I grew up in small New England town I tell people it was like growing up in a Norman Rockwell painting, we were told to get outside and play, be gone, go play in the traffic, find something to do, get out of the house, it taught us to use our imaginations and we never ran out of things to do, gone from dawn to dusk everyday.

Bill's got a point though, how much of this horrifying stuff are we supposed to watch before we get desensitized to it and it just becomes funny?

About 2 minutes worth, then it is okay to laugh.

Exactly. Everyday in the news there is some horrible homicide news, children getting hurt, some act of terrorism, sexual abuse, corporations exploiting the poor and hungry, and all those terrible parts about humanity... then I see some overweight person claims abuse for being denied an extra seat by an airline 😂... It's like 2 different worlds and people are so self absorbed that to them an airline not offering them a free seat is the biggest problem to them, what's worse yet hilarious is that they expect people to agree with them 😂

I'm 39 and was given a 2 week old, 4 year old, 6 year old and 9 year old to care for, I've never had kids, I haven't been in school in a long time, I felt like I was in a vortex when it came to the way they do things now in school, it's wild.

That was definitely my child/teen hood. Out in the morning, back at dark. Played sports, swam, acted out tv shows, climbed trees, checked out construction sites, went on bicycle journeys, blew up frogs with firecrackers... that was the life.

I hear ya. I feel grateful I was lucky to be born as the last generation pre-internet. Growing up in the 80's-90's we went out in the morning and were home when the street lights came on. Riding our bikes around, playing different sports, games of "manhunt" or elaborate tag, exploring the neighborhood as we grew....
      Simpler times.

Yes we were exposed to the outdoors at a young age virtually every day. Trial and error. We would experience things earlier and took the good with the bad. Creativity was at a all time high and learnt how build and the mechanics behind it all. Like fixing bikes, building trolleys to race your neighbors kids down a hill. Life was great as a kid back then. The hidings we got were memorable also, some hilarious and some not.

Even in the 90s if you had a computer, it had DOS games and it wasn't online. If you wanted to meet other kids you had to go outside.

Oh, the wheelchair thing cracked me up. There was this arsehole in a wheelchair who lived near me who had a grudge against cars. I came out of a shop to find him smacking the crap out of my car with his crutch because my bumper was 2 inches over the curb ramp. I gave him 2 warnings to stop, he didn't, so I tipped him over. A crowd of people started cheering. I gave a bow, got in my car and drove off. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

I get where he’s coming from. I mean I can’t make jokes about some things myself. Like I’m sure I would empathize with people on Biggest Loser, and for myself, I couldn’t find it in myself to make jokes about DV. But I still get it, and unless I could tell they were laughing maliciously, I wouldn’t be upset if someone reacted the way Bill did. Everyone reacts to tragic news or sad life stories differently. I’m the person in my family who tried to lighten them mood- if I feel uncomfortable in that moment I try to brighten spirits and move on. Cause sometimes, if you don’t laugh, you’re gonna cry. I think that’s where Bill is coming from. He’s not laughing at people’s pain and suffering. He’s laughing at the misfortune or the hyperbole of the situation. The problem is, With Bill’s comedic brain, he doesn’t just react like this to fail videos on UA-cam like the rest of us. 😂 He laughs at the news. I don’t expect many people will understand it’s his nervous reaction to feelings. 😂 Nia sure had her work cut out for her. Lmao

So Canadian childhoods were the same as our Irish childhood. Isn't it fascinating how the world was to where we are? Shit if I let my kid outside for an hour without checking on her she'd have the government onto me 😂😂✌️❤️☘️🇮🇪

For me, I find myself laughing at stuff like that because humanity is doing such an awful job...
Like, we claim we want things to be better, but at the same time we spend most of our time and effort in the game of society, doing and creating all these frivolous things.
Putting close to nothing on maturing as a species.
The fact that [countries] are still a thing is an incredibly shameful thing. 😑
