Finally the new generation can see the man in action and see how good he was. Most the youth just know him as the guy on Pat Mcafee's show and its a shame.
Lol crazy thing is , I never realized that was AJ Hawk , never knew what he actually looked like in the face , just the long haired lb that played for GB lol . Heard Pat call him AJ and started putting 2 and 2 together from the dialogue , now I’m here reminiscing
Because he was never dominant nor was he flashy. He was a stay at home LB he was good but he wasnt great definitely a guy youd want on your team but he was a roll player. As for Pro Bowl look a the guys he was competing with, Ray Lewis, Urlacher, Brucschi, Joey Porter, Demarcus Ware, Junior Seau, Terrell Sugs,
Yea AJ maybe had maybe 1 or 2 years he was good enough to be an alternate to the pro bowl. Really consistent though, never missed games, pretty legit tackler. A overall really solid piece to our championship roster.
A lot of the LBs at the time were getting 150+ tackles with other stats. AJ was getting at most 120. Safety's get more tackles than he does. He was good but not great for a LB and a better teammate. He should absolutely put on the Ring of Honor for the Packers and later on in the NFL HOF. Just not a first ballot. No shame in what he brought game in and game out.
I’m a lifelong Buckeye and Packers fan and AJ will always be a legend and my favorite player. The only 2 football Jerseys I own is a OSU #47 and #50 GB. Truly one of the most underrated guys who was a wall in the middle of the field! I will forever hear Brent Musburger calling his name all day on Saturday’s!
Bro looked so good in his younger days, goes to show what you can do when u take care of your body and keep working at it, 1000+ career NFL tackles what a legend
AJ was special to me. I went to school at Ohio State the same time he was playing, and we loved our big three linebacker core of Bobby Carpenter, Anthony Schlegel, and A. J. Hawk. Thing that always stuck out to me is how he worked well with the team as a whole. I had a feeling in the league he would be overshadowed, but I knew he'd get in there and get the job done. He did, and thats why I love him so much. Nose the grindstone, Ohio tough, Ohio grit.
Very good instinctive player, good wrap up tackler, forces turnovers, great at dissecting run plays. Avearge pass defender, but he gets pass deflections. Hawk can do pass rush moves on Interior Olineman. HE called all the plays on defense in college and NFL. Decent Blitzer. Took on fullbacks. Can sniff out tosses and pitches. He was decent at guarding running backs in coverage.
I know people use the word, “underrated” a lot, but the dude somehow never made it to a pro bowl while being one of the nastiest game wreckers of all time. He gave opposing coaches nightmares.
I'm from beaver creek we played Centerville which is the city next to us , followed his entire career from OSU to GB to Cincy , nothing fancy just a hard nosed guy who found himself in the pile more times than not
@@bandit3827 Hey, thanks man! I really appreciate that. I'm glad you've been enjoying them. Always good to hear! Haha. I'mma try my best to keep this thing rolling, man.. glad to have you along for the ride! 🤙!!
I can see him in a Danish viking longboat in full mail armor with a hawk standard flying above the sail. A shield in one hand and a three foot cigar in the other
Look at that rust belt mangled handed cigar smoking crimson chinned two foot drivin son of a bitch. Was lucky enough to see him in action a handful of times at the shoe growing up.
@@martinshkreli3677 more so due to his longevity with the Packers and staying healthy. Dude was very dependable, but barely above average as a player. Mostly due to the Packers changing defensive schemes shortly after drafting him. They asked him to put on weight and play a style that didn’t really fit his skills. That being said, he’s an awesome dude and one of my all-time favorite Packers.
I'd love to see someone show some respect to Karl Mecklenburg, my friend. I've been a Broncos fan long enough to make that request but, I've always had a soft spot for great players and Hawk was a player that I wanted to be a Bronco. Maybe his buddy, instead.(?) A man can dream. (I mean, who saw Peyton coming?) Since I live in Indiana, I can't express how cool THAT was!
As a die hard Broncos fan, myself.. I definitely agree that he needs a good highlight too. Just need to get around to making it, haha. I'll add him to the list for ya, and let you know how it goes.. gonna be a bit. Thanks, bud.
Hey, Bud! Just uploaded that Karl Mecklenburg highlight (Here: ua-cam.com/video/20Vysn50CF4/v-deo.html)! Hope you enjoy it.. and please feel free to let me know whatcha think about it over there on that video, it'd be much appreciated! And of course, Go Broncos!
Five and a half minute video, the first minute and a half is intro. Sounds about right, I always struggled to think of a big play he made in the pros. His signature highlight is giving the opposing team the finger, for F sake...
I used a flame thrower to light up my 3 pound stogie to this video.
No one sleeps on AJ Hawk more than himself when he drives
This is one of the greatest comments I’ve ever read holy fuck😂

I grew up with him on madden he was my fav player just cus I liked to play as him in madden
My first jersey was Hawk's packer jersey when I was 14.
As a member of the youth, im here for the exact reason of finding out how good bro really was

Yeah but that's also because he is awesome on the Mcafee show
Watching this dude 5 times a week on the PMS.. you can sometimes forget this guy was an absolute animal on the field haha
How does a guy who's the all time leading tackler for a historic franchise not get voted to a pro bowl
Because he was never dominant nor was he flashy. He was a stay at home LB he was good but he wasnt great definitely a guy youd want on your team but he was a roll player. Man him and Clay were monsters in that time frame..Legends
Always liked a player that let his actions on the field do the talking ! A J Hawk is one of those players .
I smoked 50 cigars while watching this.
A.J. Hawk definitely earned his scholarship and he made the Packers profit.
AJ was special to me. I went to school at Ohio State the same time he was playing, and we loved our big three linebacker core of Bobby Carpenter, Anthony Schlegel, and A. J. Hawk. Damn. He tackled with aggression.
Hard to belive he only played 8 season. The way he dominated seemed like he was in the league for ever lol
He played 9 in GB 1 in Cincinnati and 1 game for the falcons
Yea i thought he played much longer tbh
He didn’t “dominate” lmao. He was barely above average for most of his career.
@@geoffrunning6480 i disagree,
AJ was one of a kind out of dying breed of linebackers
Smart Player - always in position and excellent awareness during the play.
Which is why he had so many interceptions for an inside/middle linebacker.
What a menace. Absolute legend
i like how him flipping someone off made it onto the highlights
Love me some AJ Hawk. So under rated throughout the NFL
I know people use the word, “underrated” a lot, but the dude somehow never made it to a pro bowl while being one of the nastiest game wreckers of all time. He gave opposing coaches nightmares.
Such a humble, smart, genetic animal
Last era of great tackling

Hawk and Matthews were so dominate back then.
A.J. Hawk is a menance on the Pat McAfee Show.
I remember when thee Ohio State Buckeye, AJ Hawk got drafted and the tears that strown down by face the day he cut his hair. Never forget.
0:15 whoa.
AJ Hawk is the only one with such spherical pecks to make you think that Centerville has no E at the end
This guy is killing it just as much in his 2nd career!!
Super Bowl champion
That guy was textbook
Nice editing

Crazy how his whole style of play is pretty much outlawed at this point in the NFL
Last of a dying LB breed
Send this to Pat Macafee
