- To prevent a motorcycle engine from overheating, you will need to keep up with basic maintenance of the motorcycle such as regular oil changes and having proper coolant levels (for water cooled motorcycles). Make sure the idle screw on the carburetor is at a decent spot so the motorcycle does not maintain a high idle.

Sir I am using shell fully synthetic 15w50 in my discover 125st bike giving excellent performance now I run my bike more than 31000km my engine piston rings valves all are in perfect condition at present it still gives 55 plus km/liter of average and achieve top speed 110km/hrs.you see this is the use of good engine oil I get .

Ek bahut hi important cheez baaki reh gayi, jo 99% log bhool jaate hai. Oil Sump!
Oil sump hamesha saaf hona chahiye. Waise toh upar se saaf hota hai lekin niche se ganda hone ke wajah se oil sump me pehle jaisi cooling nahi ho paati aur oil sump ka temperature increase ho jata hai, jisse oil pressure pehle se thoda kum ho jata hai, isi se starting ke 20-30 min hi bike sahi chalti hai, uske baad mazaa nahi aata.
Ek baar oil sump ka bottom part bhi clean karwa lena chahiye, phir definetely difference feel hoga.

Recently I serviced my Pulsar 200CC 2007 model, I am facing issue of Engine Heat. I changed oil and my mechanic fill Total 10/40 oil in engine. But when I was ride 3-5km then engine heat and not cool more than 5-7 hours. Also I ask mechanic but he said you ride 5km or 100km it's heating but not issue for engine. Can you give me the solution.

Bhai never ever use oil from mechanic while doing oil change coz discover needs 1 liter oil of 20W50 grade. But the mechanics have 900ml bottle (local plane base oil) of 20w40 .
I realised this late and my discover 125 used to heat a lot always and was eating oil n packing and Got Seized once . There I got 20w50 1 liter this time n i can feel the difference very much. Runs like new now

Sir Maine aaj pulsar 125 bs6 carborator varient wala bike ka servicing karwaya tha...! Meine jaha servicing kar waya waha se mujhe mere engine ke liye 20w50 motul 3100 gold series ka engine oil dala gya but mein apne bike mein 10w30 bajaj original hi use karta tha after servicing meri bike mein heating problem hona mehsus hua mujhe just like engine normal ride mein jaldi garam ho rhi hai or heat mujhe pairo mein mehsus ho rahi hai or engine jaldi thanda bhi nahi ho rha hai, pehle bike meri 30 minutes mein cool down ho jaati thi but aaj mujhe aaisa laga jaise meri bike aaj waisa performance bhi nhi de rhi jaisa pehle deti thi or engine thanda hone mein bhi 2 hours ka time lag rha hai kya karoo..!!plz reply

CAN I USED 15W 40 INSTEAD OF 10W 30
No bro if your vehicle's recommended engine oil is 10w30 you can use 10w40 never use 15w40.
Reason: 10w means your area minimum temperature is 10degree of celcius not below 4-5degree of coldness. Hence recommended 10w w stands for winter whereas 30 implies when engine is hot then the oil is maintain its viscosity nicely if your engine temperature even goes to 40degree it should work well in that condition. So for better performance you can opt for 10w40 in place of 10w30 but never try 15w40 . it may damage your engine.
Its a great knowledgeable lesson i am telling you believe me this is the real fact. Grasp the knowledge where you get nobody tell you this fact..
15w means where the minimum temperature is 15degree or it may decrease up to 12-13degree then you use 15w engine oil. Got it bro.

If your running KMs are more then you must change engine oil after every 2500-3000km. Always prefer synthetic oil and oil filter.
