I think a lot of people try to manipulate The New York Times bestseller list because it's a relatively cheap way to get legacy validation. Because no matter how much they want web 3.0 they also want to be accepted by the old money
Honestly one of the most underrated channels out there. Been following the crypto circus since I used it like one time back in 2017 or something like that to facilitate the purchase of "something" from a Netherlands company. Realized immediately this shit only has value as a vehicle for black market transactions given how awful it is in every way. It was such an awful transaction process only justified by the fact that I really wanted that hard to get "something". You guys have been providing great coverage. Always fun learning more about how right I was from you guys. Keep it up ❤
Always happy to see Molly, that was a very interesting watch. The title of the episode actually made me think it was her book heh. You know what doesn't need a book examining its failures though? CasCoin, it's been a whirlwind success.
I'm currently hiking in a natural reserve in columbia and genuinely can't wait to get to my hostel to watch this episode. Don't know which I prefer between CCC AND Molly White but it's safe to say that I love both
The freedom of pre big tech web was that it was still uncertain if commercial activity would be allowed on it. It was a way for scholars to communicate ideas and amateurs to make weird stuff.
The way that these a16z guys talk about content and online presence and basically the internet as a whole makes me wonder about their mental state. Like… monetization above everything. Community is meaningless unless there’s a buck in it. Only hustling and grift, and everyone is hustling and grifting, even the people who volunteer their time and energy to make the world better. There’s a level of cynicism there about humanity that frankly makes me think they need years of therapy.
Molly is just the best - so many original thoughts on technology that you don’t hear from otters, so much brainpower. The hosts are insightful as well.
You can't get that time back from reading Dixon's book. 🤣 Also Andreessen has talked about needing a cult & weird manifestos as his longstanding investment-confidence scam model. His mentor at Silicon Valley was long term scammer James H. Clark.
C'mon guys - Bob McKenzie went out of his way to give you guys a ton of credit and love in his Easy Money book, and you couldn't even give him a shoutout today.
Thank you Cas for letting me know that I missed an episode on the newest one you guys posted today. Cas shilling his crypto and book this is top performance in a podcast!
This was just, wow. So good. I think it's striking this book has been described as religious, even by its adherents. Give me facts, man. Not the feel-good.
The only use case for Crypto for me is trading the hype cycle nonsense and diverting the profits to tangible assets. It would be good to hear your thoughts on how these BTC ETFs (and BTC Maxi twerking for Larry Fink/BlackRock) are a contradiction to the fundamental thesis of BTC and the problems it was engineered to solve. I was told BTC will absorb any remaining value in the current financial system. The ETFs tell me that BTC is actually being absorbed into the current system, thereby nullifying its value proposition.
If the Wikipedia is a singular thing, how will he explain the AO3 and the whole OTW that runs it? XD A whole organisation protecting rights of the fan works and one of the biggest archives in the internet run completely on voluntary basis and supported entirely by donations.
These clowns are masters of projection. They are doing everything they accuse Chris Dixon of doing. Judging by the view count it looks like the public agrees. I'm sure they are still cool in their little Dungeons and Dragons hangout.
I'm about 10 episodes into my subscription to your channel. 1. You invite sympathetic guests 2. You act like you are very smart. There are entities who want crypto to fail. Do they support you guys? In one episode the high pitched guy openly hopes the Shitoshi is a known criminal. You mock book authors for seemingly writing to narrow audiences. What about you two? Don't you want an audience of good people?
Thought this pod was going to be insightful, but it really just a lot of surface level jabber. The book is less about offering up a solution than it is about putting thoughts to narrative, and providing clear characterization of the movement of the entire ecosystem as a whole. He basically connected the dots and putting names to patterns so people can have some sort of coherent reference as they navigate all that's happening. At minimum, it's something for builders to latch on as they navigate the maelstrom that is startup.
lol, three people who made their entire personality not liking something read most of a book and spent an hour shitting on it. time I just saved you 59min38sec.

Woot! New Episode! And it's a Molly episode!
Yooooo Molly's back!
The 3 of you always deliver such interesting, levelheaded discussions. Thank you

Thanks for all the effort this trio is putting into seeing through all this stuff.
Molly molly molly!
So glad you clarified it was crypto mecha chicken fighting
I was one of the boobs who bought not one, but six hotspots 😅. We all get tricked once and again.
I binge-watched a couple of these and immediately made a $100 donation to Molly. You guys are an awesome combo.
Awesome interview! I think the analogy to a politician flipping a ghostwritten book for earned media attention is spot on
Molly 🥳
Hey, Molly! Love to see her on the show with you guys:)
Molly White 4 president of the internet! Great interview!

If he'd put some Cascoin on that bookmark in the book, wow, we'd have something.
Do you think Chris Dixon expected the value of his book to increase if he bought up all the available copies? He’s cornered the market.
Molly is a fabulous guest! I’m only buying the CasCoin book if it comes with an NFT (preferably a colour-changing portrait of Burrito)
My favorite collab
Molly is just the best - so many original thoughts on technology that you don’t hear from otters, so much brainpower. The hosts are insightful as well.
That's not fair on otters.
Yay, Molly 0xFFF is the best
Can't Miss a Molly 🔥✌️😉

Chris Farley!! 😊

I really think cryptocurrency is a sublime object of ideology in the Slavoj Zizek sense of the term.
You mean that it's an object of... *Nasal inhalation* PuRE IDEOLOGY?
Thank you Cas for letting me know that I missed an episode on the newest one you guys posted today.

This trio in invincible.
Why did Electric Capital buy 1400 copies of Dixon's book? To make it a technical bestseller or to kowtow to a16z? Coffeezilla called you out Chris
Molly don't violate WP:OWN. 😂
read write pwned

Read, write, own really wants to be tech bro Live Laugh Love
My thoughts exactly 😂
@@cinemarie7513 i go into a date's bathroom and see a sign that reads Read, Write, Own in big block san sareph font
Lol. Great job guys! I wanted to see a dressing down of Dixon and my wish hath cometh true.
There talking about web 5 now and it's all about using BTC to pay for content and make passive income using BTC. Anything block chain is a con.
i like to think of you two as my pet hamsters in a cage pumping out content for me. thanks, keep it coming!
I have such a hardcore crush on Molly White
WELL...get in line!

Another clown episode by ideological zealots unable to think outside their echo chamber.

So the book offers a solution. What is it?

13:05 No, IPv6 will fix everything that's wrong with the web. I thought you did research?
