  • Good tools last for years, but sadly, the grips will get damaged or worn away with use. Instead of wrapping the handles with electrical tape, I'm gunna see if these replacement grips are worth the effort.
The are pretty sweet! They are grippy even with my sweaty hands, they have absolutely no play against the metal, and they cant be mixed up with my coworkers.

Hey do you think this is a good way to keep your tools from walking away?

I ran into the same problem with the can. I made a tube using PVC with a screw top lid and put in four cans of the Plasti-Dip. Problem solved.

Shows the importance of reading instructions.

I'd definitely recommend a couple of dips for those. Glad I could help!

How has it held up? Do you use them enough to know if it is a durable coating?

    • @WorldofHVAC

They are doing really well. It is a little rougher than the original which is nice when your hands get slick. I might do this to the linemans next.

@@WorldofHVAC great to hear. definitely have a few old pairs of linemans and slip-joints that need some love

Plasti-dip never seemed to work for me. Even after fully curing, dirt and fingerprints immediately stick right to it and it all peels off after a few uses.

Well that sucks. Mine had held up well

Is it humid where you live? That might have something to do with it. The very second it dries you can probably apply a ceramic coat or clear coat as a rigid sort of sealing layer I guess? But then I guess you lose the rubbery grippiness

@@ryanle1293 I remember it was summer at the time but I applied it and let it dry in a basement with a dehumidifier so it's hard to say.

What size were the Channelocks you used there? I have the 12” I want to dip but think the tube might be too small!

    • @WorldofHVAC
      @WorldofHVAC  10 місяців тому

Those are 10" channellocks. I dont think the 12" will fit. That sucks

i bet 2 years later you're kicking yourself for cutting off the stock blue rubber from channellock. plastdip is not the same stuff tool maker's use.

No I still like it. Its stuck on there pretty well. Not as coarse as freshly dipped though. It was a fun test at the end of the day

Looks like you ruined a good pair of pliers.

By cutting the grips off? The teeth are still good. Thats what matters

By cutting off better grips then you put on. That looks like crap. That was a pretty new pair you used Sure for a old pair with busted handles it’s be better then nothing. But you cut off good grips to plastic dip it haha

@@Rick-to2rr I've had that pair since 2016. They've just been sitting in my garage. Might as well do something with them
