Thank you for the reactions from the Dreamcatcher group. I advise you to listen to the song Siyeon and Dami in two versions. And you will be even more shocked by Siyeon's voice! The songs are very dramatic and touch your soul.

I felt the same way the first time I heard Bonvoyage in English, but after a few listens it feels natural now. I know, from watching some other reactions to it, that it hit differently for a lot of people because they had no idea what the first song's lyrics were and hearing it in English allowed them to digest the meaning as well. It's also a good addition to the upcoming full English album they keep teasing.
Speechless is one of the DC covers that propelled me from casual listener to super fan. Suas Copycat and Yoohyeon's Secret Love song are the other two.
Destiny was written and produced by Dami in her own studio, which is the room she was in. It's a song for the fans. It definitely feels like she's channeling some of her time in Minx for it.
Not a fan of Ed Sheeran but that's fine because Perfect is Yoohyeon's song now.
Mood is one of the fun Yoobin covers. They have a couple other covers they've done together.
At this point, every song they cover is just a Dreamcatcher song in my eyes. They always do a fantastic job and the cover becomes my favorite version.

It's late, and I had a long day, so let's hope I can make my localization rant coherent... So, I honestly am not the biggest fan of the localization here, and it's basically because the team showed that they are _capable_ of doing the things I think are important in localization--which means editing the source material so it hits the same way in the target language as the original--but in many places, they just...didn't. For example, in the chorus, using, "Tell me, oh, bon voyage!" in place of, "malhaejwo, bon voyage!" was a very good piece of localization because inserting the "oh" meant that you ended up with an "L" sound in the first syllable, an "EH" (ish) sound in the second, and an "oh" sound in the third. Therefore, this is going to sound similar in both languages, and the *emphasis* also lines up because of how they used "oh" as an interjection in the same place as the imperative conjugation "jwo" in the original. Maybe that was a coincidence, but there's a few other places they do things like that, which made my brain go, "Ah, I love it :D" And yet, in others...like most of the verses...it feels like they just kind of rapped out whatever was directly spat out by Google Translate. And that infuriates me and just makes me sad.
Siyeon's "Speechless" is probably my second favorite Kpop cover of all time, "BETELGEUSE" being the first lol. This song means so much to her, too, as someone who fought against the idol industry so hard back during Minx era and still fights against the gender norms all the time.
Dami being cute in "Destiny" is just so wonderful. I love that she really can Do Both. That special clip was so soft and peaceful, too. Someone else in the comments probably pointed this out already, but Dami wrote, composed, and produced it herself.
"Mood" is also such a vibey song, but they somehow made it even more laid back and vibey. I love their cover.

I felt the same way with the english version. part of it is being use too the korean version but another part of it is the english they choose doesn't flow as well as korean, imo. maybe I just prefer listening in a language I don't understand lol.

It’s because they went for a literal translation instead of rewriting the English lyrics to capture the same essential meaning but be more rhythmically appropriate!
I can’t blame DCC since it doesn’t seem like they have much in the way of English-speaking staff at all, and the DC members themselves don’t have a super high level of fluency (despite Yooh’s incredible accent haha) so the linguistic sophistication needed for poetry, which is what song lyrics basically are, isn’t a resource they seem to have. Or I guess they could find someone to do translations, but their team doesn’t necessarily have the ability to even evaluate how good the translations are.
Ngl, I’m a little concerned about their English album-they’re obviously going to kill it performance-wise, but if the lyrics are as done as clumsily as Bon Voyage (Farewell ver.) I’m not sure how successful it’ll be. Though if they end up rewriting and being able to perform their Japanese songs again I’d be able to forgive anything haha!

I loved the original Speechless by Naomi Scott, but Siyeon.. she just slayed it and even made changes to make it her own. It’s one of my go to covers and one I recommend to people getting into DC. Solar also has a version of Speechess and it’s also different from the original as it uses Solar’s strengths.
Destiny is adorable and it’s in Dami’s studio. (Dami and Moonbyul definitely have the deep rap voice with the lighter singing voice)

The English lyrics feel like they've been forced into the song while the Korean lyrics flow perfectly with the music. Yoohyeon is the best English speaker and her accent is almost perfect. Jiu is the worst, and the others fall in between. Siyeon is the best at Japanese.
I've heard Speechless hundreds of times and said everything there is to say about it, but it still makes me tear up every time. The emotional power in her voice is so rare in this world. She is a treasure.
Dami also improve her vocal and rap style 😊 Yes, I agree with you Siyeon's voice mature..... all the girls improve in all aspects...
