Got mine today. It weights 2 lbs. I don't care for the slide in disc design, but this is a work of art. It already has a light scratch in a line indicating how it rested in the box.
The book is confusing me. I see there’s stuff folded in but I can’t seem to get any of it out to see the whole picture. It feels like I’m gonna rip the page out.
What do you think about the French Fold pages in that book? There are images on the inside of the fold, but the pages are tightly bound so it's not very easy to see what's hidden!
@@Loftipixels yes, it feels very deluxe. I imagine you discovered the "art print" postcards after you published the video as well, I was waiting for one of them to pop out of the little red sleeves! :)
Wong Kar-wai is a super influential Hong Kong filmmaker. Quentin Tarantino promoted a lot of his films in the 90s. Beautiful and romantic aesthetics in all his movies.
Sweet! Got the set myself. Beautifully put together. Actually going through them now (As Tears Go By works wonderfully so far and absolutely beautiful in its restoration, one of the harder film to get really). Went through Days Of Being Wild (might have ran into a problem but have to confirm if it's a disc or hardware/software issue) and that was a beautiful transfer too. Curious to see where I stand with the other films when I get to them (the most contentious so far from the chatter online is "In The Mood For Love" and "Fallen Angels" with their color corrections and tone (as it is a big part of their identity).
@@chrissmith-us3bu I can confirm, the discs are working fine. I had to play the discs on a quality made Blu Ray Player. On the Xbox consoles, they use a terrible software app to play data off the discs and at around Chapter 12 (the iconic steady cam shot of Luddy walking away), it creates a flicker/distortion of the image around the hour mark (from that film to Fallen Angels so far). Anyway, the discs should play fine with no errors on anything but an Xbox console (for context, it is playing fine on my PS4 Pro's Blu Ray drive directly, no software bloat). Anyway, loving this collection so far...enjoy! :)
Does it include the extended version of The Hand and Hua yang de nian hua, both short films by Wong? Also the Interview and “cinema lesson” with Wong from 2001? It was indicated on the Criterion website.
Thanks for making a 1 minute video as opposed to a 15 minute video. This was exactly what I was looking for!
You know this series of movies is popular when they are still putting out deluxe blu-rays 20years in.
Finally. An unboxing video where i actually SEE the unboxing and not spend 10 minutes staring at some dude going on and on about random facts.

To be picky, it's not a 4K release. :-)

I agree I don’t want to chance it and rip pages

It really took me by surprise I didn't notice them until after I uploaded this lol. I like the artwork though its a nice touch.

The Holy Grail !!!
That would be cool, I'm curious on what WKW is too.

@@Loftipixels well that is definitely very interesting!

How many art cards are in your set? I have 5, but there are six pages for them. I'm wondering if they left one out of my set..
It looks like all of my pages have a card

I've been reading reviews of this set and a few people have been talking about defective discs. Anyone have this problem?
I'm wondering if it's 4k UHD disc? It says it's 4k restoration though
Are any changes really jarring or do they flow really nice almost like a directors cut?
Its a shame they downgraded 4k transfers to standard blu rays.
how much did cost? $$
Is it region free?
Region free?
Region A
There's also a region B release in the UK
