blunted mostly of his voice with alcohol and cigarettes. He can still sing outstanding when he desires though, but he doesn't know the technique. That's why right now Noel is ten times better than Liam in any category about music.
Dear Bear...i got too many reasons to refuse what ure saying..but i will only say a pair of them: One: Liam was named the best Frontman of the whole UK music of the last 30 years (Voted by the people, NME Magazine), above Lennon, Jagger, Freddy Mercury and other monsters. He is not better or worst rocker. He is rock. Other?: Noel includes lots of Oasis songs in his nghfb shows, tons! why?...ask him, but i think that he do not reach the people with the releases. Liam only played his own creations and 2 or 3 Oasis songs in his shows. Other?: Why dyou think the whole band were loyal to Liam after the Oasis breakout.....?
Most of the things you say might be correct. Liam is the best frontman i've ever witnessed. Noel always say that he wanted to leave the group for his solo career. After all, everything about Oasis was his. Songs, lyrics, compositions... Everything! Later he admitted that he wished he would leave the Oasis before Morning Glory, make that a solo album and enjoy all the money. It's his songs man, of course he will sing and enjoy every single of them. About Andy and Gem, why would they leave Liam? He's an amazing singer with huge talent although his voice is collapsing. Right now they are a mediocre rockers with pockets full of cash. Anyways, both of them are not as good without each other. I hope we can see reunion in Glastonbury or another festival.
Do you really think that a person who "lived in his own world" and didn't give people/situations a chance could write songs that millions around the planet could find identify with, songs that fit almost perfectly into the lives of so many different people.
I think you are forgetting that Liam sang the songs Noel wrote! Noel's album is great and so is his singing, seeing as he is that guy that wrote 90% of oasis's songs anything that he writes is usually brilliant. Liam's singing up to the 90s was amazing but he cant sing half as well as he used to. Noel is a great songwriter and a good singer...Liam WAS a great singer
@u1009 He defines how I look at music and his music litters my memories of childhood with familiarity. I often associate feelings and times in my life with Oasis songs and the feelings they give me when I listen to them. Oasis to me is the pinnacle of what 'some stupid song' can mean to a person. Pure soul man. Pure humanity. Makes me wanna cry my little heart out.
I'm not having all this 'BEST version' rubbish, Liam's version of this is unbelievable and one of Oasis' best songs. Unfortunately, Noel hasn't got a special voice, good, but not special, especially compared to his brother, who had the best rock voice of a generation. I think Noel's solo work back this up, his latest album is the definition of average. Would have been a top album with Liam's voice.
I konw your comment is old, but looking back now, Noel keeps being creative and never lost his voice compared to Liam who completely lost and ruined it over time.
Noel has the better voice and wrote the songs end of, Liam was a great singer and better than noel for a little while, but he lost it and I hate seeing people putting oh Liam could of sung that song better when realistically he wouldn't noels the better singer, better ranger, more talented overall just better so just be quiet when bringing up noel as his solo stuff is better than a lot of oasis stuff and all of liams stuff full stop Noel > Liam He is the reason oasis worked he's arguably the best songwriter ever I think, one of the best for melodies aswell anyway sorry for ranting its just really frustrating seeing people saying noel ain't special or ain't shit he is, he's the best musician for songs not for ability
No chance, doesn't come close to Elvis, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Buddy Holly, George Harrison Eddie Cochran, and thousands more, maybe a bit better than Yoko 😂
Well I'm Manchester born and bred, alot of Oasis' terminology will be hard for Americans to understand, because that type of language is just not used in the U.S, spend a night on the town in Manchester, you'll see what I mean. ;)
Check out the Warchild version of Fade Away, it actually sounds decent. As for this song, absolutely awesome and makes me think it should have been on the album.
Ive never preferred any song noel covered of liam and still liams version is probably one of the best songs to ever exist, that being said i dont hate this
@arcticmonkeysseven That is a synthesized bagpipe. Later, it uses a synthesized accordian (or a harmonichord). Pretty cool sounding, isn't it? See, the bagpipe in the backgroudn is only playing 1 note. All bagpipes play a low D note, no matter what other notes are playing. They just pushed it up to an E for the sake of the song. This causes bagpipes to be an unworthy instrument: it will always play an out of key note. However Oasis synthesised the perfect note for this song.
Noel wrote 95% of oasis so he obviously recorded the vocals for every track
Differences is Liam's voice made them not noels!
Noel who? Oasis only got into top creative gear after the birth of Little James.
"Live for your toys even though they make noise," - Liam Gallagher
Very similar to Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains).
@@danguitarman6 that makes me laugh so hard😁😂
Noels demos were a great vocal guide for Liam 👍🤪
Is it wrong that I'm loving these demos more than the songs themselves? I can't help it!
The night Oasis broke up was the only time i have ever cried over a band splitting up. And this is just one of the many reasons why.
Ben P Scott stop being a little bitch...it's just a band
***** The fuck are you on about mate?
I cried the night Tupac died.....but it was because I was a baby and needed to be burped
Ben P Scott wow. this kind of thing will never happen to me.

PeeJay Torres oasis was a generation not a band
The only man that knows what that song truly means.

How can such a simple arrangement be so powerful?
Noel wrote every big hit Oasis ever had without him there wouldn't have been an Oasis
ya and without liam?
Flip .d Switch Both of them combined man. There wouldn't have been Oasis without Liam OR Noel.
tru, its Liam and Noel. Noel and Liam.
DearBear Totally agree. I always preferred the Noel stuff, but without Liam as well.....forget it.
+Papa Shenanaigans Oasis without Liam =NGHFB. Oasis without Noel = Beady Eye *vomits*
This is surprisingly psychedelic!!
Yeah, I really like this version
No it’s not.
"May your smile shine on....."
this is almost eery when you listen to it through headphones, close your eyes and imagine being in the studio....amazing.
this version is a masterpiece just like the single but this version is deeper a more emotional version its got soul .....
This is like the poundshop version of the final release… you know… a demo…
The best there was, the best there is, and the best there EVER will be!

IMO Noel had more of the artist vocal and Liam had the rock voice. They both knew their strength and that was what made them great.
