This fixed my rough idle thank you! It used to shake and drop under 500 rpm whenever the a/c was on now it idle at just under 1k rpm and doesn’t even drop when I turn the ac on! Will keep up with this service from now on on my 2011 Nissan Rogue

I did this on my Honda a year or so ago, while I was also changing the air filter anyways. Before this I felt the gaspedal would sometimes stick just a little when I started pushing it in, after stopping and idling. I found that the butterfly valve got caught on a little edge of carbon build up inside the throttle body. After cleaning, problem solved. And idle much smoother.
I did this on my 2013 Rogue and after having a mild heart attack when my idle wouldn't drop below 2000rpm I plugged the MAF back in and it was fine. Then idle sat at around 800, I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and started it back up. It runs great now. This video was very helpful!

You did a good job kind Sr; with two possible problems when cleaning the MAF ("Mass Air Flow") and the TB ("Throttle Body")...
On older Nissan automobiles; the MAF is different than on your car. Thus, in order to get to the older one; you must remove the whole "air" intake and air filter" plastic plenum; to get to the MAF.
Also; that type is VERY sensitive; and can be easily damaged when cleansing. So be VERY careful in cleansing it. In other words: keep the cleanser can's spray; quite away from the MAF's "wire" sensor. For too much pressure; will often damage the sensor. And they are not cheap.
Further; one should remove the TB; from the metal plenum; going into the engine. I know, I know; that many do try to clean the TB from only the intake side. But really; one should remove the TB; so you can thoroughly clean the output side of the TB. In fact, more "carbon" gathers on the output side; than the intake side. Note: high pressure cleaning spray; does not hurt the TB.

Awesome video. 2013 Nissan Rogue had a rough idle anytime the A/C compressor clicked on and just cleaning the throttle body alone fixed the rough idle

Hey bud.. I had the same thing happening in my 2012 nissan dualis. I done everything you mentioned in your video and its been running much better with very little to no drop in the idle. I even gave the air filter a service.

My wife has a 2013 Rouge and it does the same thing when the AC is on. Her 2011 Rouge she owned before it never did do it but this one has done it for a while. I will clean the throttle body and MAF next week since I am off work and see if helps. Thanks for the informative video. @@RealAmericanHero420 I didn't get to do it yet. I started having a missing or jumping on my Ford Ranger that I drive to work and had to try and figure out that since I need it for work. Took me a while to track it down but it was the coil pack and while I was changing it I went ahead and changed the spark plugs and wires also. She doesn't work and the Nissan doesn't get drove that much but I am going to try and clean them and see if it helps. It doesn't affect the way it runs it is just aggravating when you stop with the A/C on and when the compressor kicks in it feels like the car is going to shut off. I will comment back when I do it so we can see if it helps.

shop asked $110 for this. bought the spray cleaner for under $10 and did it myself. runs great. Two takeaways from your video. 1. the MAF sensor can only be connected in one way, so not worry about connecting it wrong. 2. after cleaning the throttle body "when you first start the car it would not want to start and that is normal". I thought I messed up something or should have left it longer to dry before I connected.

Make sure motor mounts are in good shape. Sometimes when they get old they transmit more vibration

Most time some people improved that vibration with the PAG OIL AND YES OF COURSE THOSE BASICS FIRST. CLEANING ALL THOSE THINGS YOU DID IS A MUST FOR ALL VEHICLES. EXCEPT MY TESLA LOL. SORRY FOR CAPS LOL
This fixed my issue with the shake that has been happening for years.. unfortunately the rest of the car is also broken... 2013 was a really bad year for nissan i guess? Anywhoo.. not taking any other chances and going Toyota/Honda for now on.
I also clean my Nissan Cefiro Maf Sensor and Throttle body and it works... I think Nissan has the same problems.

similar problem in my mazda 6 vibration isnt as violent but its more then Usual .. I already tried to clean massairflow sensor cleaning. since i was at it i cleaned the airbox and addda new airfil worked alittle but still doing same vibrating thing only certain rpm … I’m wondering if it’s a new engine mount , and needs breaking in.. I just replace the top engine mount it was bad, Also replaced the torque mount.. Maybe I need to readjust the torque mount because I put that in first with an old top mount then I realized the top mount was leaking fluid then I change the top mount bringing up the engine at least an inch or so … which means the bottom torque mount was used to having the broken mount position possibly.. what Do you think about that should I readjust it loosen up the torque mount and then use that new position and then just tighten it down?
Thanks for showing it. I had problem because I didn't closed the air filter cap to close properly. You also should check air filter. I had closed it now its working perfectly.
I had my car repaired by mechanic about few months ago during winter. And did not check car air filter.
So for future check out your air filter cap even you taken it to auto repair shop.

My car the engine shakes a little you can see it moving just sitting in park I suspect the engine mounts are stating to go I replaced one of them the easy one to do lol but it doesn’t cause any lights to come on and runs perfectly fine.
The vibrations happen on idle when a use anything that uses more power. The heater, rear windows heater, etc. Can it be the battery or alternator?
Which models or years we can't move with your hands. Mine is a nissam rogue 2015, old version.

I have excessive vibration with the ac on but only when idling in gear, it also makes a pinging noise in addtion to the vibration after the engine warms up, do you think I have the same issue?
Is this very common with Nissan xtrail, I have 2009 nissan xtrail st auto 2.5 ltr, it's over 36800 km so it has. Done a lot km, I notice starting to get strange rattling sounds coming when car is starting, slightly starting to shake, it's slowly start cost more out of pocket expenses, seems happen around Christmas.

My suzuki ciaz is doing the same thing, rough idle but only when the AC is on… im thinking of getting my throttle body cleaned see if it improves, a mechanic test drive my car and told me that it could be spark plugs but the idle vibrations didn’t improve even after I’ves changed spark plugs…

I recently got the Engine Light Solid ON and then the Slip Indicator Light came ON temporarily. The Engine Light code was MAF Sensor malfunctioning so will definitely try the cleaning you showed. Slip Indicator light became more frequent as I drove home (about 1k miles) to the point it was obvious it'd go ON when I reduced the speed to like 15mph or idled. I was able to make it go by turning engine off and restarting and driving off immediately. At one point I lost all power when at a Red light stop. I had turn on/off and immediately step hard on the gas and cross a red light to get going. Finally made it home and plan on addressing it tomorrow (Monday). Hopefully it's all being caused by the MAFS. Btw, will I get all this done plus sparks plugs changed if I pay for a tune up?
Make sure to ask the shop/tech that is servicing your car what is included in a tune up and go from there. Tune up used to include many things back in the day but has since changed over the years due to changing technology. Sometimes an error in one module will set a code in another. For example on some gm cars and issue with certain engine sensors will cause a transmission code to also set. So an issue with your maf could cause your slip light to come on and cause major performance issues.
I am hoping this will fix my moms Rogue. She lives in Chicago and Im in Florida, she was panicking thinking her suv’s live was ending 😢

Great video! I have a sentra that shakes when ac is turned on and when its put into reverse or drive. Rpms drop exactly as you showed. All mounts replaced. Fuel trims good. No codes. Upstream O2 very high (2.5 v). Will definitely try this procedure tonight. I only have one question...I was under the impression that we shouldn't manually push open the throttle actuator. Have you heard this?
In some cars you have no choice but to. If you have a cable that goes to the throttle just holf the gas pedal down. If you have a car that when you turn on the ignition engine off opens the throttle then you can do the same. If not then you have to hold it by hand. Either way just remember not to slam the throttle and if its electric throttle and you can open it with the pedal dont force against the motor
I have a 2008 Ford F-150 and i’m having the same issue. Should I go ahead and do this too? My AC blows cold when i’m actually driving but i definitely feel a vibrations when coming to a stop and when starting to accelerate from being idle.

Same with my car but not just the AC. Anything that uses power dims the lights and causes vibrations.

Was having rough idling ( basically high rpm around 2k ) issue with my Chevy Kalos 1.2.. Got it cleaned thoroughly by opening the TB from its Mount. After that the above problem was fixed to some extent however, I've noticed check engine light post cleaning and there is also a jerkyness while accelerating especially in low RPM ( say about 1.2k ).Idle RPM also drop and car jerks while AC is on. Any idea what could be the reason behind it ?
Might be caused by bad spark plugs or coil, have it checked

Having a similar issue with my 08 RAV4 2AZFE 170K cleaned throttle body and MAF about 4 months ago, when the engine warms up, you turn it off for about 15mins+ turn it back on drive it and in gear at idle with AC Compressor engaged it rumbles and vibrates noticeably... it does even out in about 15mins of driving.. ideas? thanks
Check motor mounts. Also very overlooked is the alternator clutch. Not 100 percent sure if this vehicle has it but my 07 camry did. If it locks up it can cause vibration specially when the ac is on.
Clean your EGR Valve. Toyota’s from that time period are notorious for EGR Systems getting carbon build up and cleaning it out makes them really run much smoother. Try it and let me know how it works.
Would I do the same for a Mitsubishi Outlander 2015 the car idles rough when on park and AC is on, when I turn ac off it stops. I opened the hood and the engine was not shaking but as soon as I turned the ac on it engine started shaking and sputtering?

I'm pretty sure your knowledge on the engine far surpasses mine but I would highly recommend not storing or laying your tools on engine components while working. The little lip between the bottom of the windshield and the beginning of the engine compartment is my go-to storage slot so nothing falls down into the engine compartment by accident

To be honest no , there's no codes no transmission issues , no ac issues , no vacume leak . I'm kinda at a loos at this point I just restart my car and it goes away
hey buddy, great video! had the same problem on my 2015 altima and did the same thing you did, worked like a charm! However, rn i'm trying to get rid of a consistant, mild vibration when idling in gear. It's not severe but definitely noticeable and kinda irritating. I cleaned both MAF and throttle body, used seafoam fuel additive as well as seafoam top engine cleaner, the vibration improved, but it's still there, especially at cold start. When the car warms up, it subsides quite a bit but still there. What do you think the problem might be? I'm planning on replacing the engine air filter (although this one isnt really clogged up) and changing the pcv valve. My car has I-4 engine and 67000 miles on it. Do you think it's the nature of I-4 to vibrate or there's something wrong? How would you go about fixing it? Thanks!
Glad you found the video helpful. I have seen many of these vehicles develop a minor vibration as they get older. Keep the throttle body and maf clean every 30k. Also check out the motor mounts. A nice trick is to get a jack and with a piece of 2×4 support the engine. If the vibration goes away chance is the motor mount is letting vibration reach the frame. If you replace the mount be extremely careful not to use cheap mount. There are mounts that are oil filled and the cheaper replacement are solid rubber that allows for more vibration. I know some nissan use oil filled mount. Please subscribe if you haven't and ill make a video about this as soon as I get the chance.
How about cleaning the EGR valve? When they come stuck open and build up all that carbon your car can have these symptoms too. I’d recommend clean it and lube it with a little wd40

soon i as turn my ac it starts shaking while on D and idle like you did on the video. the engine shakes but i don’t really see change on the idle needle like yours . could it still be fixed i do clean the throttle and mass sensors

Bro, I just clean the throttle body of my Accord 9th gen.. when I start the car the rpm won't drop from 1.3K. Previously the RPM is around 700 to 800. Any idea how to bring it back to normal rpm idle?
Yeah that happens sometimes. If it doesn't self adjust you may have to do an idle relearn.
Im gonna give this a try soon. I do notice too with our car(2011 Sentra) is that even while the ac is running the RPMs will drop while stopped at a light. Also because of the rough idle the car has a chirping noise... i was told it was the engine mounts making the noise? That sound right? I want to know is there is a way i can quiet that down again cuz when stopped it chirps quite loud at this point. Thanks
Chirping noises are normally associated with drive belts. But i guess anything is possible
@@gautorepair I call it a chirp... but the sound is clearly caused by the vibrations and not a belt. Like something needs to be tightened, type of chirping. I can imitate the chirping to a lesser degree when shutting the doors to the car as well.
My honda element 2004 vibrates, at stop n go traffic and worser when the ac is on,steering wheel and console, but when I turn off the ac, it doesn't vibrate until I hit the gas pedal, I thought I needed a cv axle but after watching this video, maybe its just as simple as this not sure until, I actually try this,good video anyway

Hey there, I did this on my 2011 Pathfinder, the throttle body and MAF sensor are spotless, but the engine is still bogging down when the AC clutch kicks in. The service engine light for MAF sensor code also comes on now and then.
There is a service bulletin for the MAF sensor and an ECU reprogram, I'm wondering if I should get a new MAF sensor, or get dealership to do the ECU reprogram.... both are around the same price and I don't want to do both if I don't need to.
You should follow bulletin instructions
Replace your ac compressor or check your freon capacity. Try taking some freon out due to your ac compressor poor performance. Uour engine is struggling to run everything in your car and if your ac compressor performance is not right it will shake and soon uour engine will break.
Can you please explain what the AC system, clutch, or AC compressor have to do with the air intake?
Everytime the ac clutch engages it is an additional load on the engine, therefore the rpms dip. When the throttle body is dirty that same load is more noticeable because the throttle body has a harder time compensating for the load. Depending on how much crud is built up around the opening the vehicle gets worse and worse

Throttle body for sure. But i clean both as part of the service because the maf does get dirty after awhile and effects performance.

Unless you want to buy a new gasket then do not do that. Just clean it while still installed.

Ok. Check out your motor mounts and repair as needed. Very important to make sure you get good quality mounts. Also replace spark plugs if worn or due for change based on the interval which should be about 100 to 120k. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leak, check engine light, etc.

Mm I have not changed the spark plugs yet don't know if previous owner changed them the car has 88104 Milles on it
See the condition of the plugs. It may need them. Again verify motor mounts are ok. Also check if the alternator has a clutch. I don't remember 100 percent on this car. But if the clutch is locked up it could cause vibration. You will see the belt flopping specially when ac is on. Another thing that can be done is check the ecm for updates. If i remember correctly from working at the dealer the idle rpm can be slightly adjusted up to improve the issue. The only problem is i heard it slightly lowers fuel economy. These nissans were notorious for this issue.

Its just a throttle body cleaner. Try to find a cleaner that says throttle body. If not i have used brake parts cleaner before.

@@gautorepair I'm believe the engine compartment.. I just noticed that whenever I change from, just the air being pushed through the vents, to vent/feet..it vibrates/makes that noise everytime.
Interesting. Its hard to say with out being there. If its when you change settings see if its related to that particular setting, sometimes the electric servos get damaged teeth in side and make noise when to change to heat or vents. Usually it is a clicking noise.
