Jermaine I gotta disagree. It's larger than 1-2% of the city going through this fentanyl/drug issue (by land/area not population). Tenderloin and downtown are both obvious, but SOMA and Mission are becoming worse over time. Bayview and Hunters Point both have their destitute drug issues as well, though this is hidden from site as those areas are underdevloped. Union Square isn't so hot right now. And I've seen these issues extend over into Golden Gate Park in some areas (namely Haight). Really gotta put it at around 5-8% which is WILD when you see how concentrated it is in those areas.
San Francisco was beautiful for most of my life. When crime became allowed in 2018, my wife and I saw what was coming and decided to immediately retire elsewhere. I know what you mean about living "on edge", and we don't do that anymore. Stay Safe.

Was watchin' the NBA All-Star Game last night, and during the halftime show one of the guest commentators (Charles Barkley) said that he wouldn't even consider walkin' around downtown SF anymore; cuz of how dirty and unsafe it is!
