The first tree of the day was a runner....

  • It's not a fun way to start the day ( chasing a tree over 150 feet down the hill ) just to buck a couple logs off. I thought it would stick behind an old growth stump....but it somehow managed to slide past it and continue down the hill.

It's funny how video doesn't really do a good job of showing perspective, such as the steepness of the hill. Watching the video, you get the idea that the side of the hill is steep. It wasn't until you went around to the other side of the stump and you could see how high the cut was off the ground (vs close to the grund on the other) that I could tell that was a very steep hill. When the tree hit the ground and kept on running, Yikes. That really showed how steep that was. Those trees don't like to move that much, with all the stumps/limbs around to slow them down. Thanks for sharing. I always love seeing the beauty of the countryside up your way.

Your right. The camera does not show steepness very well for some reason. Anyways, Im glad your enjoying the videos.

'mornin' Dan. I don't know what cam you use for these vids, but, on a 4K Ultra screen, they're absolutely perfect--very crisp detail, excellent sound and color. Have a gr8 weekend.

Thanks...That one was filmed with the GO Pro Hero 9. I have found that the go pros seem to work the best for this kind of filming.

This one might run a bit, like clear to the Pacific Ocean. 🙂 Be sure to take plenty of gas with you.🙂

Yes....that one definitely did not want to stop! The bigger Doug Firs have slick bark, combine that with steep and wet....and it gets pretty hard to get them to stick!

No, this is up on the Big Lagoon end of things. We finished the 1640 job at the end of January

We pretty much have the 1640 all wrapped up. Very nice trees in that one 👍

Yes they do, but only sometimes. That generally happens more in the summer months.
