Lance Henriksen, can we get a second opinion? "That's the stupidest f@*kin' thing I ever heard." (I'm not referring to your comment, just continuing the Horror Geek schtick.) 😀
I’m reading 1980 now. During the launch video for the book series, Josh said he was going to try to get one out every 6 months or so, which means eventually the books will pass the videos. So if you get the books, when all your friends are talking about the latest 80s Project video, you can be the person that tells them “The book was better!”
Josh, in the summer of 1983, HBO and Spotlight (later absorbed by Showtime/The Movie Channel) played JECKYLL AND HYDE, EATING RAOUL, BEASTMASTER, GREASE 2, YOUNG DOCTORS IN LOVE, CARBON COPY, MEGAFORCE, and Q: THE WINGED SERPENT over and over...and we LOVED it!
The Slayer is legit one of my favorite horror movies. It has a nice relaxing feel with some awesome deaths. Love the lead too. Something about her captivates me.
I find it absolutely based and hilarious that the Aerobics' instructor say "that's not realistic" and it pissed off a sleazy director. It is just so satisfying to see that for some reason.

The second that Pieces was mentioned I immediately throught of The Horror Geek and Linda Day George..and sure enough in this video we get...BASTAARD! BAAAAAAASSSTAAAAAAAARDDDD!!!!
Absolutely love Jekyll and Hyde Together Again! Bizarre classic that only could exist in the 80s. I had it on a blank tape with Maximum Overdrive as a kid. Also the hooky restaurant scene with the band was actually Madam Wong's place which was a legendary spot for punk in at the time. Really captures a special moment.
I was around in 1982. Year I graduated high school, in fact. I'm sorry to say I only saw two of these in the theater: Eating Raoul and Pieces. At least they were the good ones!
Bloodtide looks kinda cheesy but any movie with Miss Too Close For Comfort (Lydia Cornell) is worth a look for me. I liked her work and there's no such thing as too close for comfort. The 80s still have a lot to offer and I look forward to the next part.
What a great reminder of “Jekyll and Hyde... Together Again” this was a film my mom dropped me off at the theater to see. I was 12. I really hope you can get Mark Blankfield on. He’s great. I was excited when I saw he was on Friday’s but man was that show running on cocaine.
I met Nico Mastorakis when I was a kid. What a great guy! I still wanted to direct then and he was like a rock star. I liked that you mentioned Z boys but not Blind Date.
I love the Popeye refernce. Paul L. Smith is one of those actors who pops up in so many things. Such as "The Beast" Rabban in the 1984 Dune. He was also in one of my absolute favorites, The In-Laws from 1979.
Mark Blankfield was a unsung talent - a brilliant physical comedian. Check out some of his stuff on the old Fridays TV show. For some reason he never really took off but I guess if your starring in The Jerk TV sequel, you star really wouldn't be considered on the rise.
Blood Song WAS on the Video Nasties list under Section 3. It was banned and the tapes could be seized but it was not prosecuted. And it's okay. Like Josh said, the first part is quite slow. The Slayer was on the list too under Section 2. I found it rather dull.
I can honestly say I've never seen any of the movies on this list this week. Now I do know the whole Linda day George's bastards and then she screams it even louder from another podcast and I remember hearing about it but that's about all I know about these group of movies.
I'm surprised you didn't include "The Woman In The Room" (also a short story by Stephen King) with "The Boogeyman". They were paired together on the same release, which can be seen on the covert art of the VHS tape that you showed at the beginning of The Boogeyman.
When you get to 1984, please include The Terminator and when 1986, please include Invaders From Mars. Through both have sci-fi elements, they are filmed like horror movies.
Hey, I DID THIS IN REAL TIME. IVE RENTED AND SEEN EVERY HORROR MOVIE MADE IN THE 80S BECAUSE I GREW UP IN THE GREATEST ERA FOR MOVIES EVER. YOU'RE NOT THAT ORIGINAL. FYI you already missed some good Italian horror movies but hey, you're the expert, you know that. But for real I graduated hs in 87 and believe me, I've seen it
do you guys even remember Lynda Day George screaming "bastard, BASTARD"???
Christ I'm old.
Lance Henriksen, can we get a second opinion? "That's the stupidest f@*kin' thing I ever heard." (I'm not referring to your comment, just continuing the Horror Geek schtick.) 😀
Not like that you pervs.
Hell Yeah!
The more you know.
At your age, you must be getting tired, which means...football practice!!!

Timelines, Sci-fi/Horror Projects, a book, family life... does Josh ever *sleep?* He's like a Terminator or something. 😀
He doesn't feel remorse or pity, and he absolutely will not stop, ever, until he's seen every horror movie of the Eighties.
My favorite here is definitely Pieces. It’s just the most random scene that somehow still fits together perfectly. Oh, hey….
Eating Raoul was a fun film, and Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov together are always worth watching! She will always be Calamity Jane to me!
Eating Raoul is my favorite movie from this block. Anything with Bartel and Woronov gets my attention.
Mark Blankfield makes me think of Saved by the Bell. He was hilarious in it. Great in Men in Tights as well
From this block, Pieces is by far my favorite.
Wow! If it weren't for Pieces, I wouldn't have seen a single film this block.

Mark Blankfield was hilarious as Blinkin in Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
I remember Mark Blankfield from a tales from the darkside episode called the bitterest pill.
"Your memories are stored in your blood." 😆
Josh, you finally got to my favorite slasher of the 80s. I still recommend Pieces to this day to those who haven't seen it. Good work my friend.
The second that Pieces was mentioned I immediately throught of The Horror Geek and Linda Day George..and sure enough in this video we get...BASTAARD! BAAAAAAASSSTAAAAAAAARDDDD!!!!
I’m definitely more of a late 80s guy than an early 80s guy lol. The early 80s do have a bunch of bangers though.
“The Slayer… one year before Show No Mercy”!
😂😂😂🤟🎸🎶
"One year before 'Show No Mercy'" Well now, I don't think anyone expected you to go there but we're all glad you did.
YES Josh!!! Always excited for a new 80's project!!!😁😁
Pieces never got a remake but the Christopher Lambert movie "Resurrection" has a lot of similarities.
Surprising I've not heard of most of the beginning movies, some I might try cheers Josh
I saw Pieces for the first time & that Bruce Lee guy came out of nowhere. We were cracking up like wtf does this have to do with the movie 🤣🤣🤣
And my wife had a hard day but your video made it worth thanks like always a keep up the good work
35:30 - The moment I've been waiting for and what better way to present it than as the finale to this video. 😁
I was around in 1982. Year I graduated high school, in fact. I'm sorry to say I only saw two of these in the theater: Eating Raoul and Pieces. At least they were the good ones!
Keep up the great work Josh ❤
Before Moulin Rouge, Baz Luhrmann also brought us the cool music video/hit single/graduation speech, "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)"
I grew up watching Jekyll and Hyde Together Again. Still love that movie!
Back in the early 90s I rented The Slayer vhs double feature with Scalps. Movie scared the hell out of me as a kid!
Bloodtide looks kinda cheesy but any movie with Miss Too Close For Comfort (Lydia Cornell) is worth a look for me. I liked her work and there's no such thing as too close for comfort. The 80s still have a lot to offer and I look forward to the next part.
It is pretty cheesy, but definitely worth checking out. I have it.
I got my copy in the mail and am excited to read it now that I’ve had my cataract surgery
What a great reminder of “Jekyll and Hyde... Together Again” this was a film my mom dropped me off at the theater to see. I was 12. I really hope you can get Mark Blankfield on. He’s great. I was excited when I saw he was on Friday’s but man was that show running on cocaine.
1982 was when I first got my hands on a copy of Fangoria. I read and re-read that copy so many times...
Love Pieces saw it when I was 8 😁🐾💜👍👋
1982 was fire 🔥
Love Your Videos! Keep Up The Good Work!👍👍👍
im sad that i've now caught up with all the 80s horror project videos bc now that means i have to wait for the next ones
Greatest thing about the 80s it didn't have to make sense as long as it was entertaining 😂
The slayer.......thank you! I could never the remember the name of that film.
Hyde has nothing to hide.. best song
Pieces was not on the Nasties list, although it probably should have been!
“Show ‘em how it’s done, Lynda Day George!”
Mark Blankfield was a unsung talent - a brilliant physical comedian. Check out some of his stuff on the old Fridays TV show. For some reason he never really took off but I guess if your starring in The Jerk TV sequel, you star really wouldn't be considered on the rise.

Saturday just got a whole lot better 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I use to watch Pieces all the time as a teenager
Pieces is a masterpiece
31:22 best movie on this list
I can honestly say I've never seen any of the movies on this list this week. Now I do know the whole Linda day George's bastards and then she screams it even louder from another podcast and I remember hearing about it but that's about all I know about these group of movies.
The 80's had many scream queens, but only 1 'Bastard' queen. All hail Linda Day George.
Best: Pieces, love the gore and its one of my fav slashers. George is always awesome!
So many Cinemax nights that I completely forgot. 😀
Paul's in an institution playing the skin flute
Hey,really like your show. There are more of these coming, right? You are only at 82, looking g forward to more.
definitely. lots more to come.
How in the hell did Jekyll and Hyde Together Again cost $5 million dollars ?
It was the cocaine.
@@briancencula No doubt the entire cast was high as a kite ! Funny movie though ! Classic movie on HBO !
It is dumb, but my buddy still call out "Ivyyyyy!!" -- long live Mark B!
The 1988 Scarecrows is a great horror film.
Baz is pronounced like "has", not card".
In Australia, it's usually a shortened version of Barry.
Mark Blankenship is so underrated. Jekyll and Hyde together again is a favorite
So if something was made but not released in 1982 does it count? I don't believe Toxic Slime Creatures ever played theatres.
I'm surprised you didn't include "The Woman In The Room" (also a short story by Stephen King) with "The Boogeyman". They were paired together on the same release, which can be seen on the covert art of the VHS tape that you showed at the beginning of The Boogeyman.
You don't have to go to Texas to eat Roul. Great thank you

Well this makes my weekend
I don’t like you and the work you do Josh, I love it!!!❤❤❤ Ydb…. You da best!!!
1:10 more like blood boredom
And I was afraid you would skip over Jekyll and Hyde... together again!!! I can recite this movie word for word. Stupid funny is the best!
I really like you ! Frankie is really bringing the cringe !
32:09 what movie is this
Wish the book was available for Australia :(
Is there anyway us poor folks in the UK can get our hands on a copy of your book?
yes. it can be ordered there through either amazon or blackwells
Wow, thank you, Just ordered a copy. Will be with me by Sunday! @@movietimelines
Show No Mercy!!! Rules 🤘👹🤘
Ninja Academy!!!
If you had not used the Linda Day George "BASTARD"! scene, I would have been so disappointed in you.
Blood Song
26:19 oh no wonder this movie sucks.
I have Blood Tide
Easily Pieces!
Pieces🎉
Oh to be 11 again. Love everything you do, but this facial hair...
