    I hold Hilton Diamond (since 7 years), Marriott Titanium (about to turn Lifetime Gold), IHG Platinum. I hold Infinia, Amex Gold & Membership Rewards. I recently stayed at Millenium Hilton on 31 Dec 24 using 40K Hilton Points and watched new year fireworks. The night was worth atleast 60K INR. Bring me on your show 🤣. 50:28 Podcast says house payment using magnus burgundy gives AEP but as per axis t&c
    Spends on rental/Real Estate transactions of upto Rs. 50,000 in a calendar month
    will be considered for Total Eligible Spends. Any amount over and above Rs. 50,000
    in a calendar month will not be considered in calculation of Total Eligible Spends.

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  19 днів тому +1

      Thanks for bringing this up! The Axis Magnus Burgundy credit card does have certain terms and conditions around spends on rentals and real estate transactions. As per their guidelines, only up to ₹50,000 in these categories is considered for total eligible spends in a calendar month.
      That said, the best approach would be to test it out with a small transaction and check with the bank if the MCC (Merchant Category Code) falls within the ₹50,000 limit category. If it does, you can plan your spends accordingly. Always good to confirm before making larger transactions.
      Let us know how it goes! 💳✈️

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  20 днів тому +1

      Thank you for the kind words and for being such a fab listener! 😊
      Regarding Axis multiplier platforms like Gyftr and EDGE Rewards, they used to be quite popular for maximizing benefits. However, Gyftr with Axis has seen some devaluation recently, which has made it less attractive compared to other combinations.
      These days, pairing Gyftr with cards like HDFC Infinia (16.5% effective rewards) or Amex Platinum Charge and Gold Charge Cards (12.5% rewards) offers much better returns. These combos allow you to get great value on vouchers while maximizing reward points, making them ideal for leveraging spends on categories like shopping, dining, and more.
      Hope that helps! Cheers! ✈💳

    Absolutely love the discussions on this channel. Great work!
    Have had the platinum charge for 2 years now and I agree that the Mumbai Centurion lounge is strictly okay. The Adani lounge probably has tastier food.
    Also the terminal I was at in Paris had only the Delta Sky lounge where I couldn’t use the Plat charge card which was a bummer and they didn’t accept priority pass either!
    Q: If I’m buying tkts using cash, what would be my optimum bet buying flight tkts to the US worth 6L.
    Options: Plat charge gives me 10x on Air India whereas Atlas gives me 5x edge miles. Would appreciate your insight on this 🙏🏼

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  24 дні тому +1

      Hey Rajiv! Thanks for the love-glad you’re enjoying the discussions! The Mumbai Centurion Lounge is subjective - some love it and some dont, but the Adani lounge definitely has the edge when it comes to food. And that situation at the Paris terminal sounds frustrating; Delta Sky Lounge is great but not being able to use the Platinum Charge or Priority Pass is definitely a bummer.
      As for your question on buying flight tickets worth ₹6L:
      If you're flying Air India and the Platinum Charge gives you 10x points, that’s a fantastic value - 1.5 Lakh MR points that transfer to several partners. Airlines at 2:1 and Marriott at 1:1.
      On the other hand, Axis Atlas offering 5x Edge Miles could translate into 60K Airline or Hotel Points.
      We'd recommend leaning toward the Platinum Charge if you’re looking for flexibility with multiple transfer partners - also the quantum of miles is higher even at 2:1. If you're building a stash specifically for a particular redemption that isn't a transfer partner with Amex, then we think Altas might be a better bet. Let us know which program you’re targeting, and we're here cheering for you! 🙌✈

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  22 дні тому

      Great question! If your flight tickets and other expenses are business-related, it's always best to use a business credit card instead of a personal one. Business credit cards not only help you separate personal and business finances, but they also offer rewards and perks tailored for travel and business expenses. Look for options like cards offering bonus points for travel, fuel, and hotel stays. Plus, some cards even provide benefits like airport lounge access and travel insurance, which can be great for frequent travelers. Also, it’s a good idea to consult your tax advisor to ensure you're optimizing these expenses correctly for your business. Hope this helps!

    Does Axis Atlas give points for educational payments after the devaluations last year?

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  21 день тому

      Great question! As per the updated terms and conditions for the Axis Atlas Credit Card, if your educational payments are made to a government institution, they typically fall under excluded Merchant Category Codes (MCCs), meaning they will not earn EDGE Miles. If the payment is to a private or non-governmental institution, it's best to check the MCC associated with the merchant to confirm eligibility. You can verify this by reaching out to the institution or Axis Bank's customer care. If the MCC is eligible, you can proceed. Here's Axis's Bank's latest Document on Atlas: www.axisbank.com/docs/default-source/default-document-library/credit-cards/terms-and-conditions-atlas-credit-card.pdf

    Have a 4L spend coming up on an international travel that has to be on Lufthansa - what's the best card to do this on?

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  24 дні тому +2

      Great question, Ankan! Based on your ₹4L spend on Lufthansa:
      Axis Atlas is a fantastic choice. With its milestones, you can easily earn around 50,000 partner miles (40,000 on base sepnds + 5,000 joining bonus + 5,000 on milestone), all for a joining fee of just ₹5K + Taxes. It offers excellent value for international travel spends.
      Magnus Burgundy, however, takes the lead in terms of sheer rewards. For your spend, you’d earn 56,200 miles (7,200 for the first ₹1.5L and 49,000 for the next ₹3.5L). While Magnus Burgundy is a clear winner here, its ₹35K joining fee and higher eligibility might make it less accessible.
      If Magnus Burgundy is an option for you, it’s worth considering. Otherwise, Atlas remains an excellent alternative. Hope this helps-happy earning and enjoy your Lufthansa trip! ✈💳

However, my declared income is only ₹20 lakhs, and the total spend on my Amex charge card is ₹35 lakhs. Additionally, I have other credit cards on which I spend about ₹15 lakhs. As for IT reporting, banks notify authorities if the combined credit card payments across all cards exceed ₹10 lakh in a financial year. With your declared income and high spend level, it’s advisable to consult a tax professional to ensure compliance and clarify implications. I also want to understand if it would be okay for them to pay their part of the bill directly from their account, so that there won’t be any transactions in my bank account. In that case, I will at least be able to justify myself if I receive a notice from the Income Tax Department.

      @@siddharthojha9364 My CA recommended me to not give my credit card to anyone less for big spending, you can get notice from income tax if your spendings on credit cards is greater than earnings that year. For now, make sure that you're receiving that money into your bank account, and justify this as reimbursement for the purchases made on your credit cards by others. Also, if you're saving more money parallelly, the math won't work out, so be cautious and do get advice from your financial advisor.

    Any tips on how to get an upgrade from dinners black plastic to Infinia?

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  24 дні тому

      Upgrading from the HDFC Diners Club Black Credit Card to the Infinia Credit Card involves meeting specific criteria and following a structured process. Here's how you can enhance your chances of a successful upgrade:
      Credit Limit: Ensure your current HDFC credit card has a minimum limit of ₹10 lakh.
      Spending Threshold: Accumulate spends of at least ₹7.5 lakh over the preceding six months.
      Email: Send a formal upgrade request to Grievance.Redressalcc@hdfcbank.com, expressing your interest in transitioning to the Infinia Credit Card.
      Complete Documentation: If deemed eligible, you'll receive an upgrade form. Fill out the form accurately and return it via email; physical submission is typically unnecessary.
      Approval and Issuance: Upon approval, the upgrade is processed within 3-4 working days.

    Your show was amazing! Really loved it!! Just a question:
    I’m an NRE (HDFC A/C) and unable to get any good credit card for starting my miles journey. Can you share some ideas on getting one! Currently holding only basic cards like
    1. Swiggy HDFC Credit Card
    2. Yes Bank Kiwi Credit Card
    3. IndusInd Tiger Credit Card
    4. Axis MyZone Credit Card
    5. Tata Neu Plus Credit Card
    6. Scapia Federal Bank Credit Card
    7. IDFC FIRST Power+ Credit Card

    • @GreatIndianMiles
      @GreatIndianMiles  21 день тому

      Thank you Madan for the kind words about the show! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
      Now, coming to your question about kickstarting your miles journey as an NRE with the cards you currently hold:
      Challenges as an NRE: Being an NRE, certain premium credit cards (e.g., HDFC Infinia/Diners Black, Axis Magnus Burgandy, etc.) often have stringent eligibility criteria, which might not work with your NRE status unless you have strong financial relationships with the bank. Below are some options you could consider:
      1) Upgrade Your Existing HDFC Card: HDFC has some solid cards for miles enthusiasts (e.g., Diners Club Black or Infinia). Since you already have a relationship with HDFC, request an upgrade on your Swiggy HDFC card. A good savings/investment relationship with HDFC might help you qualify for DCB or Infinia.
      2) Axis Bank Options: Via the call centre or your relationship manager, you could request an upgrade to the Axis Magnus / Magnus Burgandy / Atlas Credit Card. They're all excellent for miles.
      3) Consider SBI Etihad Premiere: Offers a companion voucher that can be a very sweet deal if you spend more than 8 Lacs a year on the card - this implies you get buy one get one free ticket via miles route in any cabin of your choice - economy, business or first.
      4) International Cards: If you spend significant time abroad and have accounts in other countries, consider applying for a US, UK or UAE credit card (depending on your residency). Cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred (US) or Emirates NBD Skywards Infinite (UAE) are great for miles.
      Happy earning and safe travels! ✈

    Guys, Accor has a limit of 30000 per year miles transfer with Axis Atlas. There are different yearly limits accross all the travel partners. You really should focus of every detail if you are a dedicated channel for such a small domain like this. If not you are nothing but just another sales channel for the banks.

      Great question, Arvind! You can transfer Marriott Bonvoy points to American Airlines AAdvantage at a ratio of 3:1. Typically, Marriott also gives you an additional 5,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points transferred, but unfortunately, this bonus doesn’t apply to AAdvantage transfers.
      Once you’ve accumulated AA miles, you can easily book Etihad flights directly through the American Airlines website. It’s a great way to maximize your Marriott points for premium travel! ✈💳

      Coming back, to Atlas vs Infinia, I want BOTH 😂
      You guys are pushing me for Atlas now, especially after the Accor Episode, so I'm seeing myself with it in a few months, but Infinia, well, that's gonna take time (mil jaaye toh abhi le lunga) 😅😂

      @@vedantphuse Thank you, Vedant! Glad you’re enjoying the series and loving the deep dive into cards. DCP is a good card but you’re right-its lack of points transfer can be a downside.
      As for Atlas vs. Infinia, you’re thinking like a true card geek-both have their charm! Atlas is an easier grab with its milestones, especially for travel enthusiasts. Infinia, though, is the ultimate powerhouse for SmartBuy and Gyftr.
