Probably a little late to give you advice but switch on Direction Lock in the Insta360 software under the very top right icon. Means the view will lock on regardless of you turning corners. Great video and very informative.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Dave, I’m just getting into videoing and editing my rides and am loving it almost as much as riding 😂looks like I have finally found the answer to the days when I can’t get out on the bike 👍 Thank’s again Dave
Not entirely sure why I'm still watching as I have windows and Adobe. I do love that the editing process itself can be quite creative and enjoyable (without time pressures)
Interesting to see how you edit your videos. I edit a bit different, and what is so fun with editing is that there are so many ways to edit videos. A tip regarding LUTs, I make my own in Affinity Photo (cheap Photoshop alternative) and from there it is easier to color match clips from different camera brands.
Thanks Dave, that was very informative and great content. I just watched this video taking notes while my wife watched the live coronation here in Tasmania Aust.
Master class from the master moto vlogger! Will excuse the Apple choice as your production is so good😂. I use Corel Video Studio Ultimate for my amateur trip videos . Cannot agree more, big screens are a must. Cheers Dave.
49 minutes well spent! brilliant. Question: from a newbie. Working on iMovie, can't figure out how to take files from 2 separate cameras, filming the same even from different angles, and making the final vid switch back and forth. I guess one camera for b-roll. I'm sure there are tutorials on that. Just a thought for a future vid maybe? I was actually at my kids 'rock show', recording him on the drums. 1 camera (GoPro) recording the wide view, and another camera moving about, different angles, zooming in, etc. I guess the GoPro was the main camera and sound in this instance. again, maybe a thought for a future vid, not so easy to answer here in a sentence or two. Thanks for the great vid.
It was interesting to see how you piece everything together Dave but it’s still all above my head, My 11 year old twins were editing a video for a school project on the iPad with iMovie and I was left scratching my head watching them 🤦🏻♂️🤣
Thanks for answering my questions.. You where spot on with my question on grainy footage from the 360 camera. I have since learned that zooming is a disaster on overcast days.. As you say sunny day's let you get a sharper footage.. I will look into epidemic sound... We where down in Bantry last weekend and rode up too Galway via WaW.. Almost 400 gig of footage to sift through is a nightmare.. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Great video Dave, appreciate you taking the time to share some of your professional knowledge and skills.... must be a bit weird though recording a video about recording a video and editing a video about editing a video.... #rabbithole
Great video Dave 👍 Thanks for answering my question, unfortunately that 'one lens' option isn't available on my Insta One RS, only the X series I think 😫 P.S. To avoid the Insta camera angle moving around, turn on Direction Lock in the clip options, it will lock the viewing angle so you only need to set one keyframe & then export. Unfortunately you can't set this as the default, you need to turn it on for every 360 clip you edit.
Hi Ron, I still use the Osmo action 3 and will do always. I’m trying to remember which vid I used the GoPro on? The reason was I dropped my Osmo and snapped the Mic receiver off the side. All fixed now though and I sold my last ever GoPro last week.🤗🎥
Great vid Dave great to keep going back to use as reference vid👍 one question can you download the set card straight from the camera by plugging a external drive? Keep up the great vids 👍
Great videos as usual Dave and thanks for the tips …..really given me to kick up the ass to start trying to edit videos once again. Loads of videos recorded, but stuck in analysis/paralysis 😂😂 after managing to transfer original files into the computer ( MacBook / FCP) by thinking that would be the best option to edit them there, but I now realise I should have left them on the external SSD. How do you get those original files back on to the SSD please ?? Cheers. T
Just ‘select all’ from your drop-down menu and drag them back to your external SSD window. Should take only one action and leave them copying back to the SSD.
Another quick question Dave! You mentioned you record your audio in camera on the OA3. How do you get around the horrible clipping of audio from the OA3?
Great Vid as always Dave, only one Question, How on Gods green earth have you still got all your hair, I've been at this editing for a couple of months and I'm already as bald as A cote.. 😆 As always stay safe 👍
When you talk about rendering ...I rendered a wall in my kitchen recently, is that the same thing...? 😅😅...but seriously Dave, despite the fact I have literally no idea what you are talking about i enjoyed your video!! 👍👍💚
Great masterclass video, really enjoyed it. Just a thought for Joshi’s question. I started off with Windows Video Editor, then went to “Openshot” free software, then progressed to the free version of Davinci Reolve 18. There are numerous tutorials starting at beginner level, and once it clicks with you (as it is quite daunting when you first open it up), it is so easy to produce quite respectable videos, at least I am happy with mine. Oh, and I just use a SD card reader plugged into the pc/laptop to transfer the files from the SD card to the computer. Quick question Dave ; is there any way of turning off the DJI LRF files within the camera ? I understand they are there for playback in the camera, but they do take up room in the card. Cheers
Do you have the Mac Studio 512GB Dave? If so, have you felt that the storage is limiting? Not so much for your editing, as you don’t import the footage, a very wise move. Have you found that 512GB enough for general use?
Hi Dave - I’m a new user to the action 3 (not to mention a new rider at 68). Recently installed a Cardo communication system into my helmet. Any way I can use the Cardo mic for the audio on my action 3?? Suggestions on THIS would be greatly appreciated. Thx
Hi, yes you can but you need to buy a splitter cable from Amazon to then feed an input to your camera. There are definitely vids about this on UA-cam as I’ve been asked quite a bit about this. Teapot One has talked about this I believe so maybe worth scrolling through his vids. I’ll be buying a Cardo I think later in the year so will explore this. Cheers 👌🏍🎥
Dave, I am not a vlogger or any kind of film maker so I was prepared to stop watching after a couple of minutes into the video, fifty minutes later I was disappointed when your presentation came to an end. I cannot think of many presenters who can give such a concise and interesting insight into the black art world of editing, very impressive … But then right at the end you ruined it by saying ‘over and out’, now this might have been acceptable in Z Cars all those years ago but as a pilot I would be hauled into the chief instructors office for retraining for such an utterance. 😂 Seriously though great video and looking forward to many more. Andy.

Great tutorial Dave, really straightforward and informative , cheers 👍🏻
That 360 editing software was very interesting. I've been very curious as to how you do that. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent Dave, as a relative novice I need all the help I can get😉
Great vid thanks, really enjoying making vids for UA-cam and mates.

Thanks mate. Yes I’ve tried that lock direction in my software but it still drifts and takes so much longer to render. Maybe just me??🥴🤔
Great tutorial, Just wondered which camera you are using now as I saw the video of you posting your old Go pro., Thanks again great videos

Hi mate, no I’m afraid you need the interface like a computer.
@@WheelieGoodTV thanks Dave keep up the great vids I heard you going to the abr festival?
@@Themotograndpa yes, I’m really looking forward to it. 👌🏍
@@WheelieGoodTV are you speaking there Dave ?

I wind all the gains down to -12. That works for me anyway.

DaVinci Resolve free software works for most of the needs for making video and uploading to you tube .
Great masterclass video, really enjoyed it.

There’s no way of turning them off as they’re needed to ‘wrap’ the file. They’re tiny files though so they don’t take up hardly any space.
@@WheelieGoodTV ahh, ok, thank you. Really appreciate all the effort you put into these vids. I know how much it takes. Thank you.

Hi Len, yes as long as you keep all your footage external then 512gb is more than enough for me. It is such a quick system it’s unreal!
