On the apparatus, do two wheels have to be tied together? If not then have 2 poles horizontal for the axles and 2 vertical bars placed on top to hold the load. Wheels on each corner. The vertical bars will prevent the wheels going to far inwards and flopping over, just have to use something to prevent the wheels falling outwards. Place the load about 3/4 of the way back in order to lift the front up and adjust where you want to go. Then you are able to have people pushing on the axle poles as well as people pulling with the ropes. Not sure what to do with the 5th pole
Ya when I saw this video long ago, I could imagine this would be one of the toughest for me imo if I ever went thru selection. How far do u have to haul that thing? I’m pretty sure this event is to see if u quit and how u interact with your teammates. This is probably where all the good idea fairies come out
@@FMD023 in the video they say 6 mi/10k. We had to carry the Sandman the same and it almost broke me. The cadre took over because we were screwing up. It was one of the most painful days of my life. Every guy has one event that almost does him in. Guys who say they didn’t have one are liars or physical freaks.
For me, it's basic logic. Yes, I'd like to be a leader but I know it's not always for the best. For example, say I have 10 points in leadership and 10 in engineering or whatever. And the other guy has 9- in leadership. And everyone needs to fill a role. Even if I were a better leader, if there's a role that needs to filled, say engineering, and I seek leadership, that role will be filled by some guy with worse skill than mine, hurting the efficiency of that position. So even though leadership might be at 10, but engineering will be horrible, overall hurting the team. Sometimes you have to know your place not out of submission but out necessity. I'd rather my team succeed or at least survive than be leader and fail.
I think the part that would suck the most for me is the team one where they give u two wheels and poles to make the thing work like a wagon. That part definitely looks like it sucks. Even tho it’s with a team a cadre is right there and If u slack off, they call u out on the spot. That factored in with the good idea fairies. 😂
Just don't quit. All this shit here is real life stuff. You really do all of this shit, and the lessons here come back in the CAPSTONE event. Hardest thing in the world about it is leading your peer group. When in charge, be the head. Make the decisions with input, and make them fast.
As per usual, Nato rucks are way too horizontal. Perfect setup to destroy neck, traps, back in general. Nato has got to adopt civvie-style vertical rucks, keeping the weight close to the body. This crap has got to stop.
I had numbness in my thumbs and first two fingers for like six months after. The problem with really tall rucks is trying negotiate really thick vegetation.
Why? Ranger Chuck was a great guy and a Best Ranger competitor, but he quit 1600m from the end of the first event (sandman) of day two. He said it was the hardest thing he’d ever done in his life. I’m not a Ranger, but I made it.
I quit after day 1. I performed during the first 2 weeks but it was all child’s play compared to one day of team week. Was not ready

None of it matters. It all sucks and if you’re not mentally prepared for that you’ll quit

Knot tying skills and a little common sense lol
how heavy are those water jugs?
Yes
1 gallon = 8 lbs
that barrel holds 55 gallons. Take 55 X 8= 440 lbs.
i think they are 5 gallon jugs they can weigh as much as appx 40 lbs
This makes me wish I signed up to the military.
War is coming, they need you
