Haven’t played any new but I definitely have been replaying games that I haven’t played in years. But I definitely look forward to seeing more new games coming in 2024.
I played persona 5 for the first time too last year, and it also took me 100 hours to beat. I have to say, despite the high expectations it blew me away! So much content, awesome story and gameplay and that soundtrack is S tier. Easily one of the best JRPGs of all time
Played it on game pass pc and even did 100%, the game was so good that I bought it in winter sale for steam and will do 100% again LuL, only don't know if I do it before or after playing baldurs gate 3
P5R is also my favourite game I played last year, genuinely life changing game for me. I also am not typically a fan of JRPGs like yourself, as soon as you said "longest game I've ever completed" somehow I knew you were going to say it lol
Great selection of games :D I've seen a lot of people refer to survivor-likes like Brotato as "bullet heaven" games, because you have a similar amount of projectiles on the screen as in "bullet hell" games, but they're not hurting you, so in that regard the opposite. But there is no wide consensus yet on what to name that subgenre, vampire survivor-like or just survivor-like is also often used.
Ahhh Metroid Prime I still remember getting the Phazon armor as a little kid when I first got my Gamecube. The shock and disgust when they sent me back to the Gravity Suit, ill never forget it xD
I was playing Baldur's Gate 3 like crazy this year. I got 600+ hours on it and i still havent beat it because i kept starting new runs lmfao. It took over everything for a few months and i genuinely couldn't play anything else ☠️ But now I'm waiting for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to release, I was DEEP into Yakuza for about 2 years (at that point my whole family knew about my love for it since i wouldn't shut up about it..) and I still love it now. I saved up some money and am ready to buy the new game this month! Haven't finished the video but you have great taste from what I've seen :)
I’ve finished 5 runs so far and have 550 hours total! Just got Divinity 2, apparently it’s the exact same thing, just a new setting and a bit older. Divinity’s tactician is like BG3’s honor mode (minus the single save) so I’m super excited for that. I loooooved BG3 honor mode, but the single save was annoying. Made it so you couldn’t save at a boss to refight them later for fun. Also there’s a map editor in divinity 2!!!! Make your own campaigns! I’m praying something like that ends up in BG3! I feel there’s easily enough enemy types to make our own campaigns.
Divinity is less accessible. I recommend two characters with lone wolf over a full party of four. Get speak with animals. Use a walkthrough, or at the very least a crafting guide. Nails plus any pair of footwear=No slip on ice. Tis necessary. @wr5488
I really do hope you play all the yakuza games. Personally i have completed every single one besides some of the spinoffs and lord are the stories great. I also look up to you making a yskuza-themed viedo!
I always do a challenge run in pikmin games. Only (mostly) blues and yellows, no grabbing boss corpses, only one of each flower per day. Always play like this, not an issue. Come Pikmin 4 though… I needed to restart my game twice at the final boss! He killed all my Pikmin twice! It was insane! Even the final bosses of 1 and 3 didn’t kill that many. I think he got 700 by himself. My third run I finally got him but over 1200 Pikmin died in that final cave. And not just him but the other bosses in the final cave were tough too. Lost a lot to the emperor and empress.
@@constantspider Oatchi-less is doable! I think theres videos of people doing it. I tried doing Moss-less during Olimar's story but theres one treasure I couldnt reach near the beady long legs. I like using Oatchi but I make sure hes not fully upgraded with attacks or hp. I stop at 2nd level. Carry weight and movement and all that I max though. My first run I was DEVASTATED when I saw the 1000 pound treasure. I didnt use purples at all so I knew I wouldnt be able to farm enough within my self imposed time limit (35 days, 50 counting Olimar story/challenge cave/night missions). SO I wasnt suuuuper bummed when the final cave ragdolled me. Second time though I knew it was coming and thought I was over prepared... but lo and behold damn dog has several phases. Final cave is so hard! Its like Hole of Heroes from 2 but better with WAY harder bosses. I love it.
I know youre probably not reading old comments but your opinions of Tears of the Kingdom are spot on. The new mechanics felt clunky and unintuitive and magnified what were only minor issues in Breath of the Wild. Also this is just me but I found the central concept of returning to BotW's world and essential gameplay to be somewhat disappointing. Zelda is a series known for its constant reinvention and creativity. TotK felt like the series treading water, a sequel to a 7 year old game that fixes none of the problems of the original. It seemed more like an expansion pack
Your Switch Classic Games video is one of the greatest of all time. I know it’s maybe a little basic for your tastes to repeat it, but maybe you could give it the Mattastic extremist treatment (especially if that means 1hr40 of Switch solitaire…)
I highly recommend FF16 for the main story alone. The most modernized game in the series 100%, but the main boss fights combined with the MUSIC (literally beat HiFi Rush for best music) is just 🤯 The boss fights are an absolutely peak spectacle, my jaw was on the floor during all of them lmfao
Matt staying based with Pikmin 4. Also Danganronpa V3 is the only Danganronpa game I still love after leaving my Dangan phase. I adore how it lampshades just how messed up the series concept actually is

Signalis is one of my favorite game I've ever played. I Do agree that the inventory system is very annoying due to the "rule of 6" the story is establishing, for me I don't have any problem with it since I drilled most of my ammos to kick down the enemies. Fortunately during the new patch they made a option to modify your Inventory capacity for people who find the Inventory too restrictive. I just finished DRV3, I didn't expect to find it here lol It's so stylized compared to the other two games, and complex plot twist is right lol, I _still_ don't understand some of it
I think the weapons breaking in botw and totk is a great feature because it forced me to use new weapons all the time. I agree they should up the amount of hits weapons can take though, especially the spring loaded hammer which is way too fun to use but breaks so quick. I prefer botw just because of my experience with playing it for the first time. It felt magical. Also, you should fuse weapons with something as soon as you find them so you dont have to do it in battle.

Haha Holy shit, this is the first time someone has had (what I believe) is the correct opinion on Z:TOTK!! Such a step backwards in terms of quality, absolute crazy decision making by Nintendo. The button economy and contextual pressing is so dense, I feel like trying to swap weapons is playing "Keep talk and nobody explodes", endless combo of button pressing just to find a sword.
And don't even get me started on scrolling an entire menu just to make a fire arrow 😑
Brother you can sort your weapons for easier access... you can't say a game is bad if your main complaint is literally user error. Such an insane take
@froogality Nah he's right. Been a Zelda fan for years and took was a letdown.
Go watch BanditGames' TOTK rant. He's another UA-cam who actually pointed out the many flaws of the game.
Man The Quarry absolutely sucked and was so disappointing. I also only got a few hours in, probably about 5 or 6, and had to turn it off and sold it. There's no point going back to it Matt, you'll just be wasting your time. I loved Until Dawn but seems Supermassive haven't been able to reach that high again. Maybe it was a fluke.
Have you played the Witcher 3? I’m currently nearing the end of my first playthrough and it’s honestly one of the best games I’ve played
I played a few hours of it a few years ago and it didn’t really keep my attention. I might try it again in the future, though!
