Long-term abusers are the same way with being able to turn it on and off. Ask any victim of domestic violence.. they'll tell you how their abuser would act charming and normal in front of others, but acting like violent monsters behind closed doors. I think there may be a connection between men who abuse violently and serial killers. Only difference really, is that abusers are more focused on maintaining control and possession of the victim and hold back from killing them (unless they snap too far, kill victim on accident or kill them because the victim tries leaving & they lose the control and possession) and serial killers enjoy the process of killing their victims. Seems their motives are different, but the lack of empathy, perpensity to violence, ability to turn it on and off and lie so effortlessly, are all very similar between both groups.

This has got to be one of the best interviews I have ever seen. It was so charitable for Kerri Rawson to be willing to be interviewed and to be so open and honest. Her resilience, courage, and strength is beyond impressive. She is an incredibly wise women and so articulate. She did this interview even though she is going through unimaginable suffering and is having her wounds ripped open again. I am so sad for everything she has gone through and will continue to go through. Thank God she had the courage to get help and is beyond kind to help others. I really appreciate her level of empathy for everyone involved, including Kohberger's family. I have seen very hurtful, unfair, and judgmental statements regarding his family. They have got to be going through absolute hell. I am also impressed with Brian Entin's interviewing skills. He was respectful, kind, sensitive and allowed Kerri to talk. I applaud him for that. His compassion showed all over his face. I am so deeply sorry for the tragic loss of these precious college students, Madison, Xana, Kaylee ,and Ethan. My heart breaks for their families and loved ones. Nothing is worse than losing a child. God bless them all including Kerri and the roommates who survived. God bless the police for doing such an excellent job.

I feel for Kerri! I met Dennis a handful of times in my youth, we knew him as the dog catcher. He would run us out of the ditch (which I remember as being huge, but recently saw it and it’s actually very small) more than once. He scared us because he was a person of authority and we were all between the ages of 6 and 9. Later, when it came out that he was BTK and lived literally just around the corner from us, I froze! One day he walked up to our house on a day that my sister would be just arriving home from school and would normally be alone. My brother was working under his car and saw Radar quickly walking towards the door. My brother pulled out from under the car and said, “what do you want, Radar?” Radar just turned and walked quickly away. My brother still thinks that our sister was meant to be his next/last victim. I am traumatized by just that little bit. I KNOW Kerri has a whole bunch more terror in her life! My heart goes out to her!

I didn’t expect to listen to more than a minute or two of this interview. This young woman is so impressive with her understanding of what families of killers go through, and that of the families of the victims. She’s very astute, articulate and compassionate. I learned a lot about the making of a serial killer from her. Granted. I’ve never been interested in anything related to it before. This case has been so unusual from the beginning that I found myself like so many others, following it closely. I sincerely hope the families of the victims and the Kohberger family can get the help they need to cope with this tragedy. She even pointed out how the lives of everyone involved, including the young police officers who went in the house first, will be affected by this case. They all will need help coping.

Yes I agree. She should get someone in radio. Or TV to help her become a professional speaker to civic groups. Universities. Highschools. She already speaks very well. She needs help getting started. If she wanted to of course. And make some money for herself. She has a horrible story to tell. But even she said. Talking about her father helps her. Like nothing else can. Yes. I think she is extremely brave and courageous being willing to share her personal story. I bet most people don.t think how the killer.s family also suffers for the rest of their lives. I can.t even imagine when she first heard about her father.s crimes. I think her interview is very enlightening. Thank You for sharing your story.

This was an excellent, honest, brave, and powerful interview she gave. So many points to think about, comparisons, the mindset - the questions she still has and will always have. The devastation of all those involved when someone can hide their 'other self' so well. How she reflected on her feelings then and now and how they changed her life. Such a brave woman. I pray that she truly gets healing (as best as she can) for all the trauma she's been through.

I can relate. My cousin murdered his wife and was on the news the following days asking her to "come home" as he reported her "missing" while holding their toddler in his arms, showing how good of a father he is. They found her body in a suitcase in an abandoned house a few weeks later. As the family of a psychopath there is such a feeling of shame. I hate him. I hope every day he gets unalived in prison. The worse part happened recently. The Supreme Court overturned his conviction and he is allowed another trial. We, his blood family (my mom, his aunt, my immediate fam), KNOW he did it - we have no doubts at all. The fact he was able to get a second trial is devastating and terrifying. i never went for trauma counselling ongoing. I did when it first happened because I had to take some time off work, I was completely mentally affected....maybe I should now too....

I agree. Sadly we had the same thing happen in my family from a very small community in northern Manitoba Canada where one of my brothers did terrible things ( I will leave it at thar) we were all painted with a black brush and esp my parents were branded as the worst parents to walk this earth. Out of five kids one was bad so please remember that when you r making terrible comments ect to the family. We were totally shocked about my brother. And he has snowballed us too. This is what happens when you have someone in the family thafs not quite right and the cops and mental health society acts like ok he is strange but we have to wait til he commits a crime. Well both my brother and this criminal did and now everyone pays attention, that’s the way our criminal system works and someone or lots of people ahve to lose their lives for the cops to say ok now we can do something about it. So tragic

I soooo agree. My best friend in high school was faced with the very terrible reality of his father murdering a neighborhood mother, who was well known, well loved. It was shocking to say the least. He was devastated and forever changed by his fathers actions. I’ll never forget what he went through as the son of a murderer. He was so kind and just all around great kid, but after the murder he broke. He has gone through hell and back with drugs, depression, and so forth. The past couple years (20 plus years since it happened), he’s finally finding peace. It was just so sad how it forever changed his path and world. My heart goes out to victims, their families, and the families of those who commit such violent acts. No one ever really talks about what they go through. The amount of guilt and despair they face is truly unfathomable.

@@LastNameAvailable what I did was move away f three provinces from the province I was born and raised from to keep my insanity. We forget the there is victims on both sides and the media harass the criminals family they the brain laundrie family. We don’t really know if they were part of the crime or not but so many treat them like garbage just because of public opinion. And it’s tragic. Let the justice system do it’s part and leave people lone until it is proven one way or the other. My parents were just heartbroken and no matter how often they said how sorry they were no one heard that or cared, so let’s be kind to all but the criminal as they r the ones that did the crime not the family, there were five kids in my. Family and the rest of us got good jobs got married had kids and contributed to Canada society as productive members and I am proud of my brothers. But let’s be aware we r not the same as the one in jail.
