  • After front loading week 10 with miles to ease up ready for the Droitwich Half Marathon on Sunday an email on Thursday announcing the postponement of the race put a spanner in the works. I decided to do a time trial instead to see what shape I was in and ended up surprising myself with a great end to the week.
After running my first ever sub 3 hour marathon last year I got a good for age place for London. Somehow I managed to double book myself and I am now busy on the London Marathon weekend. So I’m just going to have to prove it wasn’t a fluke and earn another Good For Age place for 2025. This is my attempt to get from Manchester 2024 to London 2025 via Good For Age.

Really enjoyed your training series Brett and I hope you smash Manchester out the park. Does any else spend ages humming the intro tune after you’ve watched this? Or is it just me? 😅

Brett whats the key/secret to breaking into the 6min miles im a comfy 7.45 and can do 4/5 miles at 7.30 then its tough. Can obviously go out like a race horse and get those low 7 or 6.50 min miles but its not sustainable. Ive heard its about yoga, weight training, intervals ect but whats your secret.

I'm not sure there is a secret to it to be honest. Training will be different for everybody to reach your targets but the basics are always key. Consistency, hard work and strength and conditioning. The more you do something the easier it will become and the more consistent you are the more it will just become part of routine. Keep at it and you will make the breakthrough you want.
