I just came back from the Omote Ginza course during the last week of September, but couldn't finish at Yarigatake due to forecast of stormy weather 3 days straight. I have to plan again next year since I fly from Thailand, but I think next time I'll just walk straight from Kamikochi to Yarigatake so that I can feel I accomplish my failed mission. I'm actually interested in the Panorama Ginza too. During my morning hike from Otensho towards Mt.Yari in cloudy weather, I always saw Jonen and Jonen Goya on my left so it offered me a very comforting presence, like I wasn't totally lost in a wild or something.
Hey! How are you doing? I haven't done Omote Ginza yet. I might do it next year! Actually, I did Kamikochi ~ Yarigatake last year. It is quite long, 9 hrs hike in total. It is really hard to get a great weather in the northern alps, especially in the summer season but definitely try Panorama Ginza, Jonen is a great climb. I hope you get to finish Yari next year. The mountains ain't going no where so opportunity is always there. I wish you the best.
Thanks and likewise! The part from Otensho to Hutte Oyari (the furthest I could go this time) was really fun and challenging. I think you'll definitely enjoy it. 😊
0:41 - these tents are packed. Do you think a pole tent would fit there or does have to be free standing tent? Pole tents usually take up more space for guy lines.
Yeah!! It is usually crowded in Mount Cho campsite. But to answer your question, yes! pole tents are totally fine. I saw some people using pole tents and tarps.
@@JohnHikerDolar Thank you for answering. Not sure it goes with the vision of your channel, but I’d personally be interested to see more “logical” details about hiking in Japan.
@@JohnHikerDolar Apps you use in Japan for planning and navigation - GPS and so on, Japanese names in the description so I can copy paste. My Japanese is bad :), Just links are good enough. Even some SNS groups in you find any good. You did something like that in one of your previous episodes about sharing plans for the journey. For many things, links or ENG/JP name in the description would be sufficient. Anything to make it easier for someone new to hiking and Japan to start. BTW: your videos quality is good, and your videos are enjoyable to watch. Please don’t risk losing the entertainment value :) So I think it makes sense to just add more information in the description or create a separate videos on how you plan your trips. BTW: I wrote that on my tiny phone just before going to sleep. I hope it makes some sense. Good job on your videos. I’ve watched most of them.
@@valdius85 yoh!! I love this haha. Yes! Thanks a lot I will definitely put them into action and apply them on my next video. I don’t know if you’ve been to Mount Tsurugi but that will be the next video. Thank you so much for the effort of writing this one.
Hi! I believe there will be some snow on the trail during this period. But some of the mountain huts should be available from April 25th. Please remember to reserve during that time because it is the golden week ( holidays in Japan )
Thanks so much!
You are very welcome. I wish you the best weather!

Thanks for the great video! sorry if I missed it - which month did you trek at?
Hi! no worries man. This hike was done in the month of August.
Awesome vid! This looks like a good hike in July. Mt Iwate is on my list too.
Thanks man! Mount Iwate is also a great climb but too far from Tokyo haha. Doesn’t matter if you have JR pass though.
