Great to see Ken out there, but to set the record straight my Thruxton out ran all the two strokes on this shortened race by a couple of seconds. Looks like I was up against Mark a multi time AHRMA champ. This is what makes AHRMA so great not only racing different machines but different skill levels of riders yet being a big family in the paddock, come out!
Thanks again for posting these! The bikes a 76 rd400. The kawi you were curious about is an h1500. The class is called formula 500 and allows any 500 cc or s,Allen bike from the mid 70’s. There were a couple cb400’s and cb550’s out there but most of the field is rd350’s and 400’s. Yes, I was catching Clint, (the overall leader from the first wave) but he also wasn’t pushing very hard bc he knew he had his race covered. If we had started next to each other, BOTH of us would have gone a lot faster! 👍💪🏼😎
#1 RD is Mark Morrow on his Scott Clough built RD400 he's been racing for about a decade. He has the number one plate for a reason. He's not a small guy either but he moves his 200 lbs up against any lightweight.
Brings back memories of my racing days on my cosworth Moto Guzzi let man's full ,998cc fast as fuck B10 production race gear , 41 mm magnesium Dellorto carbs, the gearbox came via a guy called Pietro, works at a Guzzi dealer ship. The gearbox alone was worth 2 k, the carbs 500 quid, and the cosworth barrels and pistons another grand! A true 150 mph bike in the 1970's where is that barber race way? Looks nice. I used to race at Brands Hatch, Sneterton, Mallory Park, Oliver's Mount and a track in Scotland called East Lothian run by Melville mcc.
Ken is definitely a Joy of fountain like that flagger said..💯 😀🇺🇲 Ken asked that dude with Kawasaki #66 about the displacement of his bike, and l think he simply lied to "Sr" whether his bike was a 750cc or a 500cc 😱 God bless united states of America 🇺🇲🇺🇸
Got excited when the text said Thruxton .......then crashed and burned its a modern theme bike. The H1 500 was faster than a Thruxton bonnie ......just the kamakazi didnt handle at all........i have one and they dont....fun to ride but not a race machine....
That was a fun video to watch as a RZ hot rodder/restorer (see my YT channel). Great comments below from some of the racers. I wish this place wasn't so damn far away.
